What was the technical issue? Oh yeah, it said 800 mp and then when you pressed A to go to the next screen it said it was free and would not let you download. But for what I could see, the DLC is not really DLC, but it's more like a code to unlock the content that is already in the disc. Yes, I do believe all the content of this DLC is already in the disc.
[UPDATE]: After Epic says Horde Command Pack "temporarily delayed due to a technical issue," Microsoft says it will make Nov. 1 release after all.
Halloween was yesterday, but Gears of War 3 fans are receiving a trick instead of a treat today, as Epic Games has announced a last-minute delay for the game's first downloadable content, the Horde Command Pack. Epic announced the delay late last night on its official forums.
"The scheduled Horde Command Pack release for Gears of War 3 is temporarily delayed due to a technical issue," announced an Epic community manager. "We apologize to those of you who are anxiously waiting to play. We know this is disappointing news as we've seen a lot of posts today showing excitement for this content. We have folks working around the clock to resolve this issue ASAP so you can all play and enjoy the Command Pack."
Originally planned to launch today, the 800 Microsoft points ($10) Horde-themed content includes three new maps, three new playable characters, new fortification upgrades, a pair of new weapon skins, and 250 additional gamerscore to acquire. The Horde Command Pack is the first of four DLC packs scheduled to arrive for Gears of War 3 in the coming months. The second DLC pack, RAAM's Shadow, will feature a single-player component and is set to debut for 1,200 Microsoft points ($15) on December 13. Players can purchase the Gears of War 3 Season Pass today for 2,400 Microsoft points ($30) on Xbox Live. If purchased separately, those packs will cost players 3,600 Microsoft points ($45).
[UPDATE]: The delay on the Horde Command Pack might not last very long at all. Microsoft representatives have since said the add-on will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace later today.
Gears of War 3 was released worldwide on September 20 and sold more than 3 million units during its first week. For more on Epic Games' third-person shooter, check out GameSpot's review of Gears of War 3.
@chilly-chill, Well i would suggest try playing online 'Ranked' matches, and not Private 'Local' matches.
might get this pack, pretty good price, considering 2 weapon skins, new players, achievements and 3 maps, i no the other stuff isnt really worth anything but compared to Call of duty dlc this is relatively good value, im glad they are releasing a campaign dlc that has heaps more content (for 15 dollars) still really good value and adding to the games universe is really great to see, again something COD never does, i fkn hate COD
@chilly-chill it was noob friendly when the added the sawed off... as for the dlc its about damn time ima go check but when I went this morning there wasn't anything.
@Chilly-chill I totally disagree.. Maybe if you're only playing as a level 10 on 'quick match'.. but once you level up and get put in games with higher level players, especially in ranked matches, everything changes. You just have to keep playing and level up.
@uncagedpaul_86 I completely agree... the only DLC i dislike is performance enhancing add-ons that make you stronger than people that dont pay. This doesnt happen often(luckily) but when it does, it affects my decision to purchase a game. For $10 I don't mind the price/content of this DLC, but Im still so far behind leveling up my horde skillz and finishing the campaign/achievements and versus matches(of all kinds) i dont really 'need' this dlc yet. Im sure many have been waiting :) Put it this way: I have had a lot of fun playing cod's with my friends, but they all bought the map packs for mw2 and black ops, but I didnt see enough in it for me. Many, MANY players did, and thats fine, I just think it was very expensive for what you got.
@SolidTy and all the people who said this DLC was "on disc" - Well if its on the disc, why arent they having problems "putting" it up on the marketplace? Im not disagreeing that there could be/would be, but it doesnt seem like this first DLC was, otherwise you would just be downloading a "key" to unlock it. @chilly-chill You seriously think gears plays like CoD? wth? other than the obvious "cod is FPS" gears is "TPS", and things like no killstreaks, upgradeable anything, and it take half a clip to kill someone... It must be the shot gun battles, or chainsawing.. or maybe the digger? or is it the silverback? the horde mode(s)? the cover system? the active reload system? the cover-shooter gameplay? the secondary vision and ability to tag enemies? The events? beast mode? In fact, there isn't one gun from gears in ANY cod, and vise versa... My guess is that you are someone that says, "the hammerbursts zoom is first person, its just like CoD"... but so is the sniper rifle... oh, one thing, both games have grenades!! they are completely different ideas of grenades, but still.. XD
Dear Epic Games...since the locust have tickers and stuff...how bout we get a DLC giving the gears a pack of wild dogs that drops out of the sky in mini cages once a goal is completed in horde mode...that would be sweeeeet!
So they decided to release this DLC just about a month after the original game was released. Just one small month. This means the DLC content was already developed and ready but not added to the main game so they could extract $10 (17% more) from the poor sobs who'll continue to pay for this. This is what I hate about DLC. Cheating the gamers. What happened to a game coming out with all the necessary features already in it? I hate DLC for this reason alone. DLC was created for a good cause but Dev studios are exploiting it like crazy. Started with Oblivions Horse Armor and CoD rehashed maps for $15 (1/4 cost of game) and it's been all downhill since.
Well I already bought the season pass for it no regrets here. I just hope Epic fixes ALL of the issues.
ai caramba... all those who are crying - jebus - relax... until next weekend (so hope I :) are we all playing it...
Take your time, and do it right. I'm fine with waiting - assuming this last minute fix is not only critical, but hopefully a quick fix that won't take more than a day or two.
Sorry fellas but. DLC = Robbery Half of the users I'm seeing defending the delay of this DLC, are some of the same people I see posting in other DLC Related articles about how its a waste of money and it should be on a disc. Make up your minds. Can't hate and talk about how DLC is stuff thats on a disc, then change your mind and blindly defend a company that has made millions off of a huge game like these when they delay their DLC the last minute. Seriously. DLC is stuff that should have been, but was taken out and created for the sole purpose of scamming some more money out of people. I know people don't buy it, and dont even bother telling me "Well you dont HAVE to buy it" because I've read that same line of an excuse over a million times and game developers are still making millions at our expense by releasing products that are not fully complete. When you have Day One DLC launch with the game or "Exclusive Preorder DLC", that should be your reason to put your flag up in the air and call B.S. Because it is all stuff that was clearly in the game before it was locked out of the disc. No I do not own a 360, but I'm not one of those guys who gets off on starting with someone based on something as stupid as what console they game on.
Games and cars are much alike. You can buy a normal car and some people will be happy with it, but, some people might want to add a body kit, or swap the wheels, or change the colour. Just realize that some people like the way things are and others like to add things to them to make them more interesting. You dont have to buy DLC, so dont b**ch about it!
@Overlord93 It happens, believe it or not. It's a price of this current generation with all the online features.
The funny thing is, it's not even DLC. I don't understand how they managed to have a "technical issue" with content which is already on the disk. lulz
Must be the impredictible freezing issues. Official thread in the Epic Forums has grown very large and still counting. Can't wait for a new patch.
I still never received my Gold Lancer/ Gold Hammerburst, and no "flame" skins for my weapons. Stupid Epic Games !!!
Eh, stuff happens. I'm a little disappointed, but I've got plenty to hold me over until it does get released. As others have said, I'd rather them release it when it's ready rather than rushing a buggy mess out the door.
They have gone too far with this DLC crap. If the game is as good as it's supposed to be they would need to put some much DLC. (yeah yeah it gives a game longevity) but a great classic game lasts decades. (With no need for DLC).
the funny things is theres some 17 year old crying ripping down his gears posters in his room and mashing his hatred on his keyboard in a forum somewhere on the net on how much epic has ruined his life.. im go check the gears forum for laughs now !!1
Well this is bunk. Make Gears of Triple interesting again please. I need this DLC, or Battlefield 3 will take over my life.
peoples are never happy when something gets delayed. there's more important things than playing games. just be patient.
I'm sure they would have sent it out if they could have. It's better than getting buggy DLC and waiting for a patch to make it playable.
It doesn't matter what system, delayed DLC, is no excuse, since should of been in the game in the first place.
