Darksiders II targets summer release, Wii U version at launch
Vigil Entertainment's action adventure sequel looks to be among the first titles available on Nintendo's tablet-sporting console.
Fans waiting for the follow-up to Vigil Entertainment's Darksiders will have to maintain their own vigil a while longer. The second coming of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse action adventure now has a confirmed release window well into next year.
THQ has announced that Darksiders II is now slated to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in the summer of 2012 and is anticipated to be a Wii U launch title. The Wii U's launch date has not been announced, but Nintendo has previously said that it hopes to release the console sometime next year. The Wii U's launch hardware is slated to be on hand at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo next June.
Darksiders II follows the horseman Death, brother of the original game's protagonist, War. The sequel will tell a parallel story to the original instead of continuing on from that title's conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War's "good" name (he's accused of starting the End of Times ahead of time) and save humankind in the process.

Well, they shoveled the 3DS out exceptionally quick. They could do the same with the WiiU. There's nothing really wrong with the hardware, they just didn't have enough software to back up its release... I'm certain they've learned from that.
raise your hand if your not gonna buy it for the Wii U. 'raises hand'

June hopefully, and b4 E3 XD
@zenverak Seriously? I strongly believe most core gamers will avoid the Wii U like it's the plague for now, the one thing the Wii had in it's favor was the cheap price (well, and the gimmicky controls but that surely did not appeal to core gamers) and now that's gonna be gone ( it may cost up to 2x the price of a 360/PS3 :| ), so who the hek is gonna pay almost double on a new console just to play the same games they can find on 360/PS3 and even worse with gimmicky controls instead of the good old gamepad controller? It's not worth paying 400-500$ on a new console for a rare handful of exclusives Nintendo will have (can anybody name another great Wii exclusive other than Zelda this year for example?) .
It's great that they'll be releasing in the summer. It'll better than if they wait for Fall and make me have to decide which games to buy.
PC version at launch = win!
I'm interested to see how Darksiders 2 is different on Wii U. As compared to Playstation 3. I played and enjoyed the original on PS3. But this is where Nintendo has to show the Wii U version is "better" do to the addition of the second screen on the tablet controller. The graphic look of the game should be indentical to PS3/Xbox 360. A launch title for Wii U at least there is one decent 3rd party title. (possible)
I think most people will buy this game for the Wii U not the other way around.
I will get this for my PS3 i will buy Nintendo WiiU only if there are a great first party games.
i played the first on ps3 i buy darksiders2 on my ps3 i cant wait
Picked the first up cheap not expecting much, surprisingly loved it. Am looking forward to this one.
I got the first one used and I really liked it so I will definitely get the sequel new. See developers? That is how 2nd hand sales serve you. I will probably get it on the Wii-U as well because the game does have a lot of different menus to run through and maps. That touch screen will serve me well.
A summer release is excellent news. Usually, the summer months see an extreme drought of games, so releasing Darksiders II when there's no competition is brilliant. I wish more developers would do that, instead of trying to cram all the big releases into the last three months of the year and end up fighting each other for sales.
One of the only sequels wher ethe story actually makes sense on paper :D lol
I hope they make it more comfortable on the PC... part one I had to play with a controler + mouse + Keyboard o_o
I would have preferred something along the lines of Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, but this will do if I get a Wii-U. *Crosses fingers for button configuration options because he prefers using B for jumping and Y for attacking on Nintendo's four-face-button controllers.*
Good, now the Wii U launch won't be as bad as the 3DS's launch.
I played the first part of the PS3 but I think I'll buy Darksiders II on PC. I only hope that the game will be as good as before.
Woo keep the PC release on schedule!!
I just don't see why I would get a wii u for a game that I can get on my ps3 or pc... I just don't think I will be looking at the new Nintendo console this time :'(
I'll get it on the wii u if they use the new contoller well.
Can't wait for the PC version, I hope they do a good job with it.
Ah man, I thought this was coming out in February
I've been extremely skeptical of the Wii U in terms of whether or not it will have 3rd party support. This is definitely a good sign, and the game looks great, but I want to see more examples of non-traditionally Nintendo publishers putting games on the new system, before I decide it is worth it.
I wonder if the Wii U version will get a bundle because that would be cool.
