Till now there are no plans for another SW battlefront, but I really hope they are going to make one, it's one of my favorite games.
Darrell Rodriguez departs Los Angeles studio to take reins of Star Wars publisher as president.
Shortly before the D.I.C.E. Summit in early February, LucasArts announced that Jim Ward, its president of nearly four years, was abruptly resigning for personal reasons. The news came as a shock, given that he had been credited with overseeing the rebuilding of LucasArts' internal development following a major restructuring." He also helped spearhead the new team's first project, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which is being billed as a successor to the multibillion-dollar Star Wars film trilogies.
Now, two months later, LucasArts has named Ward's successor. The new president of the game arm of filmmaker George Lucas' multimedia empire is Darrell Rodriguez, the current Chief Operating Officer of Electronic Arts' Los Angeles studio. There, he helped oversee development of such games as SSX on Tour, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, and The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II. A Bay Area native, he holds an MBA from the University of California-Berkley.
Rodriguez begins work at LucasArts in mid-April, ahead of a series of major multiplatform releases from LucasArts. June will see Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures ship, followed by Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in the third quarter, and Fracture during the holidays.
No, EA will not buy out LucasArts, GL wouldn't have it. In an interview he even said that he would NEVER let another director film another star wars movie, he wants the "starwars" name to be under his belt, not someone else's. WHich is why there will not another star wars movie. Ultimatley he wouldn't have someone else buy out his company that makes star wars titles as well
Okay 1: EA sucks their only good franchise is Sims 2: Good luck to the guy from EA, i would have left to. 3: They need a Good game based on the Movies not the crap that they have, actually im pretty fond of Lego Star Wars: TCS. 4: Star Wars: Battlefront 3
Come on...COME ON, bring Battlefront 3 to Wii! I heard a release date of March 2009, but I pray it's earlier!
i want to know if star wars battlefront 3 is coming out for next gen consoles come on lucasarts just tell me please (or someone please)
The game has some interesting physics :) I will buy it for my XBOX360 :) Its strange that Lucasarts abandoned the PC :( Also Star wars Force Unleashed looks like a cool game :)
@ Iemander I guess you forgot about, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy are the sequels to Darkforces 2 Jedi Knight
EA would have a very hard time buying out LucasArts considering all of the money Star Wars has made since 1977.
Why did everyone start talking about EA buying LucasArt? It's not what the story says. It's not relevant at all. LucasArt just hired an employee of EA. Congrats to Darrel Rodriguez on the new job.
Even if EA did buy Lucasarts, im quite sure GL will have full control over Star Wars projects. hes the end all and be all of that franchise.
I also miss Outlaw. About the only good western game I've played, and I still have it. As for people saying they want remakes of games, I say NO REMAKES! Instead I want a NEW Dark Forces game with maybe a new character working with Kyle Katarn since he's a major Jedi, a NEW Shadow of the Empire game with Dash Rendar (Could be combined with Dark Forces). Also I agree with TIE Fighter II and a new X-Wing game, instead of the poor Jedi Starfighter and Starfighter games. Also we need a Republic Commando 2 since I really enjoyed the 1st game a lot, though it should be called Imperial Commando, maybe having the team either hunt Jedis or break away and work for the Rebels. Geez, all these potiental would give LucasArts plenty of games until the end of the 360 and PS3 cycles and maybe into the next generation. I remember they used to come out with a lot of LucasArts games during the PC boom, and I got almost all of them, even Grim Fandango and all of the Monkey Island games.
EA don't you dare buy Lucasarts, that company belongs to George Lucas, if you buy them I'll be so ticked.
You know the world is amiss when game execs get actor/lavalife-like "head shots". I can't wait for "Yoda in Chaos in the Windy City" and "Darth-Fu".
hey stupids don't curse lukasarts if ea takes it over the 50 years will be full of "starwars soccer" and "darkside baseball" oh don't forget "sabersking" or "force football"
@UnforeseenJay EA has a lot of money to through around, but Lucas is no slouch in the financial department. Lucas is fond of owning his intellectual properties and all things associated with them. That way only he can screw them up.
All of LucasArt's previous sins shall be forgiven if they make a PC-exclusive TIE Fighter II. I'll still be happy if they just make a new PC game... I can't believe that the last PC game they made was Empire at War, back in 2006.
Thank goodness, Jim Ward was a console humping ass. Now that an ex EA is in power, we'll see Force Unleashed on PC.. look at Mass Effect. bioware: 'not on pc evar!! *merger with ea* ea: 'get to work!'
Mauller, I agree. A remake of SotE would be awesome, as would a remake of the first 3 Dark Forces/Jedi Knight titles. The biggest caveat with that, though, would be that they need to include the originals with the remakes.
KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! KotOR 3!! Come on Mr. Rodriguez, you know you want to!!!!
This is the only piece of *star wars* media that I am highly very interested to buy and play, screw this and I would be very pissed off. I want this game to get high scores...
i too agree with bertm1975 we really need a game set in the original trilogy of star wars films and a new monkey island game and kotor 3 which is not an mmorpg of course and i share the i share the same disgust for EA as you my friend
Agreed, bertm1975. I remember when the LucasArts name guaranteed an A-1, top-drawer title. The X-Wing/TIE Fighter series, the numerous fabulous adventure games (Day of The Tentacle being my personal favourite) and, very recently, the Knights of The Old Republic games - another of those would be very welcome, indeed...
LucasArts has been pretty sluggish recently. For a company that had great franchises they've been pretty bad with a few gems. I'd like to see another KOTOR game, a return of Dark Forces, for crying out loud a BOBA FETT and bounty hunter game, more games set in the Original Trilogy and New Republic, a return of Monkey Island, Loom, and more Indiana Jones games. They're as bad as EA, who has all of Origin's property like Ultima, Wing Commander, and Crusader, and does NOTHING with them.
