Guild Wars 2 opening June 28 - Report
Leaked promotional retail material suggests ArenaNet's upcoming PC MMO game to debut at end of next month; dev calls date "pure speculation."
Guild Wars 2 could open its doors on June 28. That's according to promotional material for ArenaNet's upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game obtained by Kotaku.
The poster for Guild Wars 2 was reportedly seen at electronics retailer Fry's in Texas. Fry's isn't the only retailer that believes the long-awaited title will arrive in June. GameStop's product listing for Guild Wars 2 indicates the title will ship on June 26.
ArenaNet addressed the speculation today on Twitter, writing, "As always, we have not announced a launch date to anyone. Any launch date you see that isn't directly from us is pure speculation."
Though no firm release date has been announced for Guild Wars 2, in January, ArenaNet confirmed the title would launch in 2012. Additionally, gamers can prepurchase the title today, and doing so grants users early access when it finally does hit.
Guild Wars 2 puts players into a persistent fantasy world that is driven by a range of dynamic events. When the game launches later this year it will cost a fee up front but will not require a monthly paid subscription to continue playing.
