Personally I can't wait. I love creating mods and levels for games. Ya, there will be a bunch of dipsticks that make crazy levels, but boo hoo don't use them. I'm glad we all have a reason to play again. As for @grim0187 ... riiight. It's not like no one bought this. You can play cross platform, I'm sure that'll affect the custom maps. Not to mention the game sold 2m copies in just the US. And .7m of those were PC.
Free Portal 2 level editor arrives May 8
Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC hits PC and Mac machines in under two weeks; no word on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 releases.
Valve's highly regarded game Portal 2 will add a puzzle editor for the PC and Mac on May 8, the company announced today. The editor--announced last October--will arrive as part of the free Perpetual Testing Initiative downloadable content.
The puzzle editor will allow players to create, share, and download Portal 2 levels. Players can publish their creations to the Steam Workshop, where users can browse, vote on, and select other levels to try out.
No mention was made of the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC coming to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and as of press time, Valve had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
The PS3 version of Portal 2 supports Steam, but no Steam Workshop support on that platform has been announced. The Xbox 360 version of Portal 2 does not feature Steam integration of any kind.
The Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC is the second batch of postrelease add-on content for Portal 2. It follows 2011's free Peer Review content, which hit all platforms on October 4.
