Playing it right now - fantastic game - already been blackmailed by an NPC and been killed about 37 times - and i'm only level 6! The politics, the backstabbing, the HUGE dungeons! Can' believe how immersive it is considering it has 1994 graphics and sounds!

@IceJester45 Hotkey controls are found on many console RPGs including Oblivion. You may not be able to have EVERY action in the game on a button but you still get enough that you can play for quite a while before reconfiguring anything in your menu. I realise the appeal of having 40 or so abilities at your fingertips but to truly utilize the keyboard scheme one needs fingers that rival a great pianist or artist in the ability to quickly, accuratly find the action you need to save your character at any given time. When I play Medieval Total War on pc for example, finding keys like Insert or Page Up takes my eyes(and fingers) off the mouse, the rest of the keyboard, and the screen which often leads to frustrating mistakes or annoying pauses. And while menus in conventional RPGs usally become ridiculously large and this large inventory IS easier with a mouse. Modern RPGs are moving away from large inventories in favor of more realistic and console friendly inventory management.

@BFEL, I totally disagree with your assessment of keyboard-based controls. What constitutes good control is largely a matter of opinion, but I find hot-keyed command to be far more intuitive than menu-driven gameplay one finds on the consoles. Also, I find most menus to be much easier to navigate with a mouse.

to IceJester45- While I agree that plenty of PC RPGs have a more desireably complex storyline and gameplay system I'd like to say the controls of a console game just end up more intuitive while I would like to see more console RPGs adopt the complexities older gamers love on PCs I feel that PC RPGs are outdated in a world where you can have a controller to access all the features of that circular lump of plastic in the palm of your hand why go through the hassle of playing on a computer in which you have to juggle your mouse arrow keys and every other tiny hotkey a designer can think up. There are 104 keys on a keyboard and ten fingers to access these with whereas an xbox controller has 14 input areas-all easily in reach of ones digits. While old PC games likely have more content they just become logistically impossible to operate. And the content in question tends to be randomly generated from few templates.

well ...... you could always upgrade your system,...... this is what im running and i can even play crysis no probs dell 5150 p4 duo core 3.20ghz each 4 gig ram geforece 8500gt (yes its old and probly the last upgrade i make on my comp is the graphics card) and a sound card that is obsolete i also am able to run win 7 64bit ultamate if you email me your system specs i can help you with the upgrading i did mine piece at a time the biggest things are making sure yoiu have enough ram and a decent graphics card my email is rageingdragon@yahoo.com if you are unsure weather or not you can run a game go to canirunit.com it will tell you what games you can run before you buy them join me at jigglysfunhouse.net the sexiest gamming community in the world :) tell them ragequit sent you

@ IceJester45 I wish I could experience a good PC RPG that's actually on the PC. I played Oblivion on the 360 and it was a really good game. To be honest my computer sucks too bad to play PC RPG's, instead I play old-timey RTS's. @ Thomasskins Buy the GOTY. I don't know if the experience playing Oblivion on PS3 is the same as on the 360, but the bugs weren't really that bad. And besides, the strange things that happened to me on Oblivion were hilarious :)

I got the GOTY version of Morrowind and played it for hours and hours and hours...I then got the GOTY of Oblivion and did the same thing. These games are just too amazing.

@ Thamasskins you should definetly get the GOTY edition for PS3 because that is the one i play and through the 200 hours i put in that game it only froze once.

Oblivion IV game of the year version or the original Oblivion IV, im not sure which to get, I need a little advice please... Both games are the same price eventhough GOTY version holds more content (expansions) which is a bit strange, I would have assumed the GOTY version to be priced a little higher because of the extra content compared to the original Oblivion. Im wondering if this is because of the bugs GOTY has, iv heard that it sometimes freezes and crashes the PS3? Because of this im not sure which to get, my head says GOTY because of the extra content but if it is buged I think I might be better off buying the original, if you have played GOTY version is it badly buged, would i be better off getting the original? (To thomasskins) I've played Oblivion on The Ps3, and It's much less confusing, definetily. If you get stuck somewhere in a quest you can always go to your sack and look at the quest portion, which gives you a good idea of what to do next, as well as Setting something as your main quest puts a marker to your next needed location. Dragon age is a great game too, but oblivion has very good graphics and So much more to do, if you wanted to you could go into a town and follow someone around, watching what they do, what they work as, Throughout the day. In my opinion Oblivion has much more to offer, in terms of playability and time :) - Check out "Red Faction: Guerrilla"

definately get oblivion i have played dragon age and well it might suit others but it didnt do it for me i like more first person rpg eg. oblivion and fallout 3 also i would love to play morrowind again but.. i tried and frankly the going so far back in graphics terms irritated me would love a re make

I dont know what to do get Oblivion GOTY or Dragon Age, I want a game that i can play for hours and loose myself in it, i played Morrowind on PC years ago and found the graphics brilliant for the time but found the game a little confusing always strugling to know what to do next which slowed gameplay down, so i need a little help tp make up my mind, if you have played Oblivion on ps3 what do you think of it as a whole, i know it looks amazing and over 200 hours of gameplay 400+ in my case lol, but is it hard, confusing, slow gameplay? Id like to hear your take on it if you have played or are still playing, thank you :)

Now, granted, your Breath of Fire games and Final Fantasy games (prior to 7 anyway - I don't care what anyone says, FF7 is just a bunch of selfish whining with big swords - and FFT is more RTS than RPG) are fun, they'll lose every time to the solid (and more in-depth due to greater control flexibility) PC RPGs that are released every year by both big-brand and indie game companies. But let's forget all these fancy games for a moment and let me pose a couple of questions to you. When was the last time you played a hardcore in-depth text-MUD like Achaea? Do you even know what a MUD is? One last thing -- IceJester45, way to remember Planescape Torment. You leveled up.
