Final Fantasy Type-0 set for October in Japan
Two-UMD-disc action RPG coming out this year; retails for 7,700 yen.
With Final Fantasy XIII already out and its sequel's release date set, it was only a matter of time until Square Enix confirmed the release of the two other Final Fantasy titles in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series: Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0. At long last, the company has finally revealed the release date of the latter in Japan: October 13.
The announcement that came with a brand-new trailer was made during the United States of Odaiba event, which started on July 16 and will carry on until August 31. Previously, the game was set for a summer release this year, but due to "various circumstances" stemming from the April PlayStation Network outage, the game's release schedule was pushed back.
The trailer itself showcased a blend of in-game action and cutscenes, introducing possible antagonist and high-ranking commander of the Milites empire, Cid Aulstyne; Suzaku's head of magic, Arecia Al-Rashia; Suzaku's 174th director, Khalia Chival VI; and Milites empire Brigadier General Qator Bashtar. The game's theme song, dubbed "Zero," is sung by Japanese group Bump of Chicken.
The action role-playing game will retail for 7,700 yen and will come in two UMD discs. An English version of the game has yet to be announced. For more information, check out GameSpot's coverage of the game.
