Namco Bandai teams with Game Republic on second action adventure featuring young Goku on Nintendo's portable.
The Dragon Ball license has changed hands since Game Republic scored a critical success with 2008's Dragon Ball: Origins for the DS. Current steward Namco Bandai apparently doesn't want to mess with a winning formula, as the publisher today announced that Game Republic's Dragon Ball: Origins 2 will arrive this summer.
Origins 2 serves as a direct follow-up to the original. The game chronicles Goku's adolescent days training under Master Roshi, specifically recounting the aspiring warrior's travails against the Red Ribbon Army. Gamers will also be able to assume the role of other Dragon Ball characters, including Krillin, Bulma, and Yamcha, with the characters possessing their own special moves and abilities.
The single-player portion of the game spans eight multistage episodes that see Goku and co. fighting villains and solving puzzles in environments ranging from forests to underwater zones. The game will also include a two-player local co-op mode, where gamers fight through multiplayer-centric levels and boss encounters. These levels are unlocked by advancing through the single-player portion, and gamers can import their solo character for use in co-op play.

@Ric_SlayeR: No madame, I can assure you that Evolution was one of the most surprising and enjoyable experiences of last year. I would gladly like to see a sequel of the same quality, only with slightly more enhanced visuals than before! I'll tell you how it plays out!!
Okay... I am a big fan of DBZ, I thought DB was great, and I thought some parts of GT were okay... but I am starting to get sick of them rereleasingthe same thing on every dbz game. GIVE US SOMETHING NEW!!! At this rate, it will become the next EA sports series. Here's a good idea for a dbz game: a game that covers the entire life of Vegeta.
this first game was amazing i love it. for some reason i feel a wii version coming soon and it will be either good or bad.
@Lucho_21 yeah i am serious the only thing i liked in DB is the Bulma brief nudity scenes, Young Bulma design,Mercenary Tao fight,Tien vs Goku fight,King Piccolo Saga and the last Saga.
@linkdarkside ..Are u serious? , DB is DB, DBZ is better ... and DBGT Sucks, was the worst they could have made ...
thought they meant dragon age too. highly doubt that kind of game would work on a handheld its bout time they come out with new handhelds that it would work on
lol I thought it said DA:O2 also... This could be good too though. Too bad there hasn't really been a good DBZ game since Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for Wii
The Dragon Age: Origins/Dragon Ball: Origins confusion has started I see. Well, just to let you all know. Dragon BALL: Origins is a game based off the anime/manga series by Akira Toriyama, which the game is published by Namco Bandai. Dragon AGE: Origins is a new game IP from BioWare and is published by EA. Both series are in different genres and Namco and Atari (back when Atari had Dragon Ball publishing rights) had "Dragon" and "Origins" in their game before BioWare did. Not to mention, Dragon Ball has been around in Japan since the 80's. I hope that clears everything up!
This game is a blast, just got done playing a short session of the japanese version. Looks great as well!
Are they going to have the scene where the ninja gets Goku's bo stuck up his rear while Goku laughs "Ha Ha..Now you have a tail too!"?...didn't think so. Nice to see Arale though..Dr. Slump rules!!
Yes, finally a sequel to my favorite Dragon Ball game of all time. And one of my most hyped games of 2010.
Anyone else think Dragon Ball was better than DBZ and GT? I watched DBZ as a kid and loved it but I went back and watched DB about a year ago and found that it was much better.
Loved the first one, but I was disapointed how it ended. I hope that this one will finish the story.
I love Dragon Ball Z, but I am past the point where I blindly buy any game with its name. Do these games even sell? They must, otherwise I wouldn't see a new one ever few months.
i didn't get a chance to play the first one but it got so many great reviews that i can't wait for part 2 i love the old db series
Seeing the story didn't go that far in the first one. I'm pretty sure this one won't have Picoro. :(
Didn't really like the whole touchscreen controlling. Was hoping for something more like The Legacy Of Goku in the first one. Perhaps this one will be made "right"
i am always amazed to find that another Dragon Ball game is going to be made, there must be over fifty games milked from the franchise internationally.
Yes! Awesome awesome awesome awesome! I'm going to read the article now. I just saw Dragon Ball Origins 2 and was psyched! I mean with the lack of discussion on this game, I thought we'd never see another sequel again! Stop playing your darn shooters and thinking console games are all that, and start realizing how great some of these handheld games are! Of course, I'm a handheld gamer first and foremost. I hardly have an objective view now do I? But I don't mind, because DB: Origins 2 is arriving soon!
Never got around to playing the first one. Just might have to if this one turns out to be just as good.
