Dead Space 3 gets co-op - Report
Source says unannounced game to boast drop-in, drop-out multiplayer; snow planet setting, human enemies, plasma cutter overhaul also rumored.
Gamers will be able to buddy up in the unannounced Dead Space 3, according to a source speaking to IGN. Series hero Isaac Clarke will be able to journey through the game next to another character--described as "a man with a gnarly scar on his face"--who will act as Isaac's guide.
According to the site's source, Dead Space 3's co-op mode will feature the same story as the single-player campaign, but with some differences. The example provided was that after a traumatic event, Isaac may experience hallucinations in single-player. But in co-op, this psychological breakdown does not occur. Additionally, players will be able to interact with the environment together, share ammo, and heal each other.
The site also reports that the plasma cutter weapon is being completely overhauled for Dead Space 3 and that for the first time, Isaac will be able to crouch as a means to stealthily maneuver through environments. Additionally, the game is to be set on a snow planet, with events focusing on a mysterious facility.
The tipster also spilled the beans on enemies in Dead Space 3. Players will again fight the nasty necromorphs, but will also take on human enemies for the first time in the series. Lastly, Dead Space 3 is rumored to boast "skyscraper-sized" foes, including a "massive worm-like beast."
