Ea has ruined all games based on movies.(infact all the greedy publisher) If they worked hard they can make good games but .............they are sucker
WBIE, EA bifurcating "darker" installment in J.K. Rowling-created franchise; first release due this year on 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PC, mobile.
For the final filmic installment in J.K. Rowling's young-adult opus, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Warner Bros. Pictures opted to break the movie into two parts, with the first release scheduled for this November. Warner Bros.' gaming division will be taking the same tack for the movie's interactive tie-in.
Today, Warner Bros. Interactive and Electronic Arts announced Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 will arrive this fall for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PC, and mobile devices. Though the publishers did not provide a release window for Part 2, they did confirm that it will arrive on the same platforms upon its bow, presumably in tandem with the second film's release next year.
EA's Bright Light studio has been tasked with development on the game, and according to production head Jonathan Bunney, Deathly Hallows will be "darker and more action oriented" than previous installments in the series. Notably, the protective walls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have been left behind, as Potter and his cohorts face off against Voldemort's nefarious hordes in the lead-up to the young magician's final face-off with the rogue magician.
The studio emphasized the perilous situation that Potter finds himself in on his quest to find and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes, and players will battle the likes of Death Eaters and snatchers. Also on hand will be various other creatures from previous installments in the series that Potter must use his magic to vanquish.
the HP universe... once you think about it has amazing potential but they never take advantage of it which is sad.
I've allways wanted to see a new good harry potter game but never saw better than the second one for ps2 .
dude I saw the video and the wand of harry potter fires as fast as a laser. And better it's sounds a exactly like a laser. search for the trailer online, you'll see :)
I was a Harry Potter fan up until the 6th book and thats when I relized it went from being a great book series to hundreds of pages of unless information that has no point of being in the story other then to make it longer and that is when I stopped reading them. I admit I loved the first two games and played them numerous times but when it got to the third book it just became trash. Same recycled crap from then on out just a different story. I have no plans on buying this trash and I look down on those who do.
rather than bring one out for each movie for moneymaking purposes they should have waited until all 6 were out and made a huge rpg, should've based it on the books and not the movies as well :)
I would've liked to see Part 1 and Part 2 scrunched together for the game, but that would result in less money. Anyway, still waiting on an improvement to the first Harry Potter game on PC.
"I've always wondered after all these years why Harry never bought a more stylish pair of glasses." Or why glasses were necessary at all with magic.
HP has such a huge potential To make a great game and this one so far sounds better then past game but I think the Lego harrypotter will probally be a lot better from what I've read but I won't give up on this one yet @ Game__Raider great idea not sure about it being an mmo but it could work nicely one thing is it doesn't have to be set during the harrypotter story it could have a nice KOTOR style era set before it when his parents went to hogwarts or my choice would be after having you join while his kids are there this would allow for a whole new story
@mylesblastonato Dude look down like 20-25 comments or so for my last comment, you're idea is the EXACT SAME as mine haha. Did you steal it....jk! But seriously maybe you and me should create our own game company and make something truly special. Here I'll even repost my idea for those who ignored it. Its the EXACT same haha! I am a huge fan of the books. Whether people like to here it or not HP has huge potential to be a great game. If only someone like Rocksteady would make a game like they did with AA but in the HP universe then we could be impressed. The universe has great potential but a lame movie knock off to make a money will never be something special. I still stick with my idea, that a MMO for the 360/PS3 would be great. Create your own student and complete a series of tasks/questions and be sorted into your house with each house providing certain boosts to you abilities and stats. Try out for your house quidditch team and each month new people can make the team etc. The Forbidden Forest can be for PvP and Raids and stuff like that. Classes like Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms will raise certain stats such as DADA will raise attack, defense, and stamine. I mean Hogwarts is a HUGE MAGICAL place. Make it something we want to explore. With the endless dungeon possibilites it could be a huge world. And we know from the books that there are other wizarding schools and areas out there. You could explore those areas later once you level up. ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!
@mylesblasonato I would be interested in playing an RPG, but not when they're (most likely) on the movie's deadline. It would be waaaaaay too rushed.
The only good HP games was the Chamber of Secrets on PS2 and The Sorcerer's Stone on PS1. All the other ones sucked IMO.
this is their chance to make a good harry potter game, because they're not short of money and they're not pressed to release it before the next one comes out, because there isn't another one. but, they won't. they'll rush it, release it early, it'll have crap looking graphics because they're worried that people will forget about it if they release it a few months late which they wouldn't have done anyway, and the harry potter series will end forever on yet another crap game.
Actually, being a game designer myself, I thought why haven't the designers decided to do a RPG based in the Harry Potter Universe. I would love to create my own Wizard who has his own storyline which is layered over the top of Harry's storyline with Voldamort. The bigger Harry Potter storyline could be occuring in the background providing great unexplored story elements for the players character. You get sorted into a house. You go to class to learn new abilites and level up and take on side quests for students and teachers within Hogwarts to gain money to purchase better equipment in Diagon Alley. You could also, if you choose, join the Quidich Team and actually have the gameplay change to better fit the experience. I think there is a lot to do. Stealth missions using the cloak or Diguise potion or maybe you can buy that stuff before hand and choose to take on missions stealthy or with force using spells. It's got great potential to be an awesome game if dev take it more serious. I guess having a tight schedule is wha'ts preventing a great game. Maybe after the movies we can finally see an awesome game. Cheers, Myles Blasonato.
When are movie companies going to realize that they games they make for the movies, suck. I've read the books, I'm going to see the movie, why the hell would I want to play a game I already know the ending to?! Why can't they do what BIOWARE has done and make a game like KOTOR. I want to make my own wizard and learn my own spells, not play Harry Potter fight the same old fight I know all about.
The last few Harry Potter games were terrible, the only excuse most fans have for giving them 10's and 9's is because it was open-ended and you could interact with characters from the movies and books. I grew up with the first 4 Harry Potter games, i hope that they could end the series atleast on a slightly higher note. *sighs* Still miss the platforming days of Harry Potter games. Atleast you could see they actually tried to be creative with it.
HP 1, 2 n 3 is quite gud...other than tat = rubbish...even the movie (4,5,6) was an upset to a people who actually read the whole novel...etc = me XD
i reckon if naughtydog (uncharted series) took this on, it might actually be fantastic. The books have huge potential for wicked games, pity NO ONE has made a decent instalment since chamber of secrets. Anyone agree?
The graphics look pretty shocking. In my experience so far all Harry Potter games (except no.3 that was OK) are rubbish
The only Harry potter games i have are the chamber of secrets for PSone and Prisoner of Azkaban for PS2. HP2 was ok, but HP3 was actually a really fun game, with a good amount of challenge. I could possibly buy this one but i've heard the quality has dropped quite a bit.
@Adam_the_Nerd Yeah man! I remember that game! There was one on the GBA too, or you might be thinking of the GBA one. It was actually pretty good, why these games didn't go the very logical direction of ARPG is beyond me. Gears ---> Harry Potter? Try Resonance of Fate ---> Harry Potter, or even Kingdom Hearts/Mass Effect -----> Harry Potter!
@Cheif_Kuuni:I recommend you check out COS, it was based more off the book then the movie and was actually a really great game. Whatever you do dont get GOblet of fire or Order of the phoenix, theyre bad to the point that they felt broken.
idk hope its good, chamber of secrets was one of my favorite games last gen, OOTP sucked but HBP was a pretty good game when you got down to its core.
Ugh, Harry Potter games. The first two were actually pretty good. There was a little known RPG on the Gameboy Color that was excellent. Otherwise, I'll pass.
The last game could have been better and the first two were really fun hope they get this game right
While I agree with everyone saying that the Harry Potter universe has some great possibilities, the fact is... they are going to make the dodgy movie tie ins as the movies are released to get as much return on (little) investment. When they're done and dusted there may be the chance for someone to get a hold of the IP and make it something worth playing
Eh. The 7th book wasn't that great compared to the earlier ones, and did not have nearly enough content to justify splitting into two parts for the movie. Less happened in that book than did in the first one. The rest of it was just filler.
Kanye West recently had his comment on the screenshot... Kanye West: "Now, Space Invaders, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you finish but HARRY POTTER HAD THE WORST GRAPHICS OF ALL TIME!"
i hope they fix the texture and screen rate issues before the games released or it will just flat out suck because the sucky graphics will bring down the interesting game concept
I am a huge fan of the books. The books have been amazing while the games and movies have been sub-par at best which to a huge Potter fan like me is disappointing. Whether people like to here it or not HP has huge potential to be a great game. If only someone like Eidos and Rocksteady would make a game like they did with AA but in the HP universe then we could be truly impressed. The universe has great potential but a lame movie knock off to make a quick buck will never be something special.
Harry Potter games have a lot of a potential but they always suck. I think they should release the game for Part 2 and have both Parts in the game. That way they can have a complete game and a bit more time to work on it, and if it's good it will make more money than both half games combined.
