MTV Games and Electronic Arts to bring their highly anticipated rhythm game to the PS2, announce 10 more tracks including Stones, Clash, NIN.
LEIPZIG, Germany--Previously confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Harmonix announced today that Rock Band will be coming to the venerable PlayStation 2 platform. The PS2 version of the game will feature "many" of the modes of the 360 and PS3 games, and will also incorporate some all-new gameplay elements.
European versions of Rock Band will also be getting localised content for the different countries in the region, both downloadable and on-disc.
The following 10 songs were also announced for Rock Band, and all will be original versions:
Rolling Stones -- "Gimme Shelter"
Deep Purple -- "Highway Star"
The Clash -- "Should I Stay or Should I Go"
Faith No More -- "Epic"
Smashing Pumpkins -- "Cherub Rock"
Radiohead -- "Creep"
Beastie Boys -- "Sabotage"
Jet -- "Are You Gonna Be My Gir"”
OK Go -- "Here It Goes Again"
Nine Inch Nails -- "The Hand That Feeds"
Rock Band's on-disc lineup now totals 26 tracks, including Metallica's "Enter Sandman," Nirvana's "In Bloom," and Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive."
The game is scheduled for release in the US on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the 2007 holiday season, and it is meant to be available across Europe from early 2008. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's preview.
Im not hoping for AC/DC as much as other people are. Sure they are great and all, but I prefer some of these other bands over them.
"Many" of the modes? Hmm, I'm guessing no online for we ps2-only owners. Otherwise...Hell Yes!!! Oh, yeah. Virtualtofu! Yes.
I hope they have an AC/DC song in this because not a single guitar hero has had one ,but if they do have one I hope it dosent mess me up when I am playing AC/DC on real guitar.
great, they finally include a radiohead song in one of these games and its CREEP!? wtf, while it may be a decent choice for an early easy song, to get ppl to learn the gameplay mechanics, any true radiohead fan will tell you this is the worst radiohead song to include, THOM YORKE himself hates this song . . .
SEET NIN IN A RYTHM GAME IM EXCITED and whomever said with teeth was a bad album should shoot himself in the larynx cause lyrically it is astounding die all u haters
it doesnt say anywhere that its just releasing a ps2 version in europe...it does say it will release in europe but not just europe
A good reason they still have this going for the PS2 (which I absolutely marked out for when I heard this news) is because they know the PS2 is still in many, many homes all over the world, which equals more money in sales of Rock Band. I can't wait until November. Even if it's snowing that day, I'm buying that game right after my morning class!
I really wish they chose to put a different NIN song in the game besides "the hand that feeds" because with teeth is one of the worst albums I have ever heard in my entire life. Think I'll be getting Guitar Hero 3 instead.
Should just be for xbox 360 and ps3. Ps2 would just be to complicated to enjoy the experience. How do you download more songs? Do you have to buy a multitap just for this game? I think i'd be easier for the better concoles.
great news that its coming onto PS2!!! I wonder if the PS2 version will retail for less than the next gen versions it would be rather nice if it did
It's about time they put a Metallica song on one of the Guitar Hero-like games! Very excited for this!
I want things to jump to the next generation. Im not downing the ps2 owners out there, but now if it happens to come to the wii they'll send a ps2 port over to it with no effort at all on the wii's graphics and control scheme (only speculation).
How nice to see it'll be on PS2. Let's see... I have a PS2, an Xbox 360 and a Wii. Why do I need a PS3 again?
Beastie Boys, OK GO, Jet, The Clash? GEDDIN! Now just to wait for the White Stripes (Icky Thump) & Arctic Monkeys (Brianstorm) and this will be the best thing ever! But can you do a White Stripes. You know, can you sing and play guitar at the same time with the same profile
It says there will be localized versions for Europe clearly suggesting to me at least that it will be released in the US with the mentioned tracks, but tracks catering to the European markets will also be made available there
This should be a great game, but the new tracks are horrid. I'll be buying the full bundle anyway, however.
Does anybody else realize that they said the ps2 version is for europe only?!?!?!?!? they lure us in and trick us by saying its on ps2, but not thats its only in europe. And i got my hopes up because i have a ps2 and a wii :(
Getting four peripherals connected to the PS2 shouldn't be a problem. Singstar attaches two microphones to one USB port, and the Buzz games attach 4 Buzz controllers to one USB port. Of course, attaching the instruments via the USB port would definitely make the game incompatible with existing Guitar Hero guitars, but it's probably incompatible by design anyway.
They Should put ''Walk this way'' in rock band it would be funny singin rap and playing guitar i think you should support me maybe we can achieve it xD
Thank god. I went with a Wii but this looks awesome. good thing i still have my ps2. btw, its coming out in the us before it comes out in europe.
Now that list beats the hell out of the new announcment of songs for Guitar Hero 3. ROCK BAND FTW!!!!!
I'm going to guess that Lead and Bass guitar will use the two controller ports, and the Drums and Mic will use the two USB ports. That seem like a possible solution.
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats gonna be bad ass OOO and how to get four players????? maybe multi tap!!!!
