I actually think carmine should live in gears 3. the new carmine is awsome! not one of those whiny bastards in gears of war one and two
Comic-Con 2010: Cliff Bleszinski and Ron Fergusson debate whether the COG squad member should live or die and offer the latest on the Gears movie.
Who Was There:The panel initially consisted of Gears of War 3 design director Cliff Bleszinski and executive producer Ron Fergusson, but they were later joined by Gears universe author Karen Traviss and voice actors Carlos Ferro (Dominic), Lester Speight (The Cole train), and Michael Gough (Carmine).
What They Talked About: Bleszinski and Fergusson kicked off the panel by discussing where they were at in terms of development for the game. With the release date set for April 2011, Fergusson said that everything was coming together nicely and that the team was focused on four pillars: campaign, Horde mode, Beast mode, and competitive multiplayer.
Each mode has been designed carefully, and the two men explained that Beast mode is not meant to be a "reverse Horde mode" but a mode that is class based. Playing a Ticker is entirely different from playing a Berserker, so depending on individual play styles, gamers can pick which enemy type represents them best.
The Gears of War series was always meant to be a cooperative experience and never meant to feel tacked on, they said. Having four player co-op has its own challenges in terms of storytelling, as the story is now witnessed by three other people. As a result, the only way to see a character's specific story is to play as him or her.
On the subject of co-op, split-screen co-op for the campaign, as well as Horde mode and Beast mode, will be available. But four-player split-screen would be too technically challenging and will likely not happen.
When asked why female squad members were included, Fergusson said that he was surprised at how many women were fans of the series and that he wanted to represent them as well. Bleszinski said he knew there were a lot of girl gamers out there and wanted them to taken seriously.
At E3, the voice actor for Jace Stratton was announced to be Drake, a Canadian artist and actor who has worked with such performers as Kanye West and Eminem. Claudia Black has also joined the cast and will be the voice of Samantha Byrne.
For more Gears lore, Traviss' Anvil Gate will be released in August and her next novel, Coalition's End, is scheduled for next March, a month before the game's release. The three books, Jacinto's Remnant, Anvil Gate, and Coalition's End, will recount what happened during the 18-month gap between Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3.
Part of the panel was dedicated to showcasing upcoming collectable action figures, detailed busts, and weapon replicas. However, the biggest news for the franchise was Microsoft and Epic Games' recent announcement that would allow fans to influence the fate of the next Carmine recruit.
While Bleszinski and Fergusson were keen on seeing Clayton Carmine die in the most sadistic and creative way possible, Traviss and the voice actors for Cole and Dominic were interested in seeing Carmine survive this time around. Gough was torn because on the one hand, he is the voice of the character and this is directly related to potential work. But on the other hand, he said he felt that there was a Gears tradition that needs to be followed. Fergusson joked that if the results were 50-50, Baird is going to have to go.
Fans can vote online or purchase Xbox 360 avatar T-shirts to show their support for Carmine's survival or his eventual demise. T-shirts are also available at Comic-Con, and all proceeds from this campaign will go to the video game-themed charity Child's Play.
Before starting the Q&A session, Bleszinski decided to talk about the state of the Gears of War Hollywood film so that fans wouldn't have to ask. He said that the script was completed last year and what they had wouldn't be able to happen until 2012. He also said that it would cost $120 million, and the studio would be worried.
"It doesn't have a love story of Will Smith's son in it," Bleszinski joked and said that they are going with Legendary Pictures and want to have something along the lines of District 9.
Quote: "Mama Carmine is like a clown car."--Bleszinski, in reference to the fact that the voice actor for Carmine shouldn't have much to worry about in the event that the next of kin does eat it.
The Takeaway: It sounds like there are a lot of Carmine supporters, judging from the audience reaction, as well as the fans online.
dude. carmine mus live. he should be a higher rank and have one of the other main characters die. and wtf is up with the queen who is gonna be her little b**** this time. raam and skorge died too easy. make the movie nowwww
I'd rather he lived, but if he died I want him to die in some form of self-sacrifice which saves the lives of the the other characters. Either way I hope his part is memorable.
The Carmines are awesome i want this one to live but if he dies he had better take a ton of Locust down with him
Part of me wants him to die in the most awesomest way possible, but I also want the poor bastard's life to be spared for once, I really like the Carmine brothers.
Anyone else think it would be epic if Clay Carmine wasn't a fresh recruit, but rather someone who is fairly up there in the ranks (above Marcus, perhaps? O.o) While, yes, it would likely end with him dying, at least it'd be with a wall of Locust corpses around him ;)
they should kill Carmine in every film, and in each film give him a funny story about how he escaped death but then go and kill him again and again
I thought Carmine should live too but I think it'll be more awsome to see how he dies.... otherwise he better live by the skin of his pants, or do into coma or paralyzation (hey he's still alive).
Carmine should live !!! The previous games let the other two brothers die and Clayton should live so that his brothers would not have died in vain. Besides show the Carmine's some respect...they're risking their lives for the greater COG and human good.
If they want to kill Carmine they should at least let him die heroic like saving the life of Marcus or some other character
Aren't there 4 Carmine brothers with 2 of them still alive? So 1 could live and 1 could die. I imagine that's what they'll end up doing
i would like it better if we were able to choose IN game. obviously it dosent affect story that much, so why not let us wait and choose in the actual game so everyone can be happy?
I'm really glad Gears of War 3 is -already- getting this much hype this long before the release date; the only bad thing is actually waiting for it to release! I'm anxiously awaiting some fresh news about the Gears movie, and I spent a bit of time today compiling some people I think should play the COG's in a Gamespot blog post today, so check it out and let me know all of your opinions! Gears of War 3 is going to be so sweet!
I want him to die. Even though both Carmines are my favorite charaters, I just think it would be cool, cuz it is Gears tradition. And I want to see how they make him die. Cliffy B said it would be with a bang.
Carmine should live, i'm tired of him dying in every game. It takes a piece out of me everytime he dies and I don't know if I can take it anymore.......:(
y let him die as if we didnt hav a choice.if cliffyb had a choice he would kill em.so y do sumtim dat wood happen if there wasnt a debate.save carmine,f*** all u baird lovers who ride carmines bak cuz u think baird could die.FYI 2 all u who think carmine is like d other 2 ur wrong
It would also be cool if, because he's da oldest, he was more like Ty or somthing. You know, an absolutely elite soldier. If they portray him like that then I wouldn't mind if he died. I just the Carmines 2 get some respect
I say Carmine should LIVE! He is exactly like Kenny but even Kenny got a break and I mean, come on, in both games he never got so far as 1/5 of the game b4 dying. Cut him some slack. Please.
@Stoneys_Rock I personly can't stand Baird he complains to much what kinda soldier do u that whines all the time at least Cole Train is funny and he's always ready to whoop some ass.
I think someone's said this before, but Carmine's like Kenny. But, since it's the final game, don't kill him, get him seriously injured, so that while you're dragging his near-dead hide around, you have to fight off swarms of Lambent and Locust with only your pistol. That's Achievement material.
Great to reward loyalty my ass! All those PC gamers who bought GoW1 were left high and dry. Loyalty my behind!
OR let carmine survive throughout the whole game until the near the end? That way we get the best of both worlds. And the voice actor gets paid. Solved. Now how to kill him....
Carmine is such a fruit why do people like him i just laugh at people who play as him although hes not as bad as Cole. He's the first person i go 2 kill online.
carmine live or die hhhhmmmm thats a hard 1 for me....................i just cant decide which 1 to pick
at ptrpedrohung Dom: omg, they killed Carmine Marcus: you bastards! seriously though, im voting to let him live.
@okassar, I personally think it would be awesome if Clayton Carmine is portrayed as a superhero who literally kicks the crap out of one of those invincible Berserkers in Gears of War 3. Believe it or not, this actually is possible in Gears of War 3 due to the fact that we will see characters in those mech suits for the first time. Those suits provide super strength to the soldiers. I personally think it would be awesome to see Clayton Carmine save the team from a bunch of locusts. Then, a Berserker would jump out of nowhere, apparently killing Clayton Carmine. The Berserker would then turn its attention towards the Delta Squad group as if there is going to be a boss fight. But instead of a boss fight, we see Clayton Carmine stand back up in a fit of rage! Carmine would use the mech suit to grab the Berserker in an Incredible Hulk sort of way and throw it a great distance -- possibly over a hill or a mountain (out of that particular level). This would make Clayton Carmine and his family look awesome!
Carmine is a character that I and just about everyone else absolutely love to play as in the Gears of War games. In the first Gears of War game it was disappointing to see Anthony Carmine die so quickly. Dying so quickly like that as a result of taking his helmet off and then getting headshot by a sniper made Carmine look like an idiot. But, it was still fun to play as him in the first Gears of War. In Gears of War 2 when we saw Carmine's brother, Ben, it truly was a funny moment when Ben Carmine made a reference to his brother dying as a hero and seeing the way Marcus Fenix and Dom sarcastically responded. When they said "Uhhhhh, yeah," it was inside humor all the way. Every fan of Gears of War who had seen that part of the first game realized what was going on and it was awesome. It was cool the way Ben Carmine lasted significantly longer in Gears of War 2. At least the Carmine family is headed in the right direction. In my opinion, the addition of Clayton Carmine in Gears of War 3 really should result in Carmine being portrayed as "the oldest brother" in the Carmine family. Clayton would be the guy Ben and Anthony looked up to. I want Clayton Carmine to be portrayed as a superhero! I'm definitely voting "Yes" and purchasing the Save Carmine shirt!
