I'm glad they decided to bring the side-scroller back. I'm not normally one for rehashing procducts....but Mario's always been my favorite. :)

The 360 is nowhere. Maybe when Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball 2 comes out they will be back on the charts, of all games.. Im interested in seeing how well they do when the PS3 and Wii isnt even out yet. That is just going to make the 360 struggle more. Nintendo's DS Lite is the most successful gaming hardware of the year. Its conquering the charts so much!

Yep, i knew it, gundam wouldn't last long. The chart has turned back to what its usually is, same old, same old. Funny how a psp game can being first for only awhile can cause such a huge uproar from the nintendo fanboys. I mean it was a psp game to be on number one for the first time and all the nintendo fanboys go haywire

I knew Gundam wouldn't last long, anime games sell really well on the first day and than once every super-nerd has his copy that's it. Sorry you got your hopes up PSP fans. For the record though I also think NSMB is very flawed, it's like the DS's Donkey Kong Country (to be generous), how it's managed to stay on top as long as it has is beyond me. I guess when you get right down to it people don't care about amazing graphics OR innovation, they just want a "new" Mario game.

daqua_99 ... how long can NSMB keep on winning for? I think when we look at these weekly charts, we interpret them more as rankings rather than sales. As long as the DS keeps selling in the 100Ks every week in Japan, there are that many more potential customers to buy a game like NSMB. People tend to ask "how can that game keep selling" or "why are people still buying that game?" Well it's not the same person buying it. In theory, the game should stop selling after it reaches the equal number of sales as the platform.

mcquaig Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 is selling pretty good considering its release is december 30th 2006 LOL, amazing what the future will bring.. Anyway, it has been out since the end of July and has racked up 300K + in sales already. I think the first one sold over a million.

Soon as I finish Phoenix Wright, it's back to NSMB. Hey, Dead Rising should've done the same thing. Finish the game and you can save anywhere!

Well, looks like the DS reigns supreme in Japan yet again. The PS2 manages a...relatively...close second, and the #1 game of last month has dropped down to eight. Maybe it'll have the sustainability to stay on the lower end of the chart, but I'm leaning more to it hitting ten or dropping off entirely. That's still relatively impressive for a PSP game, though. MotorChallenged "Am I the only one who thinks NSMB is fundamentally flawed?" Considering how long it has been on the top of the charts? I'd wager that the answer to your question is a resounding yes. :p

Curtizio- I hope you were joking. There has never been an Xbox 360 title in the top ten. The closest was an 11. I think it was DOA4.

take that PSP fanboys!!!! and the fighting at no. 3 is pretty good i guess, but i don't understand why Starfox Command and Mariop Hoops isn't on top 10, i think japanese people don't like Basket ball (Slam Dunk, do something, nice anime by the way) and shooters, i bet if those two games were RPG games they wer going to be no 1 and 2.

Am I the only one who thinks NSMB is fundamentally flawed? I really didn't get very far before it got consigned to the "when I lose my job" section of my games drawer. The fact that you can't save wherever is just so Eighties, and not in a good way.
