EA to reboot NBA series

Last time i checked ovechkin was on the cover of nhl 2k10. Sure 2k was good when it was NEW back in 05. They have not done anything since. NHL 09 winner of 12 sports game of the year awards. Since you left the door open, I'll help you out. Let's talk about the NHL series before EA bought out the license. From gamerankings.. NHL 2K3- 86.86% NHL 2003- 77.67% NHL 2K4- 87.27% NHL 2004- 84.70% NHL 2K5- 86.49% NHL 2005- 76.91% Hell, 2K6 got a better rating than 06. How a bad game got better ratings than EA is laughable. It's not how a hockey game should be, it's about how a game should be, period. A game should be polished, tested, something true to the cause. Not a rushed rehash. See the downwards trend? Wonder why 2K had such a high rating in? its FIRST year? It's because they innovated, they gave us what hadn't been done before. Now both companies just update the rosters, add one new feature per year, and release it. Can you believe EA tried to buy ouy NBA rights because 2K's had the better game for YEARS? Pathetic. Speaking of NHL 09.. that was the only time EA actually made a decent product considering how bad 07 and 08 were.

Get your facts straight. Fifa has always been inferior than Winning Eleven. I'll show you, bringing actual ratings. FIFA 06- 63.30% (OUCH) PES- 90.25% FIFA 07- 85.48% PES- 86.31% FIFA 08- 85.33% PES- 88.25% FIFA 09- 84.23% PES- 86.22% FIA 10- 63.77 % PES- 82.44% Do you ever think before you post? As you can see, FIFA has always been the inferior product. Not that there aren't other games to buy, but there really aren't other games of the same GENRE to buy. Do you see another NFL game other than Madden? No? Guess why.... Has Madden been the same every year and gotten progressively worse? Yes? Guess? why.... Just because something sells a million units doesn't mean it's good. If there's no competition, it'll sell no matter what. You clearly have no clue as to what you're talking about.

If it was anybody else other then EA I would believe this, but EA just haven't had the track record for honesty in these sorta matters.

NBA live has sucked for quite a while. I have actually played 2K while having more fun than live.

i for one used to get live games until I played 2k. the 2k games r so much better because in live when u drive to the lane and get fouled it does the same thing every time, the defender jumps and u jump into him and your guy tries to through the ball up with one hand. in 2k there are so many different ways of making contact and the only way you can make a good basketball game is with good physics and live or "elite" wont have it.

LMAO you are just a EA hater. 2k only makes one good sports game which is basketball. That is it. Now with the reworking in the live mechanics they have the potential to be even better. So you keep being a EA hater because they tried to buy take two. So what if they want to buy it then let them. Im not even sure whether true responses are right in a basketball game. Does this mean I wont attempt any cushty layups or drives for fear of not being perfect and losing the ball. 2k already has a release based system which I like, any more may take the fun from it as suddenly player ratings do not matter so much. Works in skate, Im skeptical to its working in NBA Elite.

Every NBA Live game since 06 has caused disc errors on my system. I owned 06, 08, and 10, all of which fail to work for anything over 15 minutes. I've borrowed 07 and 09, they both displayed similar problems. Until EA fixes that, I won't be buying this trash series.

i'll believe it when i see a review of 8.5+ on the game. and even then i'll be skeptical.

Protip EA: just because you add Elite to the title does not make it an elite game.

I didn't get either NBA 2K10 or NBA Live 2010 this year. I'm still playing Live 09 and gave up on NBA 2K9. I hated the 2K9 game. Complete unrealistic. CPU shooting 70% in the 1st half showed how crappy the game was. Even players who have 38% FG for the season would should 65%+ in the game. lol!! What a joke. The sliders literally had to be tweaked to death to make the game playable. NBA Live 09 was a bit more realistic in stats, but the animation was broken. Hit the jump/block button and watch your guy stay on the floor and the opponent shoot over you for an easy score. Throw a pass to you player and watch him back up out of bound and catch the ball. Watch CPU player run out of bound and receive a ball with no whistle. lol!! Seriously broken. 2K9 was more broken though. Anyone who buys either of these games, I suggest you wait until the following year and get last years game for $29.99 or less if you really must play it. Don't waste $60 on either of these games ever. Neither are worth that kind of money, trust me.

EA will win only if the gameplay is top notch. They don't need former players used as gimmicks to sell well. They need to focus on the game, not their marketing; they always market well.

parhar67, EA has always sucked at making sports games, they have never had the competition until 2K to show much they suck. They put out the WORST possible sports game in history. ET for the Atari PALES in comparison to how bad they are. Don't you remember when EA went into the hissy fit, buying exclusive licencing rights to specific? sports leagues? Yeah, that was right around when ESPN/2K hockey and football were destroying them with better games that retailed for19.99 instead of EA's usual 29.99/39.99 price tags. Even IGN admits that 2K had the much better product before EA bought them out. Remember when they tried to buy out Take Two? Speaking of FIFA.. FIFA 10 sucked. 25% of the time, FIFA10's commentary actually gets the call WRONG. How can you do that? Especially when? f Fifa 98's commentary NEVER got it wrong at all. It isn't rocket science EA. Learn to make a game using common sense. Maybe some beta testing and effort couldn't hurt too. Have you read any reviews on EA's NBA vs. 2K's NBA? 2K has beaten EA for YEARS.Fifa has always been 100x worse than Winning Eleven. Go play Fifa? 10 and then play "Pro Evolution Soccer", both on the 360, and tell me Fifa's better, you won't be able to.. and that's just the sports games.

The only way EA can out dumb themselves on a "hands on control" basketball game is to release a Boxing game without button controls.

EA Sports releases the same damn game every year, Just this particular one has a name change and a roster update, who in the hell wants to pay 60 bucks for that?, I certainly don't.

They should work on Madden first. I'm tired of getting nano-blitzed in every Madden iteration, yet all EA does is band-aid the issues rather than fix the core fundamental issue... the engine.

Sorry EA, this has to be the fifth year in a row that they have supposedly come out with an innovated feature that's supposed to change the way we play basketball. And this year is supposed to be different? As much as I dislike EA, a good basketball game is good for consumers as it puts the pressure on 2K to put out a good product (especially since 2K10 was filled with bugs). But I very seriously doubt EA will deliver an "elite" experience.

@ spunde23 You obviously haven't played a little game called FIFA. That's been going from strength to strength since 07.

If this is gonna be the old boring repetitive crap EA has been putting out for years........who would actually buy this? What a waste of money, not to mention the tons of other great games coming around the time this is released. I'll be looking forward to Max Payne 3 instead(too bad Max ate too much McDonalds).

You see??? You see what happens when no one owns the exclusive rights to something?? It seems that EA is interested in reworking their whole failed NBA Live in order to compete, now if only the rest of the sports genres were open to competition...

They say they are changing engine every year. 2K has been better for a decade. EA has lost this fight. They should worry about Madden because they could be very easily losing that fight within the next 3 years or so.

I almost thought, NBA elite will feature all players from NBA Live 1 to NBA live 10 ...

Since EA decided to abandon PC, they can go to hell. Seriously, there hasn't been improvements in any sports game since 2006 or so.

EA having a monopoly on player's names (NFL at least I know they do) is the worst thing ever to happen to sports video games. last sports video games i really enjoyed (except for mario tennis/golf, virtua tennis, and some nhl games) were the sega sports dreamcast games.

Every year they "reboot" the series, this time they are just changing the name. I always give Live a chance, but seriously Live 2010 was the best version in a while and they just decide to start from scatch again? They need t find a working formula and stick with it and make the necessary updates. This is why the 2K series is and will remain on top if EA keeps rebooting every year.
