Activision confirms original developer will return to series next year, talks about monetizing online play with "Day One Advantage" experience acceleration.
Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War hasn't even stormed the beaches yet, but Activision is already talking about the next full installment in the series. In a half-day analysts' presentation yesterday, Activision Publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith confirmed that franchise creator Infinity Ward would be returning to develop the next Call of Duty game, which he referred to as Call of Duty 6 and pegged as a 2009 release.
As for World at War, Griffith talked about Activision's efforts to monetize the franchise's online play. Specifically, he said that the Treyarch game would have three times the downloadable content as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and mentioned "Day One Advantage" premium content. Later in the presentation, the Day One Advantage was explained as "the ability to accelerate your experience points when you play online."
Griffith said that the publisher was looking hard at additional ways of expanding the game's business model, and noted there was "tremendous opportunity" to bring the series to new "theaters, game designs, and plotlines" in the future.

Why didn't Activision call it Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2? Or better yet, why not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 since MW2 is a direct sequel to the previous MW game.
i think that as a reward for gaining levels they should give you pieces of outfits that you can costumise your character with, like say you get to level 55 then you get a guille suit, or you get to level 10 and you get a cool new helmet, just stuff like that to were once you get to the highest level you'll have all the outfits unlocked and able to costumise your character with, and also maybe some different camo. and for 5 kill streak they should defidently do just one laser guided bomb thats big as hell that can level buildings. and i do think they should have tanks but have weapons like the javeline that take tanks out with one shot, that would make it fare

finally call of duty 6!!!! I loved 4 and 5 was just as good( ww2 had a good proper army fighting against another proper army not random terrorists)(also ww2 was the biggest deadlies conflict in human history so until ww3 we will have to put up with cool ww2 games) so i hope call of duty 6 will be just as great. 1 more thing you know how everyone thought call of duty 5 was a mod for call of duty 4 so what does that mak modern warfare 2 i mean you cant get much more diffrent than a completly diffrent war ara and part of the world so how is it 2 much the same? they should do the character customization.... for fun and NO TANKS they are the gayest thing ever invented..... for games that is. i love call of duty lolololololol rofl
I agree with a lot of your ideas like taking out juggernaut and customizable characters and so on but no one talks about a game mode,a game mode i think would be good for Modern Warfare 2 is a War type of game mode like in WaW but there would be an attacking team and a defending team and the attacking team would have to capture flags or checkpoints of some kind in a set order and the defending team has to not them be captured.The attacking team would have just one tank that never respawns after it is destroyed and the defending team would have to have some kind of anti tank weapon for there classes to destroy the tank.The game mode would have two rounds so that each side would have a chance to attack and defend,and the whole point would be that the attackers have to try and capture the flags in a set order in a time limit and what ever they capture they have to defend next round and then the other team would try to capture more flags or the same amount in less time.
I agree with most of you guys. Summed up... Silenced snipers, Possibly customizable characters(just for fun not really important) and def modern warefare 2. and put the .50 Cal in split NOT ONLY OLDSCHOOL. And 2 players online. HOW SICK WOULD THAT BE? you have a friend over and wanna play online and all they do is nag? BOTH CAN PLAY NOW. no more taking turns with the other person who sucks :p

I think cod4 is a lot better than cod5, the guns the customizable options, the story, everything. So im glad they are making a new modern warfare game, but its gonna have to be extremely good to beat cod4
well world at war was really gay and booring no guns, no camo, still jugernaut,F*** the tanks and a bunch of bull Sh** in the game the only thing i liked was nazi zombi but it got gay 2. so hopefully CoD 6 has more guns, camo,perks,online achivements and will be the best CoD game they have ever made!!

I want a silent Sniper that if your really good would be a ghost. I mean in Cod4 you had a silent sniper but if they did that for multi, u know what I mean.
I aggree totally that there should be an ability to allow an optics related upgrade and a flash hider/suppressor also installed... the items install on different parts of the gun you've unlocked both kinds of items why not be able to install both if you want?!!!
I agree with you all about having more weapons but i hope they add more customizable features for the guns also. For example putting the red dot and silencer on the m16 instead of having just 1 option
gotta have a m134 minigun that would kick so much ass and have gun colors so u would have to work towards headshots and have priesge slots
Yea I was more of a fan of the Modern Warfare myself too, I will say Call of Duty World at War was a great game, don't like the tanks myself really, that would be pretty sweet if they brought more guns in the new one though.
I hope COD ^6 will have the same gore like 5 and the graphics like 4 and i want more cool guns!!!

and who cares about what number it is? it is the 6th game it dosnt matter how good cod waw is (though it waz awesome! =]) and cod waw is a full game it has a story mode co op split screen multiplayer and even nazi zombies which is a bonus mode its a fully developed game and its totally awesome cod 1 wasnt called cod one it was called Call of Duty so does that mean that Cod 2 is actually CoD 1????? suck that XD =P
more guns like some weapons like the ak and m4 but like the newly developed mp7 and the 5 kill streak should be like a laser guided missle
co op is huge its a must and online changes is also nice like a 4th perk for prestiging and tanks are just gay to much health like a jeep or a motorcycle would be cool and second chance should be kept juggernaut should be eliminated a perk where u can have to attachments would be cool and a silencer for snipers and i think the 7 kill streak acheivement should be changed like maybe AI soldiers kinda like dogs but all with a weapon like the americans have m16 and the russians have AK 47s and what not if it has co op and online ill by it ill probly buy it even if it dosnt have co op but and some web sites have already marked the release as december 31 2009 so keep an eye out for that
Its funny they call it a nube tube but i didnt start using it till i got 10th prestige and finished everything else cuz its just fun to kill people with it. But they should definatley keep it. But i kinda agree with getting rid of juggernaut. And it would be cool if you could make your own camo for guns like how you can make your own camo in vegas.
i agree with a lot of you and disagree with some.... 1. co-op is a must! 2. tanks are a pain in the ass... they have too much health to them and they are not limited to anything other than their health... they should have limited shells or limited fuel... just transportation vehicles with attached guns are cool... it would be bad ass if you could control your guns in your own helicopter (though not likely and probably get more kills with AI guns) 3. online multiplayer achievements would be awesome... AND THEY HAVE TO HAVE VALUE! 0 point achievements are stupid... good idea for a prestige achievement though.... 4. speaking of prestige... they should add a 4th perk slot or even more perks for prestige... MAKE IT MORE WORTH MY WHILE FOR LOSING ALL THOSE GUNS AND ATTACHMENTS! and keep more custom slots with prestige 5. speaking of perks and attachments... the need to include more attachments for ALL of the weapons... also should be a perk for more than one attachment on a single weapon... AND... if they have certain attachments on a gun in single player, it should be available for muliplayer... I Want A Silenced M-21 Sniper Rifle... and it would be cool to have red dot and silencer... also would be cool to have Radar Jammer and carry two primary weapons at the same time. 6. it wouldnt be a bad idea if they added one last perk for a kill streak... like an ammo drop for the team... or a health drop... or the ability to change classes while still alive... 7. Everyone Loves To Be Able To CUSTOMIZE... take it straight out of Rainbow Six 2... customize your character and to be able to customize your outfits (to an extent) for certain classes... if you could earn a ghillie suit for classes other than just the sniper class... Agree or disagree... all of these would be bad ass haha... and oh yeah, if you want zombies... play Left 4 Dead... great game...
The game has to have Co-op! Driving some tanks or being a gunner on Board a chopper on multiplayer also would rock! The guns Should be more deadly AND THE SNIPER RIFLES SHOULD NOT MOVE SO MUCH WHEN LOOKING THROUGH A SCOPE. If your prone they should'nt move at all!!!!! I would also love to see a vietnam game!!
i agree with greenbuk they should put co-op and a game like zombies then the game would be awsome ,and i hate juggernaut too and i think they should have gold for all the weapons not just the sucky ones

i really hope they make this game very different from World at War gameplay wise. there is alot of BS is world at war and its just not as fun as when i played cod4
