lordcrim they're just telling you that UT3 is coming out for the PS3 first and then it'll come out for the 360 and PC 2008.
Midway talks Unreal Tournament III PS3/PC exclusivity, BlackSite: Area 51 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat also on display.
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--During Sony's marathon press conference this morning, the publisher announced it had locked down a PlayStation 3/PC-exclusive deal for Midway's Unreal Tournament III until 2008.
More info on this is expected at Midway's own event, which will take place shortly. Also expected is more info on the publisher's other upcoming titles, including Stranglehold, BlackSite: Area 51, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat.
Taking place in the Starlight Room at the Fairmont Hotel, the conference will be beginning a little late, as Activision's press conference ran long.
[4:42] Staff are frantically moving the previous stage sets of sofas and the like. An announcement says that the conference will begin shortly.
[4:48] The lights dim, and a presentation starts. It is for Stranglehold from Tiger Hill Entertainment, and says "Honor is his code." Then, as a man is kicked on the floor, "Bloodshed is his only option." It tells us Chow Yun Fat returns as Captain Tequila in 2007. The trailer for Stranglehold states it will be coming in August and is not yet rated.
[4:49] PS3, 360 and PC will get a demo this month.
[4:49] A collector's edition that features Hard Boiled the movie and Stranglehold the game on one Blu-ray disc is coming.
[4:51] We see some of the gameplay, which features a "bullet time" slowing ability, so the lead character can spray bullets as he evades others' fire.
[4:53] The main character is ambushed by four bad guys, and using his time-slowing mechanism, he picks them off one by one before escaping by jumping through a window.
[4:58] David Zucker takes to the stage to talk about the upcoming titles. A pipeline of new and original IP is coming, and he names some.
[4:58] Coming this fall exclusive to PS2 is Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am from the Adult Swim series.
[4:58] Total Non Stop Action is also coming soon to the 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2.
[4:59] A video shows Ultimate Mortal Kombat on the DS, complete with an evil laugh at the end.
[5:00] Next up is a video for BlackSite: Area 51. It starts with a picture of Earth from space. "It looks like paradise from up here, doesn't it?" says the narrator.
[5:01] The game is coming September 2007.
[5:02] "From down here, it's hell..." Harvey Smith, creative director of the game takes the stage and says we will take on the role of Aaron Pierce, an Iraq war veteran. A bigger demo will be coming in August.
[5:03] "We're trying to create a beautiful thrill ride," says Smith. One of the multiplayer modes will enable you to play co-op with a friend throughout the game. More multiplayer modes will be revealed at a later date.
[5:04] Smith is obviously tired of talking, since he cuts to a video of himself talking. He explains that he wanted to make the user experience easier, so gamers don't have to constantly give their soldiers orders. A lot of the controls will be one button.
[5:06] Susan O'Conner, the writer for Gears of War, is the primary writer for the game.
[5:06] There are three main characters, Mitchell Ambrose, who is like a high school quarterback, everyone's best friend, the kind of guy who would help an old lady across the street. Then there's Grayson, who you get the impression that has been in prison or in the military, and the two are often arguing.
[5:07] Then there's Noah, a female military intelligence specialist, with more of a global perspective.
[5:07] The characters' postures reflect their morale. If they have low morale, they will take cover more and not fight as often.
[5:08] Mark Rein, vice president and cofounder of Epic Games is up.
[5:09] Unreal Tournament 3 will be coming to not only the PlayStation 3, but also the PC this November. "Some of the kids didn't seem to get that," laughs Rein.
[5:10] He loves the modding community, and is really looking forward to seeing what kind of mods users make for the game.
[5:10] Now we're treated to a demo of Unreal Tournament 3, "The Tournament for the Next Generation."
[5:12] And, rather abruptly, after the video ends, the lights go up.
I dont get this. They keep saying exclusive to get us to buy that it will only be on those systems. Even though they already have it planned on other systems. Go anywhere and you will find that the Xbox 360 version is all but announced. Gamespot, GameStop, and Amazon all have it listed at different release dates. These 3 sources are usually really on target and always seem to know what is going on before they are announced. So, if it is in all 3 spots, and Amazon and Gamestop are already selling the game through online pre orders, it is coming out, and the game is not as exclusive as Sony wants you to believe. Plus, with XBL and better Unreal Engine support, you should already expect it to be better on the 360. But at the $10 more console price, I dont know why you would want to buy this on anything but the PC anyway. That is the only way to get UT games.
Great, I am pretty pissed. I love the Unreal series and it really sucks that the 360 is not getting their fair share of the treatment. It better come to the 360.
sony is desperate they signed a deal so unreal would be exclusive for like 2 months my god microsoft is gonna beat sony like red headed step child unreal on the 360 will be alot better then the ps3 version xbl>>psn anyday
finally...next month i'll be playing Stranglehold, can't wait for this game! i'll get the PS3 Collector's Edition! =D can't wait for Unreal Tournament III too...it'll be a great game!
If I remember correctly, the 360 version was announced about 4 months after the ps3/pc ones...so i imagine the only reason sony has "exclusivity" rights is because the 360 version isnt near completion yet
i now have to get blacksite: area 51 simply for the fact that the playable character has the same name as me. the fact that it looks like an awsome game and is written by susan o'conner (who i hear is an excellent story teller) are bonuses.
I bought a ps3 to stay away from games like UTIII i might pick it up in a year or two when its in the bargain bin. Can we just put a stop to the never ending list of sci-fi shooters and bring out some UNIQUE games.
i have a 360.. and when ppl say the 360 version of UT3 will be better, that is completly wrong, its a PC game and a PC game will stay the best
I'm surprised to see the ps3 has exclusivity over UT3, because from what I had previously heard Epic is in love with the 360, however perhaps it wasn't their call...it was the publisher, midway, possibly that caused this change from their previous comments. Whatev.
Is it really a bad thing that the 360 version of UT3 is coming out later? They'll add more stuff and it'll be the best version anyway. Just look at what happened with Virtua Fighter 5.
sweet ,dunno what to get ut3 on, pc or ps3, ps3 and pc will both have mouse keyboard support and mods, 360 will not feature any of those..
Yea, one thing that for surely won't matter is the UT3 story. Stranglehold looks to be fun as hell and I really like the idea of bundling Hard Boiled along with it. Ace, really ace.
i was watching the little video on UMK for DS... is there no blood or something? if so midway just shattered my dreams of a MK game on DS... P.S UT3 for PC all the way...
I'll wait for UT2007 to hit 360 - kind of surprised that Microsoft didn't try to land the deal instead. Other than Killzone 2, MGS4, FFXIII - my PS3 will be used to collect dust this year.
I'll wait for UT to show up on 360 after a few short months for the superior online capabilities of Live. There is no sense of community on PSN right now.
UT3 another shooter on ps3. I want my ps3 to have more action, platform rpg games like ps2 did. Oh wait, I remember now, these type of games are coming out this Nov/Dec., no money for UT3 for sure.
Tired of all this exclusivity going around, what are we reverting to the Dark Ages of Video Gaming like back in the NES days...I'm just glad my PC is STILL my primary gaming source.
woot im glad they delayed it , gives me more time to play AC, Mass effect, Halo 3, GTA, COD4, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Ace Combat 6...
Well, duh! It's the only shooter coming out for ps3 this Winter -- it'll sell like crazy on the platform. It'll sell a million copies in a month on 360 if they bring it out in January or February, when there's nothing else on either platform. There's too much competition on 360 this Holiday season.
Crying???? First of all, Im glad they are delaying this games for the 360 cause If not I will be F****ing broke by the end of 2007 with all of the other 360 games. Dont you understand that the only reason they are delaying these games is because the 360 has to many competetive games till the end of 07. Developers are doing these delays so that they dont saturate the number of already great games coming to the 360. Trust me, Ill be picking up Halo 3, Mass Effect, Ass. Creed, and BioShock before I pick up UT3 or Haze. Actually gives me some breathing room in between releases. Read the articles properly, it says exclusive until 2008.
It's either Gears or GoW, though that can easily be confused with God of War...so Gears is good. The story sucked in Gears, but it was a hell of a lot better than Halo 2's. That finaly boss fight just...blew. sorry, but it wasn't anything fantastic or interesting. Maybe she'll do a better job this time around.
Well im not getting UT anymore since they stabed us 360 owners in the face buy going exclusive till next year , Epic is dead to me.
Wow, xxgangstapa777x... you're not a fanboy are you? UT3 is still going to 360, I don't know what people don't get about that. It would be killing the game if they tried to make it compete with Halo 3.
ohhh xbox 360 fanboys are going to be crying lolllll, yeap ps3 fans rejoice because ps3 is going to win this war hands downn,,
