I Am Alive rated, detailed by ESRB
Ubisoft's survival game given M classification from US ratings group; third-person action title to include melee combat and finishing moves.
In late June, the Australian government's Office of Film and Literature Classification Board rated Ubisoft's survival game I Am Alive, indicating the project had not been abandoned. Now, the United States' Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has also classified the game, revealing new gameplay details as well.
The ESRB's new listing for I Am Alive sheds further light on the project, describing the title as a third-person action game that casts players as a man searching for his family in a postapocalyptic world. The ESRB assigned an M-for-Mature rating to I Am Alive for "Blood, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language."
In addition, the ESRB's listing for the Chicago-set I Am Alive indicates the title will feature melee combat and "finishing moves." Some of these grisly maneuvers--quick-time events during which the camera zooms in--include throat-slashing, impaling, and pistol-whipping, according to the listing.
I Am Alive was first spoken of at the 2008 Electronic Entertainment Expo, at which time the game was scheduled to be released in 2009. The last official word concerning I Am Alive came in 2009, when Ubisoft announced that development duties on the game had shifted from Paris-based Darkworks to Ubisoft Shanghai.

i remember seeing the games cover on a store shelf in 2009. i was putting money aside for it, funnily enough.
the sequel will of course be: I am Dead.
Wow, I can't believe this game was first announced more than 3 years ago.
THere are too many good games coming out and my pockets are EMPTY and i have no TIME.
Glad to see this game is still kicking, I've been watching this for a while.
Woo! the game is back! I was worried they were really going to cancel it!
Im so exicted for it!! :) now must save money for this too. as long as it is after metro last light and grand theft auto v comes out
Yay for I Am Legend -.- Just go back to WW style POP games please
I hope It on par with Assassin's Creed ;)
They're totally using that smoke scene from 9-11 where the smoke cloud comes pouring down the streets that you always saw on the news. Trailer looks interesting but it could be another "Dead Island" type of trailer. Showing something that is nothing like the game.
Been there, done that...

Interesting title for a "survival game" in an era where some games genres are having difficulties to survive...
totally adventure game in this gen of gaming? i hope so because in this gen 99% games are FPS because that tag is necessary now a days to sell game ... but gamers like me who play all types of games really need this type of game
Oh, it's still in the works?... for a moment there I thought they should've changed the title to I AM DEAD. Will follow this. maybe.
will this game be publish in this century.
I'm getting a little sick and tired of these absolutely obscene ratings for every game. If you go look at ratings for series of M games in the 90s, all you see is blood and gore for every game. Take Splinter Cell. The first three games were blood and gore only--Then suddenly once you get into the newer games strong sexual themes jumps into the mix. Do devs really feel like they need to shove sexual themes into a game JUST because it's M? Or what about strong language? Is that necessary too? I find it all very pointless.
Man, I was hoping for a survival game, not another combat game. Bring back the original team on this project! lol
the teaser looked interesting, but that was years ago.
few years back i was interested in this title and was sad about every delay thinking the project would die.Now they decided to add QTE's and arcade fighting and finishing moves??? IMO the game lost its originality and became a mainstream game i have no interest anymore.
Was a little excited until they mentioned QTE's........ Those are the reason I've rented every God of War game and not bought them.
The camera zooms in on finishing moves. Kinda like MANHUNT. I hope so.
it's been the same trailer for over a year now... its good to hear SOMETHING.
Is it just me or does anybody else want to see what these guys and Bethesda could do if they put their heads together and make a post-apocalyptic game? Sorry I'm just a sucker for this style of games :P
i cant wait to hear more about this game! they dont answer a thing except they're trying to survive in the city. i want another trailer or interview please!
As pleasing as this is, I remain saddened at the demise of this game's counterpart (Irem's Zettai Zetsumei Toshi series, AKA Disaster Report/Raw Danger) as a result of what I believe to be a mix of cowardice and misplaced 'sensitivity'.
Hell yeah I hope your alive...this game looks awesome!
I guess it is still alive then, I hope it does come out soon.
When did this trailer appear first? I remember seeing it few years ago,and I found it interesting.Only I thought this game got canceled in the meantime.Glad I was wrong.
Very good, I'm glad this game didn't die out just yet, I've been waiting for this! I want the PC version, I hope they don't delay it like Batman.
WATER
i am legend
Its an interesting idea, the attempts at disaster games have been pretty so-so. Hope it all pans out into a great game.
This is a title that i am so looking forward to.
I guess that achievement for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was hinting at this game.
Good news! I was starting to think this wasn't going to happen.
The animation looked a bit off, but this looks like it has an interesting enough plot otherwise.
Name sounds like a crossover between I am Legend and Alive which is disturbing :P, would love to see some gameplay videos...
Maybe they thought this would catch on better now considering the whole 2012 apocalypse thing.
Well go figure, no surprise there.
It alive. :P
I could see this game going the Dead Island route, its seemed like its been dead for a while, and then comes back out of nowhere, though not sure how sucessful it will be. I am gonna keep an eye out though.
I really liked the trailer.
Wow forgot this game existed
I'm so happy! I thought this game was dead; can't wait for more info!!
ive been waiting for this game for awhile, i hope it comes out soon.
I don't get it... the game must be nearing completion for it to be rated, and all we've seen is a three year old trailer :/
Fingers crossed!
I'm still not convinced that the game will make it onto shelves. Maybe next year, that's what I have been saying for the past two years. *laughing ironically*
i wont get my hopes up.. but if this game is a true survival game where the fear comes from the crazed people, and you arent some super ninja fighting skilled dude, i think this game could go places.
