Epic Mickey planned as four-game series

Junction Point's Warren Spector says before original Mickey Mouse game shipped in 2010 he had a four-game story arc in mind for the series.
Disney's Epic Mickey franchise may see at least four iterations, according to comments from Junction Point founder Warren Spector. In an interview with MCV, the designer explained that before the first Epic Mickey title was out the door in 2010, he had plans for the series' story to span four games.
On top of this, he said he had at least three new cycles of "innovation" to introduce to the series, the newest of which is two-player co-op that will be featured in the upcoming Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Spector said he knew he wanted to introduce cooperative gameplay to the series even before he began initial production on the original Wii-exclusive Epic Mickey.
Spector also took time during the interview to speak to the polarizing critical reaction to the original Epic Mickey. He said once Junction Point shipped the title, it was no longer his or the publisher's, but rather gamers'. Spector said he could not accuse players of misunderstanding the title because "the gamer is always right."
"People got it just fine, but to be honest, nobody is going to say 'No, I don't want everybody to love my game,'" Spector said. "Of course you want people to love your game, but if you can't have that I would much rather polarize people and have people love it or hate it, than feel it was just all right."
Spector went on to reveal that Junction Point received more fan mail for Epic Mickey than any other title he had worked on in 29 years combined. For more on the Epic Mickey franchise, check out GameSpot's review of the original and preview of the upcoming game Power of Two.

1 Like well, i loved 1st game. had issues, but def worth playing. havent played #2 yet, but i will get it at some point.
was it just me that disliked epic mickey? with it`s horrible camera and actual platforming. and for this game to have 3 more sequels........just shoot me now.
1 Like i played the first game at my nephews house and enjoyed it. now that this one is for xbox, i may consider checking it out! not at 60 bucks worth tho
i get so many youtube ads for this game and its annoying because when ur playing it with a game up you have to minimize and skip because they are long
man i remember seeing released character art photos and it looked very grim and interesting but then the game came out and it was kind of not what i expected...
2 Like Mickey's best entry, Castle of Illusions on the Genesis!! I loved that game! Showing my age a little. Now I wanna go find that game and add it to my collection.
1 Like I still plan on getting the Wii version that debuted a while back, its just I gotta get through all these other high quality games like Max Payne, Mass Effect 3, Witcher2,Skyrim,BF3, etc., before I can even think about it. Too many good games releasing and not enough time to invest in them.

@chilly-chill Lol porting to 360/ps3 wouldn't make it better controll is more suited for Wii.

1 Like I enjoyed the original a lot , it was underrated , people for the most part really gave it a lot of hate for small problems over looked in other games all the time. Personally I didn't see any glaring problems at all (though it wasn't as epic as it could've/should've been).
I hated it. The game had a lot of good ideas and concepts behind it but didn't really deliver on any of them. At its best its just a basic platformer. I think some people forced themselves to like this game because its Mickey Mouse, its called Epic, and they are tired of the yearly COD. I can't believe they are going to make 4 of these.
@KBFloYd 4 titles is milking? If so then almost every major game ever made has been milked.

@KBFloYd Warren saying he's planning on there being 4 titles in the entire series and announcing each release date is completely different. I don't see why it matters , planning 4 and not telling anyone until release of getting it out to begin with...
1 Like I enjoyed the first game. It had its problems, but overall its a quality game. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns, with them knowing about those problems going in.
