Series design director Cliff Bleszinski confirms that development has wrapped on Epic Games' latest Xbox 360-exclusive third-person shooter.
The original Gears of War trilogy is finally finished. Series design director Cliff Bleszinski today posted an update to his Twitter account confirming that Gears of War 3 has gone gold in advance of its September 20 launch date.
The news was accompanied by a picture of a cake to mark the occasion. The cake, designed to look like the Gears of War 3-branded Xbox 360 hardware, contained a congratulatory message in icing celebrating the game's completion.
Originally pegged to debut in April, Gears of War 3 begins with the last human city having been obliterated and series hero Marcus Fenix trying to protect the remaining humans from the Locust horde as well as from the newer, deadlier foe, the mutating Lambent.
Gears of War 3 will be available in three versions this September: standard ($60), Limited ($80), and Epic ($150). The centerpiece of this year's $150 Gears of War 3 Epic Edition will be a limited-run Marcus Fenix statue.

Im happy they brought female characters in this game,support the badass girls who love to fight,and play games like my sister,and girlfriends. You know girls are fighting in the war,and you dont see girls in call of duty -___- plus girls in gears are smaller then guys,so its harder to hame athe them,for head popping =]

Although Gears 3 brings the curtain down on the trilogy, it does not mean the end of the Gears universe. Cant Wait for this.
Women characters on the front line doesn't make this game more realistic. I wonder what these soldiers eat to stay that big?
As much as I don't like the Multiplayer. Just could never get into it. I don't think we were ment for each other but, I am excited to see how this ends. I loved Gears story and GoW 1 is still my favorite 360 game to this day.

Something i have been noticing on these pages more and more around the web has me a bit riled. People being sexist about women being added to the GOW roster. We have been playing an all male GOW for a while and theres been no problem but the moment they hand Alexis a lancer...blasphemy!!! Come on people.... us guys aren't the only ones who game we need to suck it up and be more open to female characters and even female protagonists. I saw on one site some idiot saying about women shouldn't be on the front line. Well im pro equality (hell after these many years this shouldnt need to be a fight) but besides that; for this game setting, for instance, the human race is being destroyed and we are vastly outnumbered so we have to constantly fight. Wouldnt you WANT every able bodied man AND woman to fight the war? Rather than handicap yourself with the "no girls allowed" policy? We as men need to be real MEN and stop this petty "women belong in the kitchen" BS and realize (as im sure most of you did in teens) that women make things more fun and to be honest without my wife I would be lost without them. Thumbs down me if you wish but you know im right.

@gusnirdo Gone Gold means the game is ready for the manufacturing phase...then the data will be turned into the actual software/product you buy in the store. In other words Gears of War 3 is finally done being polish and will be ready to ship on time with no chance of being delayed past the release date which is great news for my girlfriend (she only plays G.O.W. 2 which drives me crazy).

@Solidty Guess I just didn't understand the argument. It was only $400 if you wanted to pay for the higher end model. The fact there were cheaper models meant it didn't have to be so pricey...

I love it when a game is done a good distance away from it's release date. Hopefully they'll spend that time to look for bugs and eliminate them fast.

I already know their gonna come out with a version that has all of the dlc so i'll wait 4 that. I have plenty of other options 2 choose from in the months of Sept.-Dec.
