HD Collection of first three games in Capcom's action franchise set for North American release early next year at $40 price point.
The HD revival trend that has seen enhanced rereleases in series like God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, and Prince of Persia isn't reversing course just yet, as Capcom today announced the Devil May Cry HD Collection for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Set for North American release early next year, the HD Collection will represent the original PlayStation 2 trilogy with Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition. Beyond a high-definition visual retooling, Capcom has said the new package will include unspecified bonus content and support for trophies on the PS3 and achievements on the Xbox 360.
Released in October of 2001, Devil May Cry introduced protagonist Dante and established the series' mixture of gunplay and swordplay. The second game followed on in 2003 with the introduction of Lucia and an enhanced demon form. In 2005, Devil May Cry 3 introduced new fighting styles and told a prequel story involving Dante and his rival brother Vergil. The Special Edition of Devil May Cry 3 was released in early 2006 and featured a playable Virgil, a new boss character, a turbo option to speed the game up by 20 percent, a new continue system, adjusted difficulty levels (with a new "very hard" mode), and survival and movie modes.
The HD Collection isn't the only Devil May Cry release on the calendar. Capcom has also tapped Enslaved: Odyssey to the West developer Ninja Theory to create DMC, a "rebirth" of the series that features a new take on Dante who can switch among angel, demon, and human forms in mid-combo. Capcom has set a 2012 release window for DMC.

@BillyColeman I don't know what you're reading, but nowhere in my last comment did I compare Halo to Half-Life 2. Say what you want about Halo. Again, I'll point out I mentioned Halo Anniversary only because the graphics have been greatly improved over the original. The fact you now say it looks like Reach is proof of that. The DMC games look like ****.
x-2tha-z i dont think something like Half-Life 2 can be compared to halo the Half-Life saga is by far one of the best fps made hell the only one i like halo is not as hard and now a days is full of 9-13 year old kids who cuss and talk about how epic thay are for tea baging ppl halo is not a bad game by any means just i dont think theres anything epic about master chef thats just me, as for the new improved the graphics all that did was make it look and feel more like halo reach so that sort of takes the fun away i mean idk why thay call it Halo Anniversary HD becuse all it is. is a remake not the old game at all
@BillyColeman Well that's your opinion. When I mentioned Halo Anniversary, I was commenting on how much they've improved the graphics. You can tell some love has been given to HA. The DMC games look like they did on PS2. I wouldn't be surprised if they were just image dumps and a PS2 emulator, shoved onto a Blu-ray disc. I wasn't talking about gameplay. But I do love the campaign from Halo CE. It's up there with Half-Life 2 as the best FPS campaigns IMO. DMC1 was dull. Weak combat. Poor level design. It's aged horribly, too. The crap graphics in the rerelease won't do it any favours. DMC2 The less said about this one, the better. Diesel jeans, lol. DMC3 The only reason this compilation is worth buying, if you don't own it on PS2, which I do, so I won't be buying it.
Now everything have HD version.Personally,I don't think RE and SH HD games release are worthy because of the adjustments (RE 4 got censored deaths and SH 2 and 3 will have new voiceovers). I wonder if DMC will be "touched" this way...
I have DMC 4 on xbox, love it, even thought my skill crapped out at DMD difficulty. But yea finally xbox can enjoy what PS3 enjoyed for the last ten years. I envy you PS3 users.

According to NeoGaf, there is definitely going to be a European version (and its going to be released on February 10 2012). Hope its true, hehe.
Im going to get this even get this on ebay lol if they not uk realse or Euope. I see why not xbox360 have it because they got devil may cry 4 so this will get for my ps3. But Gamepsot ask capacom realse this in uk plz and rest euope thx .
@steelmouth wow, dmc4 puzzles are really easy. I would advise to look them up online so you dont miss out on the action :) DMC2 can be skipped entirely, but 1 & 3 are among my very favorite games. good times
Shame the "HD" version of Resident Evil 4 was such a f***ing disgrace. Way to kill the memory of one of the best games ever made. Don't expect too much from this.
am not that hyped up about this,i have had DMC4 for years and am yet to finish it,i tossed it aside due to the many manu puzzels i had to solve,its was lik after every 2 to 3 fights there comes a puzzel to solve inorder to proceed. so i stopped playing vry vry early on in the game so there is 25% chance i may get ths if not to play then just for ma collection
Great news. Today I was thinking, if they would make DMC3 HD on PS3, I would love it and here it is... maybe I should have prayed for something else :P
If they want more people to play, They should add easy difficulty i original and 2nd as the sE of DMC 3 already had easy otherwise for this age, the games are hard
No Europe release? really would love to get it as i never played DMC on PS2. Hopefully it will be region free as Gears of War Triple Pack.
40 bucks? That's a great deal, here in Mexico used copies of every single DMC game can cost over 60 bucks.
If that pic is REALLY what the first one will look like in HD, then this will be a must-buy.

I Would Consider on getting this because i always wanted to go back and play DMC1 & 2 Because i was one of the few who didn't play them back on the PS2 this is just Simply Awesome
Can't wait to fight against Trismagia in level "Dante Must Die" in DMC 2... And this time in HD. For me, the best boss fight in the series... Of course, this just for those who knows how to defeat him with no damage and S Rank. You just need rhythm and concentration.
The new DMC is good in the sense that the environment conveys a certain atmosphere, but graphics seem to be below that of DMC4. . . But it might just be me. Anyways, if the protagonist's name is NOT Dante, I will be much more interested in the game. I just can't picture an emo Dante
awesome news, I hope Capcom don't get lazy on this one.,.. the Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica 'HD Remakes' were just plain sloppy - They don't really look any better and Resident Evil 4 even has slowdown. How can a game from last generation on new generation hardware possibly struggle to keep up?
If we promise not to play the second game, can we get a discount? Heck, I'll sign an agreement if they'll knock $10 off. Beyond that, I'm looking forward to this collection. I played the DMC games, but I did so through friends and GameFly. It'll be nice to add this to my collection.
oh an@RedWave247 if you loved the first an never played 2 or 3, than definatley get this collection, i would say go on an skip 1 an 2 and go staright to 3!! not only was dmc 3 the best devil may cry but to me it was one of the best games ever made!!!!!

last time I finished devil may cry 1 was on max resolution on my PC (with pcsx2) about 2 years ago, so if they don't add something new and interesting, I think IŽll pass...
Better add a trophy platinum for each one for the PS3 version, unlike the Resident Evil HD games. Maybe add trophy support for DMC4 too. :D
