PlayStation Store Update: New slate of digital wares led by Konami's Contra-style shooter, sampler for WBIE's sanguineous fighter; Prince of Persia, Slam Bolt Scrappers also hit PS3 storefront.
First out of the gate for the PlayStation 3 is Hard Corps: Uprising ($15). Developed by Arc System Works, the 2D side-scrolling shooter sees players assuming the role of the soldier Bahamut as part of a prequel story to Contra: Hard Corps.
Sony added two other full-game PS3 titles to its download hub, the first of which is Slam Bolt Scrappers ($15). The game has players creating weapons and using them to bring down their opponents in Slam Bolt City. In addition to a four-player co-op campaign mode, Slam Bolt Scrappers features a head-to-head mode.
The other new addition to the PS3's online storefront is Ubisoft's Prince of Persia ($20). Released in 2008, the title puts players in control of a nameless prince adventurer, who has witnessed the death of the Tree of Life. To restore light to the world, the prince partners with Elika, a deadly ally.
Gamers looking to try before they buy this week can grab a handful of new demos. These samplers include a multiplayer experience for Crytek's upcoming shooter Crysis 2, trials for Plants vs. Zombies, PlayStation Move Heroes, and Slam Bolt Scrappers.
Also out now is a sampler for Warner Bros.' bloody fighter reboot Mortal Kombat, which is due for full release on April 19. The demo lets gamers get a first look and feel for the game by offering up Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, and Johnny Cage as playable characters.
Those looking to the past for their fun can grab one new PSOne Classic from the download space this week, Parasite Eve ($6). The game has players controlling NYPD officer Aya Brea, a rookie who hunts down a biological presence known as Eve, before it can destroy humanity.
Switching to the PSP download hub, Sony added four new games to the space today, the first of which is Major League Baseball 2K11 ($20). 2K Sports' annual baseball simulator for Sony's portable sports Franchise and Season modes, as well as Home Run Derby, the Farm, and Manager Showdown avenues.
Also out now for PSP is Gods Eater Burst ($40). The game is the second installment in Namco Bandai's multiplayer action series for Sony's portable, and it debuted in October in Japan to sales of 263,150. The original God Eater was never released in North America.
The last two PSP titles out this week are the dungeon traversing Jikandia: The Timeless Land ($25) and the racing game Vertigo ($10).
Music game fans looking to add to their virtual song libraries can grab new tunes for Rock Band 3 and DJ Hero 2. Harmonix's music game adds four new songs from The Police, OK Go, and War. Activision's disc jockey game welcomes the Indie Hip Hop Mix Pack, which includes remixed tunes from Atmosphere, RJD2, Jaylib, and others.
A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.
Im loving the mortal kombat demo. It proper feels like the old games but the new stuff fits in beautifully. I am really looking forward to the full game. If some of you haven't tried it yet, you must. It is cringingly gory, yet it is unrealistically gory, so it never feels like it is being controversial. The aussie ratings board really dropped the ball on this one.
@demonkingx5 Well I never encountered any frame rate issues when I played but I did have a hard time getting into games I'm sure I mentioned this in my first Comment. As far as graphics go the PS3 version looks just fine the 360 version may look better but PS3 version is just fine and there aren't a whole bunch of techincal issues. The problem with not easily being able to get into a multiplayer game is bad but it really doesn't matter much to me as I am not getting this game for the multiplayer I wanna play the campaign as for which console I am getting it for I haven't decided yet but as of right now there both on a pretty level playing field.
@Marky360 the ps3 version of crysis 2 does have some frame rate issues i in countered them & it also doesn't look as good as the 360 version i know that cause i played both demos on both consoles. i will also note that its slow to get into a game sometimes getting randomly kicked off the game, theses issue only happen on the ps3 version of crysis 2. i say this cause i personally in countered these issues. by the way look further into my playlist of vids you'll see my 360 vid & wii game vid as well. im not a fanboy i type 100% what i in countered in the game .
@demonkingx5 I'm sorry dude I went to your page on youtube but I didn't see the vid just alot of COD Black OPS vids and a few Halo Reach vids.
@demonkingx5 Dude I have no idea what your talking about I didn't say anything dissing you or the 360 and I'm certainly no fanboy as I own all three consoles as well and think this console war crap is retarded. All I did is say the PS3 version of Crysis 2 looks fine there are no muddy textures and frame rate issues and certainly no controller lag now I'm sure the 360 version looks good to but it was IGN that reported the PS3 version had lackluster visuals and frame rate issues I was just stating that was not the case but then you went on the offensive saying the 360 version looked better and the PS3 version looked horrible. Maybe your the fanboy here you may own all three consoles but you definitely have a preference of the 360.
@Marky360 ok you haven't played the 360 version there's your fault there. i said my 360 runs in lower resolution than my ps3 & my 360 version looks better than my ps3 version of crysis 2 if you didn't play both demos on both console don't come here & disagree with me. your opinion is 1 sided play both before you type. you ps3 fanboys are almost worst than the 360 fanboys its that easy to counter your weak comment son . by the way check my youtube channel its proof i own all 3 console my opinions are unbiased here's a link fanboy http://www.youtube.com/user/gouki4563?feature=mhum
@warhawk-geeby yeah man....I see that now...hehe, apologies. I am a bit of a nerd anyways...lol!! I guess all gamers are to a certain degree. Cheers
@hig1134 Dude I was on your side! :p Haha. Talk about friendly fire.. It wasn't directed at you pal I was directing it at the other bloke not knowing the difference. You're facts are spot on my friend don't worry. I meant I feel like a nerd laughing at the 1080i/p saga.. Ah well.. It always is hard to show emotion through text.
I take back what I said earlier people....apparently, Crysis 2 is a technical mess...not impressed with the developers at Crytek....oh well....Killzone 3 rules anyway!!
@warhawk-geeby How does knowing the difference between 1080i and 1080p make me a nerd? Everyone and there mother knows the difference, except for demonkingx5...and exactly what facts in my statement are "wrong"? I find it funny, too, that people who talk crap on here annoy the hell out of you, yet you read it, and you're doing it yourself...maybe you should sod off.
You know you're a nerd when you laugh at 1080i being proclaimed as better than 1080p.. *Nerd laugh* People that talk crap on here annoy the hell outa me. If it 's not related to the article sod off already.. Or get your facts right at least.
@demonkingx5 Typical 360 fanboy!! Imagine saying 1080i is better than 1080p! Must live under a rock or something. Anyways, this game is not getting a crappy port job like some multi-plats. It's being developed from the ground up for PS3, so don't listen to this fool people....wait till the game is released to make claims like that. Some people....lol
@demonkingx5 First off dude 1080p is better then 1080i just thought you should know . And yes the PS3 version of Crysis 2 looks just fine I've played the demo there is no muddy textures or slow framerates so I have absolutely no idea what your talking about. As for the 360 version I can not speak on how it looks as I am unable to play the demo for the Xbox 360 because a gold Membership is required to play online(even if it's just a demo) so the Crysis 2 demo is useless for me on the 360. The PS3 version of Crysis 2 is just fine so don't be fooled.
@ lilboicookie Did you allow the system to have a nice area to stay cool? Did you play it over carpet? Not supposed to. Use the switch in the back of the system without letting it shut down properly? Finally, it could simply be your wall outlet too.
Mortal Kombat is just what I hoped it would be, freaking killer demo. Cant wait to kick all your asses with Cage;)
@CorruptGamerGX Thanks for the heads-up on Resident Evil 3; I had leftover funds in my Wallet that I didn't know what to do with.
@pszone no if i get crysis 2 it will be on 360 the ps3 version has problem that don't happen on the 360 or pc , get it on pc or 360. ps3 gets dumped on when it comes to multiplates
well crysis 2 run better on ps3 and could end up buying it because gd storyline and i know be better than homefront but ganna wait for homefront when its cheaper
@Kenshiro_Kenoh cause i got video proof im no 360 fanboy who comes to spread lies im 100% son if you got a 360 you'll know that don't come here & disagree with me when you haven't played both demos on both console you ps3 fanboys are so butt hurt its sad. watch copy & paste the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xheV6FEJSRg
@Kenshiro_Kenoh Oh...Well I feel like an idiot now. Lol. Thanks for telling me that! Can't wait to play the demo!
@Marky360 don't come here & say crysis 2 on ps3 don't have muddy vision cause is does on my 360 it looks way better & my 360 runs on 1080i while ps3 runs on 1080p ing is right i cant even get in to a game on the ps3 version of crysis 2 on the 360 i can im being 100%
I cant seem to be able to buy Hard Corps Uprising off PSN, i get an error code every time, sure hope they fix this.
I've played the Mortal Kombat demo and it's awesome but gamespot got it wrong this demo was released last week u just had to be Playstation Plus to nab it(sadly I am not) I also played the Crysis 2 demo and it looked amazing and played smoothly nothing like how IGN reported. they said the PS3 version had muddy visuals bad frame rates and a lot of controller lag but I'm to say they were wrong it plays perfectly fine and looked great but it is a pain trying to get into matchups though.
I downloaded crysis 2 yesterday and have been unable to play a single round since. I have deleted and won't be buying it. Mortal Kombat is not bad.
Just played the MK demo. Holy crap. I knew it looked fun but damn, it's insane! Day 1 purchase for me.
I WANT HARD CORPS: UPRISING!! Contra is one of those series where you can do nothing but throw your controller in anger at how difficult the games are. I doubt this'll be any exception. Hell yeah!
Yeah I guess I will play the MAME Versions until X360 ver comes out anyways that demo is for the playstation plus members.... They Pay Too.. its Not Free...
@lilboicookie You fixed a PS3?, I assume you didn't pay Sony to do it did you?; if you did you might aswell of just got a new PS3. Seems you've just been very unlucky, I've had 3 PS3s, the 5 year old one got YLOD early this year, the other 2 are fine and are both 3-5 years old. I've also had 4 360s, 2 of which went within 6months of purchase. The other 2 which are 2 years old seem fine. I've had one Wii I got since launch and it's still working like a charm. As for my PC, it's had a few issues but nothing technical. It's 3 years old.
@NND1 In all fairness, 360 users do get alot of early DLC access (CoD,GTA) and early demos (Bad Company 2, Crysis 2). It's pretty fair if you think about it.
still waiting for " get tannen" from back to the future, and it has been exactly, 1 month since eps 1 release, this is not cool
@Burning_Typhoon i got my PS3 fixed max it worked was 6 month i barely even play it now cause of school..i play my 360 alot more than i do than the PS3 and according to the $ony fangirls the 360 gets the RROD faster >.> not what im seeing anyways i might get it fixed for the last time but no more :) just for killzone
Anyone ever notice how GS uses the same words over and over? "slams" and "hits" are the two big ones. Every time new content is added to something it "slams" or "hits".
@ lilboicookie If it happens twice, after paying to get it "fixed," or refurbished, then maybe you're the cause of the issue.
saw mortal kombat demo... in the title on the home page & thought they were bringing it 2 the xbox before release
ok Gods eater burst isnt the second game in the seriese its the first game with the dlc added to it. get facts straight please....
