Nice to see the two games I play the most, FIFA12 and BF3 in the top ten. Football, errr .."soccer", is the world game, you haters lol. Baseball sucks.
Euro fever helps FIFA 12 reclaim the top spot for a ninth time this year, overhauling Ghost Recon.
EA's FIFA 12 reclaimed the top spot last week after knocking Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier from number one. After three consecutive weeks at the top, Ubisoft’s new shooter dropped down to number two. This was the ninth time in the 38 weeks since its debut that FIFA 12 has placed at the top of the chart. Dropping one place too is Max Payne 3, which placed at number three for the week.
Last week saw two new entries in the top 40: Lollipop Chainsaw and Gravity Rush. Suda 51's latest creation about a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader managed to place the stronger in its first week, debuting at number four. The long-awaited Vita title just missed out on the top 10, with the 29th retail game available for the system debuting at number 11. Activision Blizzard’s Diablo III flew up the chart last week, jumping from number 22 to number six, apparently due to ongoing supply issues to shops being resolved.
Battlefield 3 drops one spot from fourth to fifth for the week. Staying in the top 10, Westeros RPG Game of Thrones finished at seven and Sniper Elite V2 placed at eight. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, which has been moving up the chart slowly as we get closer to the Olympics in July, placed at nine. For a second week running Dirt Showdown claims the number 10 spot.
This week sees the release of the Civilization V expansion pack Gods & Kings, as well as the latest entry in the Lego series, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, the new Kinect game from the creator of Dark Souls, also hits stores this week.
All-format charts for the week ending 16 June 2012:
1. FIFA 12
2. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
3. Max Payne 3
4. Lollipop Chainsaw
5. Battlefield 3
6. Diablo III
7. Game of Thrones
8. Sniper Elite V2
9. Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games
10. Dirt Showdown
I'm an American, and I'm very sad to see very few others who love the game like I do. If you like soccer in America, there is a 50% chance you will be called a communist. The rest of the world plays it, with passion. I just don't understand.
I'm always torn between my hatred for EA and their grip on the gaming world... and my sheer adoration for Fifa... Same can be said for the madden series, they have too much of a monopoly on the licensing for these titles and it makes it difficult for other games to break into the market.
Competition breeds innovation. Look at how often the newest fifa or madden is just the same game with modified menus and updated rosters.
Fifa12 top spot? Are you kidding me? Anyone who play fifa12 PC online will know this game Suck!!!!! Full of bugs, and now not sync with server problems All the time during online multiplayer game, EA, screw you !!!
Football is tight. Sure American football is boring, yes, this includes all of the Americas except Argentina and Brazil, but European football is just masterful. I would say, the only time Americans are interested in football is during the World Cup. Would I call it the best sport in the world? No. But then again, I am an American so what would I know about football.
Man do the europeans and just about everyone else but Americans, and maybe Canadians, love their soccer. ,With that I am American and I love Fifa. It's the only sports game I own and will ever own for the forseeable future. Sadly though, I do not prefer watching soccer over the other major sports.
There ARE other major sports ??? !!!! wow.In the UK (Football) because you kick the ball is THE Sort ;).Ps i find it strange that the US has very little interest in Football but has still managed to brainwash most of the world into calling it Soccer :P.
@ZOD777 I think UEFA Euro 2012 add on to fifa 12 was complete rip off and an insult to all fifa owners..1800 ms points which is 26 dollars, and what do you actually get out of it ...no qualifying rounds, only 20 fully licensed teams out of 53..constant freezing..many fictional players names..hundreds upon hundreds of complaints forced EA to release a patch to fix bugs in the game.
for those who bought this rip off from EA ...I actually feel sorry for you..
It's amazing that Battlefield 3 after around 8 months from it's release date and selling more than 15 millions units, still rocking on top 5. Go Battlefield 3, totally deserve it, Best FPS Multiplayer in the history. BF3 FTW!!!
@Aria1368 likely has to do with the fact that the Close Quarters expansion is being gradually released this month (basically throughout the whole month for different platforms / different eraly accesses)
