Battle.net forum users report getting booted from game servers after playing Demon Hunter and equipping Templar with a shield; Blizzard says fix on the way.
Gamers have found a game-breaking bug in Blizzard Entertainment's just-released Diablo III. The issue triggers Error 3006, which boots users from Diablo III servers and prohibits them from logging back in, according to reports on the Battle.net forums.
As detailed on Blizzard's Diablo III known issue page, while playing a Demon Hunter, players who equip a shield to a Templar follower run the risk of being disconnected from the game's servers. Blizzard is currently investigating the issue, and according to the company's European customer service Twitter feed, a fix is on the way.
Diablo III launched today for the PC and Mac. It is the first title in the series since 2001's Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion and adds a variety of new features, character classes, and a new auction house system, which charges gamers a range of fees. 2 Like None of these problems would be even half as bad, or cause half the nerdrage if single player mode didn't require a connection to a server.

1 Like i love blizz, buy all their games but i think this game was best left in the past, after LOL and dota these kind of games dont really stack up to much . . . just spent the last 3 acts just holding my wouse down and spending mana when i can for auto in on any battle. the 2nd boss was the only hard bit (hard meaning i died once on it) but after thyat its just run run run and gun . . . seriously, games ok but total let down . . or did i just remember the 2nd one better
Why you people hate Blizzard so much? Because they have very good games? If you hate them so why you freaking play their games? Stop playing their games if you hate them!
2 Like @Ozner102 The vast majority of people are cross because there are still errors and bugs that are preventing play as well as features that are more restrictive than they were advertised.
I am STILL hearing tell of people unable to log in and play. Come tomorrow it'll have been out for a week in the UK. Even if it's only a relatively small amount of people it's not a good thing, particularly not for Blizzard's rep.
Yes, Blizzard are working on fixing these issues and fair-play to them but should they expect overwhelming gratitude? No, they should work on fixing it and leave out the patronising statements. People have already paid them the money for their product, their product which cannot perform as advertised.
The game had bugs and errors because certain people have failed to do their job properly. Yeah, it happens and bugs ARE to be expected with any game but not to this extent, no-one can deny that. Whenever a game ships with bugs like these it doesn't matter what game it is or who made it or even how good the game turns out to be once it's actually fully operational. It's still a black mark.
People should just get over the fact that this game had a bad start. Oh well game is out now its old news. Enjoy it!

@Shanks_D_Chop It's not like i can do anything about it or even you. I just play the game and anyone else that plays the game should stop complaining and the people that can't play will eventually at some point.

1 Like This game should have been reviewed by now with penalties on the score due to these stupid anus bugs. It's not fair for other developers to have their games reviewed low due to bugs/errors, so what the hell is going on here?
2 Like It's only "easy" on Normal Mode. Normal mode has kiddie wheels on it. After you get past normal though, the gloves come off. If you can even get half way to through the Hell Mode you're a GOD. On "Normal" though, I think my grandmother could click her way through D3.
Having said that, DIABLO 3 IS AWESOME!!! I've done nothing but eat, sleep, and play Diablo 3 since I bought it. (then again I'm also disabled and don't have a real job). It's That addicting though. Hunting for decent items for use by your main or other characters is like, I don't know, something super addicting, like crack...LoL.
Already through Act III Inferno... so that makes me a God? Inferno is the only mode with any real difficulty. Any of the other modes, with a decent build and a the patience to have a strategy other than 'run at boss and click till one of us dies,' most of the bosses are pushovers.
@DarthSithari Lest we forget, Diablo II was nearly unplayable until the LoD expansion pack. After that, it rocked.
I have not played the game so beat me all you want but I keep reading the game is too easy. Is this so? It is stopping me from buying it. I hate how they ruined WoW by making it stupidly easy.
Normal mode can be completed by somebody legally retarded (probably Nightmare too). Hell is decent, but still pretty easy if you have patience and are half-decent at games. Inferno is where its at, it starts to get pretty tough, especially if you try and do it undergeared.

Wait till u try hardcore or the other modes it gets really challenging.

3 Like Whats with all these useless features of Diablo 3; all the big reviewers haven't got cleared payment to actually post a score yet? I'm just plain annoyed at this pussyfooting around...let me know if the game is good....it must take a really long time to love this game. And even if you hate it you'd probably spent too much time in it to outright ban its use forever.

You already have 20 critics available that "already got the payment" (really? people are still with that crap?) according to metacritic, feel free to check em out.
I'm not asking for a "go-ahead" I'm asking for people to do what they love or do their goddamn job; whatever ideal works for them. Instead there's all this dancing around the point.

@OurSin-360 From what I understand AAA games that arrive broken don't get reviewed with high-scores and the reviewers don't wait around until the problems get fixed to put in their word. In other words, this game is a shitty 'brand-loyalty' plea for your money.
@NINEINCH-Tool from what i understand blizzard wasn't too keen on giving out review copies early, so most sites got it around the same time everybody else did. So i doubt anybody has actually played enough to give a full review. Not to mention since it's server based, it'd be impossible to review accurately until the servers were at full load to see if ti's stable or not.

Have you even read "The Trenches"? No, of course not. You don't know how it is in the video game industry.
The testers can test all they want, find all th bugs. They get paid to find bugs, and they usually do. It's up to the actual programmers to follow through on those, and most of the time they don't.
There have been more games shipped with known bugs than you can count, all because the programmers didn't want to work on them. Hell, in one of the anonymous tales, a bug that killed the very console it was played on (no joke - the console would die) was shipped with the game, and the guy who found the bug was fired.
1 Like @Supperdude9 Indeed I didn't read. But we are not talking about an issue that happens in a very specific event. It happens when you CHANGE AN ITEM! I read and even heard people talking about creatures becoming invincible.
They kept saying "It will ship when it's ready". But If what you said is true than Blizzard just lied with a plain face to their customers. If not, it's still really bad for their reputation since the game and it's launch is clearly not ready.
So, if the game is not ready, they are incompetent because 12 years of development...I mean c'mon. You can expect at least a pristine product, with minor to no flaws.
To some this problem maybe small biased by the love to the company. But considering the time, expectation and the always online crap (that have it's own flaws), this minor problem escalates.
My point is, this company declared that they took their time to perfect their product and blablabla. That's what they declared to everyone. Having a 144 months to develop software I have the RIGHT to expect the best of the best.

@theR34p3R I don't get it. If they can solve those bugs so fast, why didn't they solve it before releasing the game?
My point is:
If some company comes and tell me "It will be out when it's ready" and after so much waiting it comes with a ridiculous bug like that. The all waiting for perfection thing is a lie, a BIG LIE!
They keep the hype up on purpose and I don't like when companies treats theirs customers like that. If you know that you will not keep up the hype than come and speak clearly. Like Gabe Newell does for example.
He knows that HL is clearly overdue but instead of speaking "We will release when it's done, perfect, etc" he says "I know we are in debt with our fans but we are struggling with the story and we have some side projects that are important too". And then with that (at least me) people get a little more satisfied because they know that the project is in development but is facing actual obstacles and not a BS excuse like "we are making it optimal".
And, in my example, the hype is build up and down naturally with time by the fan's own madness and love, and not forced by lies and promises that don't live to the end.
@Boyce-Diprima Just because it took 12 years for D3 to follow up on D2 doesn't mean it took 12 actual years to make the game, nitwit. NO game is ever bug free, no matter how much testing. It is a prestine product with minor to no flaws actually. Blizzard solves these bugs rather fast and without BS unlike many other developers.
1 Like @Boyce-Diprima Exactly what i was thinking, on launch day i spammed the login screen hoping I'll replace some1 who got bsod or lapsed net bill but like u said that's no excuse to the issues people faced along with the loss of achv that cannot be earned again till they fix it. How they could not anticipate any of this is beyond me given they had a very long time to work on the game.
1 Like How come everyone is acting like this is the worst launch ever? All of this complaining. No to change the subject but has everyone forgot every single CoD launch ever. All of the game breaking glitches that allow people to hide in windows and be invincible, hide under maps and be invincible, or all of the game breaking LAG. Everyone is complaining about the servers being crappy or the high latency in diablo 3 but what about every CoD? You know the LAG that makes sure you die from BS over and over again. Like when you shoot someone in the back of the head with a HEADSHOT but they somehow turn around and ONE shot you and YOU die instead of them even though you got the drop on them and shot them in the head. You know you shot them because the hit markers came up. But when you see the kill cam it shows that you never shot one time and they fired like half a clip even though your the one that shot half a clip and you only saw them shoot once. Yeah that LAG. So I say again how come everyone is acting like this is the worst launch ever when every CoD launch is worse then the last. Even MW3 was like this. Do people just assume that CoD is going to suck and don't expect much? Oh and before you say that my internet sucks it is 100Mbps down and 20 Mbps up and when I do a ping test on another website it says I have a grade A connection with O packet lose and that's using a test server on the other side of the US. So no it's not my internet. With this connection I should have host every single time but instead a kid with DSL always gets host and makes everybody LAG like hell. CoD games are the worst launches ever. Compared to CoD, Diablo 3 has no problems.
@lewishim666 I'm sorry but COD didn't take 12 years to develop. And I expect almost every Blizzard game to be polished when release because that is Blizzard, especially D3 when it is such an important launch. Error 37 or 3007 cannot be forgiven becuase you need to adjust your router settings just to make the game work. WTF? What about the people who don't know anything about port forwarding or setting up their routers? How do you expect them to fix this problem?

lagging like hell in single-player due to server latency isn't a problem?
I know people who accidentally triggered the templar's shield-swap bug and some of them still can't login yet, almost a week later, and that's not a problem?
Add to that some of the enemies in hardcore mode randomly become invincible.
yeah, personally never seen a launch as bad as this (I don't play FPSs so dunno 'bout CoD's release).
On a side-note, lag isn't usually caused by your internet speed or your response time to a random server, it's caused by the path taen to reach the game's server. i.e. connecting to a game server in california from new york could try to connect via a EU server, not the game companies' faul but rather the ISPs you connect through (not just your own ISP). In the same way connecting to a (less used) web server in california from new york could connect directly, reporting 10-20ms response time and 0 packet loss.
2 Like No you cant becasue you have to be logged in at all time on battlenet to be able to play single player and multiplayer, once the bug logs you out you lose the game
To people complaining about losing unlocked portions of the map. The game doesn't save your progress when you clear areas in the randomly generated areas. It only saves the portions of the map that are the main areas your not losing progress. If the game saved the parts of the map you've unlocked then the randomization would be kind of pointless. Each time you go into an area again it's randomly generated and it gets events added randomly along with monsters.
I play a demon hunter, since launch, i equiped my templar follower with a shield ASAP, never got this bug, never got disconnected, i guess i was lucky, the real question is why does it happens only to certain person?
@Shanks_D_Chop Yeah as I mentioned, I'm playing Skyrim on PS3 until this Summer, so the worst I've had is some visual stuttering. I also had the game stop recognizing R1 and L1 input commands, but I just opened the menu and closed it again and it worked fine.
Your site having to generously provide advice on how to play around crashes in a game made by a company as large,experienced and wealthy as this one says a great deal about where gamers stand ,compared to greed, in the eyes of "corporate nation".
