Good to see the almost haf a billion dollar inventment microsoft into RARE being put to good use ...hehe
Rare's ZX Spectrum shoot-'em-up is Refuelled and ready for worldwide release this coming Wednesday.
Microsoft has strung together four consecutive weeks of Xbox Live Arcade releases, including Alien Hominid HD, Worms, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and the software giant today confirmed it was going for five straight. Next Wednesday is now confirmed as the release date for Jetpac Refuelled, Rare's update to its 1983 arcade-style shooter for the ZX Spectrum.
Jetpac Refuelled is a remake of one of Rare's earliest efforts, with 128 levels, high-definition visuals, simultaneous multiplayer action, and the Xbox 360 standard achievements and leaderboards. Players will also have the option of playing the original Jetpac instead of the remake.
Jetpac Refuelled is set for a worldwide release this Wednesday at 2 a.m. PDT. The game is rated E for Everyone and will sell for 400 Microsoft Points ($5).
Yeah, looks cool and nice but probably won't buy it... and I agree with everyone here.. I guess we all can't wait for DOUBLE DRAGON! :)
I'll probably give this one a miss. Not too keen but I guess somehow I'll eventually come and play the trial.
i dont know about jetpack so much, but yea an rpg wouldnt kill em. I'd love to see one of the old DragonQuest/Warrior games on XBLA. But please not another reiteration of FF 1. That game has been rereleased more than any game EVER.
The Catan interview on IGN a couple weeks back said "middle to end of March", so that's apparently not going to happen. Not that I'm terribly surprised.
Sweet, it looks awesome. I have never heard of the original game. in fact I didn't even know Rare was around in 1983! But this game looks really cool.
I really like Nintendo's Virtual Console and Microsoft's Live! Arcade. (I haven't yet tried Sony's PlayStation Network downloads.) The chance to play games I missed out on in the '90s is welcome for me. I do wish they would release some compilations however. A pack of seven games for $20 for instance would be a great value, even if it was only available for download. Of course, GameTap still reigns supreme as the source for old-school gaming. A huge selection at a low price, and the games are spot-on recreations of the arcade/console classics. No watered down translations there.
Worms is the best thing that was just added top XBLA,it's classic,I don't know about Jetpac...Check the XBLA Catlevania:symphony of the night,it got a 8.5:)
lame.. after the feast of great games they've just given us they try to throw this piece of garbage out there. pffft
Come on if I wanted to play a bunch of rehashed classics I'd get Gametap with a million more games at less price then 4 XBLA DL's. Put something new out liek Catan once in awhile. Either that or up it to two releases a week one old school one new. Or one board game and one action. All these games get boring after the first 24 hours.
Maybe Double Dragon wasn't ready yet? But I'll definitely download this because Rare always releases good games.
I never played this but I am going to have too. Rare has made some nice games so I hope this will be great.
400 Microsoft poitns? Wow, thats a lot of poitns for this game! I Might consider it if it had a 200 MS Points price tag. I owned a ZX Spectrum, but never owned this game.
NOOOOOO! "Classics" such as this don't feel quite as classic the second time around... Meh, I'll just go play some Tomba, playing SoTN rekindled my interest in old PS1 games...
already four good xbla games four weeks in a row, if this is a fifth, then xbla will be pretty much caught up with the vc, and there be like a race to get the most good games out the fastest
The games coming out for Live arcade just aren't good enough. Come on Microsoft, sort it out. They should make deals with people like Atlus, Sega, SNK, Treasure etc. I want games like Radiant Silvergun and NiGHTS into Dreams. Paperboy and most of the other junk on there I wouldn't play if it was free. No way would I spend money on it.
never heard of the ZX Spectrum, if it was not for that home computer you would not have Horace goes skiing, jetpac or jet set willy, these games are legends and I own the originals and a ZX Spectrum.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was all i needed and i never play or heared of ZX Spectrum wonder its good multiplayer 400 i will try it first
hell yeah. alien homid is great, castlevania's demo plays great and this is gonna be a must for me. should be great. vc most definately has the best selection of games so far even though i have a 360
gatsbythepig *** never heard of it, I am still waiting for a good game nice try...you don't even own a 360, Wii-fan....can't believe you gave Golden Axe on Virtual Console a 10!!...no wonder you are waiting for a good game....LOL
If you're STILL waiting for a good game after the past twenty years or more of video games, then maybe you should find a new hobby.
Cool I'll check it out. It has been a good few weeks. gatsbythepig- What's a good game? If you haven't found something you like so far I figure there is little hope of you finding something you do like.
