Nielsen study released yesterday reveals the top 12 games presented at the expo that are most likely to be purchased by gamers.
According to a June 8 report by research group Nielsen, New Super Mario Bros. Wii garnered the most online "buzz" at this month's Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, a report released this week indicates that such ephemeral attention might not translate into hard sales.
The survey asked gamers which games presented at E3 they were definitely or probably interested in purchasing. Some 53 percent of respondents were likely to purchase Halo 3: ODST, with 49 percent for God of War III. On the other end of the list, The Beatles: Rock Band ranked last at 12th with 30 percent.
One interesting factoid by Nielsen is that there were no massive changes in interest in the 12 titles from pre-E3 to post-E3. As the research group puts it, "In other words, games that already tugged at gamers’ hearts held on."
The results of Nielsen's June 7 to 14 survey are listed below, along with a video of GameSpot's Halo 3: ODST demo.

1) Halo 3:ODST - September 22, 2009 - 53%

Its the same as the fact that WoW is still first in the PC top 10 list.. i mean, get real, it shouldn't even be IN that list anymore...
wtf? How can a stupid game like guitar hero stand ABOVE FFXIII?? :o And NFS? Come on... since the comming of Most Wanted it went straight downhill, a very steep hill...
those ppl seemed to have missed some of the best looking games like uncharted 2, splinter cell:convictions or alan wake just to name a few.
Splinter cell and unencharted 2 should have been up there. The thing is that most people will buy games that has great titles and will not care to check about how good the actually is.
i really can't wait for GOD of WAR III and ASSASSIN'S CREED II i really liked kratos when the first god of war game and the same as altaire in assassin's creed, i can't wait to see ezio in assassin's creed II
Halo Orbital Shock Cock Trooper will disapoint so many people, it'll be in Sonic the hedgehog's direction soon, worthless and unappealing. Can't wait for God Of War 3, Uncharted 2 and MAG to come out.
How the hell do all of these Guitar Hero and Rock Band games make it on the list but Modern Warfare 2 doesn't?
this effectively means nothing... nice, lol... if they follow up and show how many people buy the games in the first week/month of release... it'll be amusing to see how sales have bearly any link to someones guess work of how many were interested in what. as for Sequels... theres hardly ever gonna be any new games coming out since publishers only care about the money... and if they release a sequel, it'll make at least a small portion of the previous title... although I'd like to suggest Final Fantasy is pretty much just milking the name to make extra sales, while the game will not have much to do with previous titles... With most of the people who created final fantasy gone, it seems wrong that they keep calling games by the same name... luckily I hope it'll be a good game... the demo was nice.
@korko3 Stoked Sir. And having very high hopes. But ladies and gents, at this point none of us need not complain. Most, if not all of us, have been exposed to the skewed methods of game advertising and have the common sense to see through the constant rubbish. I'd be greatly interested in seeing just exactly where these "results" were calculated from.
look at Halo ODST is that the best Xbox 360 can do for 2009 compared to Killzone 2 the graphics are gay
Nobody wants f**king Halo ODST, especially not 53% of us. MW2 should be on top, Scribblenauts, MAG, borderlands, Forza, and should be here Marvel Ult. 2 should be at least honorable mention. They f**ked up badly with this list...
WTF where's modern warfare 2? And out od those I'm only interested in Final Fantasy and Assassin's Creed. If I had a PS3 I'd buy God of War too.
I have no idea whatsoever what the demographic for this way. ..Wii Sports Resort? Seriously? I guess the average voter was 10. ...Oh wait, the top 2 titles are M-rated. I guess they're 20. ...Van Halen? I guess they're 35 or so. ...Beatles RockBand? Guess they're... 50+? ...Or 20ish and were turned on by their parents? Ok so let's review. The average person in this survey is a 50-year-old who listens to power ballads, loves both fantasy and gun-based action games and live vicariously through their 6-year-old child. ...And that still doesn't explain how NFS games came in over GT5 and Forza3, and that FF13 seems to have flown under the radar despite being the cornerpiece of MS and Sony presentations. I wouldn't take this remotely seriously and we can only pray that the developers don't think this is a real representation of what's going on.
Wow, a lot of 13 year olds still taking these polls apparently. I can't wait when you all grow up to realize Halo is over-rated mediocrity. ODST is going to disappoint you big time. Enjoy your full priced expansion pack, suckers. Reach on the other hand.....hmmmm that will be interesting (new engine....probably in response to KZ2)
While I don't doubt the fact that God of War III and Halo 3 ODST might be some of the more popular games presented at E3. But seriously no MW2?No Mass Effect 2?No Uncharted 2? Was this supposed to be an April Fools joke gone way too late?
@MATERAZZI_23 Agreed, how is mw2 not on this list...these jokers don't know what there doing... I'm not buying odst... I'm not shelling $60 for something that should be dlc and just for the reach beta...halo was good halo 2 multiplayer was the only good thig about halo 2...halo 3 caught my interest for a day...halo reach(4)?! I can't see this game being so good that it could break the sleep they put me in with 3...that's not to say I don't hope it does cause I do.
No Uncharted 2 in that list? And Final Fantasy XIII in 5th position? Are they crazy? I don't buy that.
By the looks of it there are no surprises you have you high production Action - FPS games and your sports - rythm games. The fun and unique games that are really deserving are never no were to be found on these types of "lists". And it's always a shame.
halo blowsssss ^_^ wooohoooo! too easy and lame for my tastes..but then again thats why i dont own an xbox... *whispers* its for the educationally challenged
Modern Warfare 2 will be the game with most sales in 09, but it's not on the list??? Epic fail survey!!!
Nintendo's demographic has changed though. Most of their customers probably don't even know about E3. They probably won't know these new games exist until they're released, then they'll stay in the top ten sales chart forever just like Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, New Super Mario Brothers and Wii Play.
i dnt kno y alot is interisted in halo!!! i mean they r using an old engine thats so stupid...anyway its just a list, they expected halo wars to be great and it sucked so we will see
