Source: A recently posted YouTube video appears to be a teaser trailer for the still-unannounced Dead Rising 2, and suggests that the game will be set in a Las Vegas-style, entertainment-obsessed city.
What we heard: Dead Rising 2 has been rumored almost since the Xbox 360 exclusive originally launched, given that Capcom was running surveys at the time inquiring about interest in a sequel. Since that time, a Dead Rising follow-up has been hinted at, tied to a developer, and publicly acknowledged, but not actually announced.
If this latest teaser trailer is any indication, Capcom may be about ready to break its silence on Dead Rising 2. Clocking in at exactly a minute in length, the trailer does exactly what a teaser trailer should do. It establishes its Dead Rising ties straight away with news coverage of "the Willamette incident," and shows exterior shots of the Willamette mall where the original game took place.
The teaser then sets up the premise for a sequel. In the background, a voice that could be that of original Dead Rising protagonist Frank West says, "It's happening again," before a coldly detached public announcement informs that "This area has been quarantined due to the occurrence of a zombie outbreak." Then comes news of a drug (the unfortunately titled "Zombrex") that an announcer claims has been "almost" completely effective in halting the progress of the zombie disease.
The din of news-feed reports reaches a climax, and then is replaced by a salesman's voice pitching a Las Vegas-like entertainment capital where visitors can leave their cares behind. Footage of luxurious casino interiors is intercut with clips of the same locations overrun by the undead, with the slightest glimpse of possible gameplay. For a moment, the trailer shows a player in an American Gladiators-style man-sized sphere bowling over the undead.
Another shot depicts a man--possibly West--in a full-body Mega Man outfit, albeit without the helmet. In the original Dead Rising, players were able to pick up various Mega Man role-playing items from the mall's toy store and movie theater. They could also unlock a "real" Mega Buster arm cannon by completing the game's Zombie Genocide achievement.
So is Dead Rising 2 going to be set in Las Vegas or a fictitious counterpart to everybody's favorite city of sin? It does make a certain amount of sense. Like the film that inspired Dead Rising--George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead--the game satirized American culture, specifically its rampant consumerism and consumption, through the lens of a middle American shopping mall. If the satirical target for Dead Rising 2 is to be American excess, the hedonistic hotbed that is Las Vegas seems a natural encore.
The gameplay dynamic of the original Dead Rising (trapped inside a mall overrun by zombies and insane survivors for three days) could also be preserved somewhat by placing gamers in a closed-off resort encompassing all of the various Vegas-style vices, from casinos to stage shows to sports books to cathouses.
Even the timing of this trailer leak lines up well. Capcom has the Wii version of the original game, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, slated for release later this month. Announcing the sequel as the Wii edition hits stores could help interest in each of those products flow over to the other.
The official story: Capcom did not return requests for comment as of press time.
Bogus or not bogus?: Looks pretty not bogus.
[UPDATE] Early Monday morning, Capcom confirmed Dead Rising 2 is in development for the PS3, 360, and PC at Canadian developer Blue Castle Games. The game will be set in a Las Vegas-like gambling mecca called "Fortune City," and will feature a whole new range of in-game object to smash undead opponents. Oh, and that trailer? 100 percent authentic.
i would like to see that military boss at the end on dead rising 1 (overtime mode), as a zombie with the knoledge on how to fire a weapon...that would be kool!
I've got some ideas for this game....... I'd love to see as part of the insane human roster a crazy Elvis impersonator, or a zombie elvis. That would be cool. Also an Insane Casino owner who has some macabre way of making you gamble for your life. It'd be great to have a messed up cabaret band too, maybe there instruments could be made of zombies, a bit like the band in From Dusk Til Dawn. Zombie old ladies on those little electric moped things too would be a hoot! I can't wait for this game. The scope for enhancment and funny quirks is huge!!
I I hope I can use slot machines, black jack cards and tokens to have a blood bath with the zombie's slaughtery!
it has been announced accually! there are screen shots of it but they have to finish RE5 first but it is writien and possobly in the works
I think they are making a sequel deadrising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When a game has Atlaspheres in it then its gotta be good.. all thats missing is a mini-game where you have to knock Zombie-Malibu from his pedestal in Human Canonball. "Dude before you know it he was swinging at me and I was all like... Duuuuuuude Brains"
Good think it's being released for the PS3 as well... I owned the original game, one of my all-time favorites, but my 360 recently died on me, and I'm making the safe choice of selling all my 360 games to help pay for a good PC for college. I also recently obtained a PS3, so I won't be missing out, something I've been worrying about for a long time now...
I dont really see the point of releasing it for multiple platforms except that they would get more sales, but if PS3 owners like myself didnt get the first one,it should stay on the 360 and btw it looks uber cool, the first one rocked and I completed it on all the endings, which they should make better ones and when you've completed the game you should be able to carry on playing unlike the first.
I'm so pleased that a PS3 version is being released as I'm a big zombie stuff fan and missed out on the 360 original. Happy days.
Just want to add that I pray that the god awful save system has returned from rehab and be up for some *holds breath* auto-saves. :)
I never thought I'd see a Dead Rising 2, it seemed so long since the original that it might not ever happen. I'm super psyched that it's officially been confirmed and without worrying too much, it should hopefully beat the original; the Vegas setting has a lot of potential. I'm not sure where all the original or new weapons will actually be in the game considering it's been narrowed down to a Casino, but maybe I'm in for a surprise. Wish List ;)
Watched the trailer and the dude who filmed it has Parkinsons or something.... can't hold a camera still for a penny chew(!) Still though, can't wait for this game....
Pretty sweet, it's nice that the game is also coming to other consoles. I never did play the first one but the story and gameplay did look awesome, hopefully Capcom can capture the same spirit as the first iteration did.
It's just been officially confirmed by Capcom. The trailer is real. They've released screenshots and info. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/capcom-confirms-dead-rising-2 http://www.eurogamer.net/gallery.php?game_id=10736&article_id=409576
Cool! But Capcom, for the love of two button controllers let?s not have an "Otis" calling me every two seconds to tell me stuff that I don?t care about, when I am fighting for my life.
If Dead Rising 2 does come out I'd hope it would have a better save system, a much better aiming system, and co-op both online and off.
http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=8291 Rejoice zombie fans because capcom have confirmed Dead rising 2
Was just confirmed by Capcom that it's real and that it will be on 360, PS3, and PC. Source: www.n4g.com
this game is going to go multi platform its inevitable dead rising is already on the wii (it would be pretty stupid releasing it for PS3 and PC so late)the first one was alright i liked it but wtf was with the true ending!!!!! it didnt make much sense 3 words tank, frank (im not trying to make it rhyme) and screaming?
to The HolyDevil16 nothing says its 360 exclusive, i guessing it will be on all consoles except wii they wil have to wait 2 years for it.
This HAS to be Dead Rising 2. No doubt about it. Hopefully they'll have some multi-platform love this time.
again Xbox only?I was hoping to see this game on PC cuz i love these types of games where u can kill zombies with anything :)
This would be amazing on co-op because unlike other zombie games you have to complete the missions like left4dead, which is kinda a draw-back if its like the first one and co-op i will be beast.
I just hope you can have bluetooth with your phone. I swear to God, Otis is the Navi of Dead Rising. Really challenging game. I also got really pissed at the food eating guy for undoing my hard work of saving people, I swear to God I was just one minute from bringing that greedy bastard some food and HE TAKES THE SURVIVORS INTO THE GOD #$$% MALL AND THEIR NEVER SEEN AGAIN JUST FOR FOOD!!!! I RISKED LIFE AND LIMB AND TIME TO SAVE THEM!! Sorry, also Dead Rising is the only game to make me sick to my stomach and scared all at once. Take Adam the Clown's Death for example *shivers* and also seeing a survivor's intestines getting ripped out. XP
Not an easy game (I'm talking to you, AI and save system!!) but I'd love to see a sequel. Gotta disagree with nene79, though...I want no part in online functionality unless it's downloading more content. When it comes to zombie killing, I work alone :-)
I really do hope a second Dead Rising comes to be! Don't care if it is direct sequel or new story in the same world as long as there are tons of zombies and the game truely delivers the feel of survival horror! And I really hope it is not exclusive. All gamers deserve to play this game on the 360, PS3, PC! CO-OP is a HUGE plus!!! Just about everyone wants to kill zombies with friends!!!
i do hope there is a 2nd one the first one was very good. but the saves were harsh and the time limit was a good idea but was anoying somtimes. if they could through in a co-op or 4 player like L4D this could be a real winner. horde modes would be decent aswell.
still playing dead rising every so often, pure unadulterated (my new favourite word) zombie carnage! sure it had its glitches, but as a whole for a near launch title, capcom did a sterling job on delivering great ultra violent game play, good storyline (yes its ott) and a great set of characters! been eagerly awaiting this game ever since i kicked seven shades of a four letter word beginning with s and ending with hit! out of the general on the tank (spoiler for those who didn't complete it properly)! frank west is the man! hopefully now he'll be even harder! oh and bigger text would be nice, and a change of ringtone!
i do hope that the keep the time system .. but enable you to have more than one game save .... I still love the original to bits !!
At last! I had a kind of love/hate relationship with the first game, but I'd definitely love to see a sequel.
