I played the PS3 version of the game and it looks very good for a Ghostbusters game but I'm not saying I'm going to get a PS3 for that! I'm sticking on for the Wii version when it comes out on that date thats been announced already.
Sony exclusivity expires; Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PC versions hit shelves October 23.
Though PlayStation 3 gamers have been enjoying the delights of bustin' ghosts since June, European gamers without Sony's black box or a desire to import the game have had to wait it out. Originally, all formats of the game were scheduled for release together in June. However, an unexpected exclusivity deal for Sony in Europe saw only the PS3 version released, with the other versions promised for "later in the year."
Now, Namco Bandai's partner--formerly Atari--has given a definitive release date for other formats of the game in Europe. It will be coming to the Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PC on October 23. The game sees players capturing ghosts through the streets of Manhattan and features the original cast of the film reprising roles as Stantz, Venkman, Spengler, and Winston.
Though the game has finally made it to release, its future was originally in doubt after being dropped by Activision-Blizzard, following its merger with Vivendi games. Fortunately, Atari saw the spectral light and picked up the title. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's full review.
According to most reports, it seems to have done pretty well for Sony. I really enjoyed Ghostbusters, but this exclusivity thing is getting a bit much now. In the long run it's not really benefitting us gamers, and at the end of the day it's us that matter most.
Played the demo... seems like fun. I won't buy the game until it is on greatest hits though due to reports of how short it is.
its a great game, just fiddly in places and some long load times, ive completed the ps3 version and will be buying again in oct for achievements, 360 version is better graphically as well.
oh goodie finally 360 owners can play this game! oh wait it was region free, so surely if you really wanted to play this you would've imported it...
id agree actually... whats the point if its going multi-platform in october anywayz? im a playstation gamer myself and i know th futures looking bleak with the release of micosoft's virtual reality engine... maybe they're just trying to pull back the gamers.
And in the event of a 4 month wait I got completely bored of this game. Unless it comes with some particularly juicy extras that PS3 owners won't get I won't be getting this.
a ghostbusters game coming out in october? wow thats really gonna make me skip halo ODST, assassins creed 2 and modern warfare 2. TBH sony sould keep it exclusive the game sucks as it is
October...really?! October is a hugely crowded month and I think the 360,Wii,DS versionwill suffer greatly in this month. The reason Ghostbusters sold so well on the PS3 is because it was released in June...when nothing is released.
I have a NTSC copy on Xbox 360 and it plays multi region in the UK. So no waiting until October for me...
