Leaked documentation for Bungie's new "always-connected" first-person shooter says game allows players to create their own character and customize weapons, gear, and vehicles.
Joystiq has obtained a double-sided poster and other documentation, which not only reveals artwork for the game, but also gameplay elements.
According to the documentation, Destiny will be a first-person shooter set in an "always-connected" universe that allows gamers to create a character and earn customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles.
Destiny is also rumored to have cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, as well as "public and social activities." These were not described in any greater detail .
Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision. Legal documents from May suggested that the game will be released for the Xbox 360 in 2013, with a 2014 release slated for the PlayStation 3.
The game is reportedly "quite like Halo."
@wOnKaCatalyst I think that'll be the case. The game's supposed to be worked on for ten years, Bungie and Activision's not going to support a game on current-gen consoles for that long; plus, the game supposedly looks a little bit better than what current consoles can even run.
How can this possibly be coming out for current-gen consoles? Even the games releasing recently can barely run on them (Farcry 3, AC3, Dead Space 3. Yes, lots of 3's.)
@SythisTaru It'll be a 'bridge' game that's on this gen and next gen.
Sounds pretty cool but do we need another Halo-type game? Not tryin to hate because Im big-fan. Halo is a game you would want to take something from for future endavours. Guess we have to wait and see for ourselves.
@dswyaed24 Hopefully we will see in Destiny what Bungies vision for the future of the Halo franchise would have been, if MS hadn't constantly fucked around with it.
@H4num4n I would like to see the orgin of the Prometheans somewhere in the furutre of the Halo franchise. The only time I can think of MS dipping the hand in the pot was with Halo Wars. Are therer other instances?
Would also like to play a game that is entirely about the forerunners, there is really some cool stuff going about them. When you don't think that books are teh evil and got some imagination than i suggest that you read Halo cryptum and primordium. They are like a forerunner saga whit lots of info and backstory.
@H4num4n HAHA!! Yeah man, ODST was a waste. I mean the foreunners.
I think it would've been better if MS brought Halo3 in 2008 and let Bungie another year of developement. Don't get my wrong it is my favorite Halo game along with the first one. I think ODST wasn't necessary at all. Reach while beeing really good and all, i couldn't help but think that it wasn't a improvement over Halo3. Or at least that the improvements were too small to justify a new Halo game. And fucking Armor Lock of course.
Maybe i'm just getting a little fed up with Halo 'cause i played the crap out of the first three.
Regarding Prometheans: The prometheans are the forerunner warrior caste. Just the "fighting-form" they can evolve into. The prometheans from Halo 4 are not real prometheans just "harvestet" humans and than turned into this Robot like enemys as you can see in the game.
Sooo, wich promethean do you mean the forerunner ones or the "fake" human ones?
@H4num4n @dswyaed24 Okay. ODST, not sure what Bungie could have done with that game. We are so attached to the Spartans that ODST was doomed from the start. I didn't have a problem with Halo 3 or Reach. What is your take on those games? Mistakes that were made. And for the Prometheans, I meant a more hands on experience; a game dedicated to their origin.
"...a first-person shooter set in an "always-connected" universe that allows gamers to create a character and earn customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles."
I'm as excited about this game as I have been about the one hundred related clones that came before this one.
This is no GTA V, Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, or Witcher 3. It's just another sad try at grabbing money from poor parents of miseducated children.
@Renato1984 Can I borrow your time machine once you're finished with it? I have things I want to check on.
"Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision."
This franchise is dead already.
Please, please, please do not be an always internet connected game, like diablo and their DRM. Nothing could spoil it more.
@jenovaschilld Then u should stay at the stoneage. Lol and play super mario 4ever. Lol.
@Smart1Guy Wtf is your problem??? Not everyone has a stable and fast internet connection unlike you, and having to be online for a single player mode is just plain stupid.
@Yulaw2000 I don't think it means internet-required. It just means a persistent world with online interaction. There is a difference. If it is a "internet required" dealio then I would change my mind and say I wasn't interested anymore.
But I wasn't interested in the first place so I can't say that.
@Falru All of the other sites are classifying it as an MMO game and if it's an MMO in which you will have to be connected to play as MMOs are, I'll definitely pass.
