Specialty retailer lists top-tier edition of May 24-dated racing game; 1/16 model of Ken Block Gymkhana Fiesta included in pack.
Last November, Activision bundled an RC car with its $150 Prestige edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops. This May, Codemasters is upping the ante, according to GameStop.
A listing for a $300 Dirt 3 Ken Block Gymkhana RC Car Bundle (for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) popped up on the specialty retailer's site recently. The pack includes a copy of Dirt 3, as well as a 1/16 model of Ken Block's Gymkhana Fiesta.
According to the GameStop listing, the RC car will come fully assembled and sport waterproof electronics, four-wheel drive, and a foam front bumper, as well as other specifics. For the full breakdown on the RC car, check out the GameStop listing.
As for the game itself, Dirt 3 is due out May 24 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The game looks to continue the series' move away from pure rallying with the addition of the gymkhana discipline to the event list. This sits alongside traditional rallies, point-to-point races, rallycross events, and more primarily off-road activities in a range of vehicles.
DiRT is one of the better racing game series ever. There current game engine provides some of the best physics you can get on consoles. That is if you race in the cockpit view. In-cockpit veiw provides a much more realistic connection and car feel. It doesn't even feel like the same game in 3rd person. The cars visual actions don't mimic the physical action, in that the cars look like they're sliding and floating around more than it feels like it is. F1 2010 uses the same game engine and doesn't seem to suffer from this in 3rd person, it is also a very good game. With that said. I wish this game was just all rally/hill-climb content. With an actual simulation structure in regards to different series and championships, car/team maintenance, like F1 2010 is. Theres too much other crap going on besides rally. Especially in DiRT 2 . It would be also be really cool if you could buy track packs for DiRT. Rally packs, hillclimb packs, whatever. This has been pretty lucrative for other racing games and gives you more mileage out of the game.
Soon we are going to buy the whole ingame worlds, just hope they will be isolated safely cause monsters can pop out...loooool
Yes I know that they care if it sells. Since they are putting this out they think it will sell well apparently. But my point was that sales are not the best or only way to gauge a games success. The fact is that the people that know what the car is will appreciate it and the others won't and I think it's great that codemasters are finally making a worthwhile special edition.
of course they care if it sells. if special editon games didn't sell they would have stopped making them a long time ago.
It doesn't matter if it sells well. It matters that the people who buy it enjoy it and get their moneys worth. The people that know what it is will appreciate it and the rest of you won't. Nobody cares if this sells well. It's all about enjoyment. Video games are a form of entertainment first and foremost long before being a business. Back when video games started they weren't seen as a way to get rich quick. They were meant to entertain. The idea of making lots of money came way later. Dirt 3 isn't meant to be a mainstream game. This isn't CoD were you only buy it because your friend or co-worker bought it. Even though you don't even really like the game and you stopped being entertained about four games ago. The fact is that Codemasters is trying to put out a quality game and give the fans what they want and make sure they are entertained while doing it. If it's a big hit I'm sure they will be happy too. I know that selling well is a sign of success. But the truth is that just because something sells well it doesn't mean it's good necessarily. It just means they convinced enough people it is good. See people tend to believe what the media tells them. Take CoD for instance, they are extremely linear and shallow corridor shooters but just because the reviewers tell you it's good you eat it up. The story sucks, the gameplay sucks, and the online sucks but you still buy it. I've never seen a game with such bad hit detection, graphics, and lag sell so well.
Man all you little kids (or full-grow adults that have the mentality of a kid) need to educate yourselves. This is a competition quality RC car. Meaning that just about everything is adjustable. These cars usually sell for $400 and up, so getting the game with it is a steal. This is obviously for people that either do competitions or just want to have a lot of fun. Truth is that all you undereducated troglodytes sound like you have the intelligence of a single celled amoeba. So you probably shouldn't get it anyway. Better yet do us all a favor and just don't get Dirt 3. I would hate to have to listen to you idiots online. Dirt 3 isn't geared towards you wannabe hardcore gamers anyway. It's for people that obviously see the sun once in a while and actually do things other then sit in there room all day playing final Fantasy VII over and over again claiming how great it is. That is why they are adding the car in because they know that most people that actually play Dirt like to get fresh air sometimes. So for you monosyllabic linguists who keep saying that this isn't a deal and that Codemasters just wants your money you should go outside and get some fresh air because all that stagnant air in your bedroom is effecting your judgment and your ability to use rhetoric to convey your point. Stop trying to act smart because your just showing how much of a idiot you really are. I'm glad Codemasters is packing in something that fans will actually like and get some use out of unlike the PoS Black Ops RC car. I bet you gullible fools bought that though didn't you? You like Activision taking your money don't you? Just because your friends think Black Ops is cool. It should have been called Black Pos. They only mixed it up a little bit in the naming.
Yes so your correct its more im buying a r/c car plus DIRT 3 bundle and less im buying DIRT 3 and plus a r/c car bundle. its a r/c car that does nothing to enhance the game. you play xbox 360 games on xbox 360. you can't play dirt 3 on r/c car, bad comparison. SO IMO it will not sell well. I hope the $300 Dirt 3 Ken Block Gymkhana RC Car Bundle is very limited i can't see it selling well.
Hey people, why buy an Xbox 360 or PS3 for a couple of hundred bucks when you can buy a Game Boy Colour less than $100? Like, they're the same thing, right? /sarcasm
@Poncho_Hachacha @thorughfire The car is worth $321.99 in the US. These pro-level stuff are expensive, it's more like the game is bundled with the car. Some are even selling them for above $400.
New Ace Combat game to feature a fully functional SU-27 fighter for $13 mill. Hey....Russia needs the money.
not to be outdone microsoft's forze 4 will come with a mazdaspeed3 and game for $23,800.00 the special edition games are getting bigger and bigger when will it stop?
He was surprised at how many peeps used chase cam... in other words by how many wussies there are playing their game. Man up people, cockpit cam is where it's at.
I can't believe there are so many negative people on here! The car is worth $321.99 in the US. Go check Tower Hobbies. This is a GREAT deal for this package! All u dummies saying that it's a $40 car from WalMart are obviously uneducated rednecks that shop @ WalMart! No one said you HAVE to buy this, but for the people that are into RC will see the value and love this package.
Looking at some of these comments, I really have to ask. Are people really planning on buying this thing? It's an rc car... For an extra $240.
I can't see anyone paying an extra $240 for this RC Car. I hate the look of it and it wouldn't keep my interest for long if I owned it. Unless you have several friends who have RC racers who you can race with, racing these things just become boring for me after 30mins. You really want to go to a RC Track and race with other people. That's the real fun of RC racing. I don't see too many people getting this. I'm sure we'll see them at Best Buy and Fry's Electronics for 1/2 the price 2-3 months after the game is released. ************************************************************* @Flint247 I would rather buy a PS3 than this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd rather buy a 64GB IPod Touch. At least I know I would use that more often then a RC Racing car.
This RC car has a brushless motor, 4 wheel drive, and is made by Traxxas. AND comes with a battery and charger. This is a good value. Since it has waterproof electronics, I highly advise you to take it out in the winter and use snow to form jumps and tracks and whatnot for it. It really is a lot of fun. I have an RC18T.Google.
RC cars? I remember the early 90's. RC cars were the best 3D gameplay money could buy. Then came the N64, and the PlayStation.
@packers91 So thats 600 for the car, 60 for the game (660) and they are charging you 300 dollars for it plus packaging...I highly doubt that.
RC cars use to be awesome but they arent what they use to be nowadays. With that being said, It doesnt seem worth the buy. 60 dollars for the game, That means alone you are paying 240 + taxes to get an RC car. I sure you can get a better RC Car then that for less then 240. If you are a super fan with the money then go ahead and buy it but again, Its a waste imo.
If i could afford it i would buy it. Summers coming in and who doesn't like good RC cars. Better than sitting in the dark with your COD nightvision goggles. That was stupid.
@bato sai - You know I'm hearing this 'no one is forcing you to buy it' line way too many times. I dig limited/special editions from time to time but I just don't forsee most people (especially gamers) who would put down the money just to get an RC car which will end up collecting dust in a couple of days WHICH IT WILL. That line just enforces your blindness to stick up for a company which I'm sorry to say just wants your money however thats not to say Codemasters make crap games either.
the car is made by Traxxas.. and they seem more then capable to put together something worth 300$... that said, I don't know what the car cost if you buy it directly from them (ie Traxxas)
ya ok they r giving u a $600 and game 4 $300 rofl. this is what happens because people insist on buying special editions. they are not giving anything away.
This RC car is top of the line stuff, youtube videos on it and just watch how great it is. I personally cant wait for the game or RC car lol LOVE IT!
I'd like to know the specs on the rc car before i would even consider paying $300 for a game and some kinda tyco like toy.
Because we all have $300 sitting around for an RC car that actually costs about $49 at Toys R Us. I'm not sure I understand the marketing behind this at all, but it would seem they are aiming this product at extremely wealthy kids who have nothing else to do with their parents' money.
For those of you complaining about the price of this RC car, it's actually quite a deal. That thing is priced at $550 on their website. It's not some regular RC car you can get over the shelf at Wal-Mart, it's a hobbyist grade RC car.
Why not a Gears of War 3 300 dollar version with replica hammerburst and lancer. Or Halo special 300 dollar edition with model Sniper Rifle and Enrgy Sword. Or a Splaser, but its a waste car????
It's already out NEXT month!? I don't know about this guys; here's to hoping it's not rushed. I want plenty of stages and cars, unlike DIRT 2 (seemed limited).
Guys this isn't some $40 TYCO jeep with a battery that lasts 5 minutes. This thing is the real McCoy. I've got a $100 bandit and it could drift round the cul de sac once the tires balled out. This thing looks spectacular
lol, if i was lookin to drop 300 on a racing game or any game id replace my loud, small hdd'ed, RROD once, choppy performing launch 360 with a 360 S. that or save the dough for the next gen consoles. or, for a racing game specifically id invest in a really good racing wheel. RC cars are cool but its just a toy...go pick one up at Toys R Us for dirt cheap.
@johnjohnsonspot I understand your point haha but each of those 18" TE37's cost at least $600 so that's quite a stretch. It's a little overpriced, but it is AWD and waterproof. I mean the NVG's from MW2 are like $13, so I'm guessing a comparative RC car like this is probably around $80 at least.
