Men's fashion magazine spread sees Square Enix heroes trade in buckles and straps for silk shirts and slacks.
The cast of Final Fantasy XIII-2 has traded in their impractical everyday wear for new designer duds from Prada.
Square Enix today announced that a handful of characters from its recent role-playing game will be featured in the pages of men's fashion magazine Arena Homme+, adorned in clothes from Prada's 2012 Spring/Summer collection.
The layouts feature Lightning, Noel, Snow, Sazh, and Hope, kicking back in mostly casual attire like printed silk shirts and slacks.
This is not Square Enix's first dalliance in the world of fashion. Last year, the publisher teamed up with Musterbrand to create a Deus Ex: Human Revolution clothing line featuring jeans, shirts, and a trenchcoat inspired by the game.
Lmao, its the future..gets a lot of shut ins out to buy new threads. Can imagine it now "Hi, Im commander sheppard, and I like wearing Chinos :)"
So, how many of you guys have anything with "Prada" on it? I got none... if the FFXIII-2 casts are wearing adidas starwars tees... then I can relate. A case of wrong target audience?
Square Enix should stop caring about fashion and start caring about good gameplay in their Final Fantasy games.
Can anyone say Lightning, Serah, Fang, and Vanille in a Victoria's Secret catalog? That would make all of my strange and lonely fantasies come true.... Damn I need a girlfriend....
to be fair to square enix, they planned on doing something very similar and i think in many ways they did, with the body build of Aki from the FF movie. They claimed that they had a goal of creating a virtual actress bigger than just a character in a movie.
SE rep: "FFXIII-2 characters will be modeling prada!" Fans: "Wheres Versus?" SE rep: "We're going to be releasing a 3DS game" Fans: "Wheres Versus!?!?!?" *mob slowly forming* Thinking (SE rep: "Oh god these fans are gonna slaughter me,but I can't give any info about versus! What else could possibly pacify them????") SE rep: "...Look! a Kingdom Hearts 3 video on Andriasang!!!" *Crowd disperses and rushes to laptops and PCs* SE rep "HA! suckers, time to make my escape and get our developers back to making games no one wants."
LMAO at the whiners. Characters from a game are going to be in a magazine wearing branded clothes. WHO GIVES A F*CK!?
Game are becoming a part of mainstream culture. Personally I don't mind stuff like this happening. In fact I think it is kinda cool. Hope is not lookin half bad in that get up.
@Suikogaiden Why wouldn't they. I consider myself a 'gamer'. Started playing videogames in the 8 bit era and havnt stopped playing ever since. AND, now here's the twist you see, I also wear Prada. And not the boring black suits they have that anybody could look good in, no, I buy their prêt-à-porter/runway collection stuff. And even though their s/s 2012 menswear isn't my most favorite collection of the season I still bought the shoes and the same shirt lightning is sporting. I also wore prada when my character reached lvl 50 in skyrim yesterday. ...So what was your point again?
Sooo what exactly is the BAD part you guys are seeing in this? There will be bunch of FF characters in a magazine, so what? I see no reason to start crying about it...
I'm I the only one who thinks they look significantly better in regular clothes than their zippers, pockets, stupid goggles, headphones, laced pink wardrobe?
Uhh...I are somewhat confuse now. (Bad grammar intended, by the way) And we please just have the designs of Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshitaka Amano back? They're better than this stuff...
Wow you know your franchise is starting to rot and you are desperate to get money from it anyway possible when you stuff like this.
 Funniest announcement I've heard in weeks, but at the same time very sad to see SE sink to such a level of mediocrity.
So is there anyone weak minded enough to buy Prada because some characters from FF13-2 are wearing them? Now if it was were Edgar and Locke from FF6 or Cloud sign me up lol not really.
You know... If Square Enix were in desperate need of money they could always, well... RELEASE FF VERSUS 13. :/
