Kojima/Konami countdown replaced with 'E3' teaser timer

I just can't wait!.

According to Gamespy, the game is Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the main character is Raiden, and.... it's slated for both PS3 and XBOX360. So yes, most of the rumors turned out to be true.

Kojima will definitely surprise us in E3......... I just wish it's a cross-platform title, Whatever it is...................

this is getting crazy

He has the eyepatch so it must be post-MGS3, since he does lose his eye in MGS3. Almost definitely a sequel to MGS3. But I'm confused about whether Raiden will be in it - an R has now appeared and all that lightning and other stuff indicating he'd be involved. Main problem with this is I think they dragged it on way too long and have lost some of the effect of the anticipation - remember the amount of people looking at the end of the 1st Countdown? Compare that to now. Gamespot don't even have a story up about it. I completely forgot about the timer and only checked in today to see it since the end of the first one.

seriously though.. doesnt xbox have enough exclusives. ps3 does. probably way more then xbox. but you xbots gotta stop this. its getting a little too desperate

With letters P and R now, it looks like a pre-title. Going back to before other installments of Metal Gear, perhaps. The face looks younger. With the current jumble of letters... I'd say perhaps this: 5: PRE-E3

Go to csnation.net. It has pics of raiden, or maybe even grey fox, and big boss from Japan's Famitsu magazine. Let the speculation begin!

Wow, I called this 3 days ago, just check my post from the evening of the 24th, I stated a throw back game to Big Boss when he was younger. Just like they did with MGS 3 and Portable Ops.

ohh...i'm excited about mgs5 but i just don't like the idea that it will go back in time and tell some big boss's mission...or maybe it could be some conection between Raiden (when he was a kid in the civil war) and him. anyway....i think it would be best to just keep going with the story...

I really don't think this is right, but I was just thinking. Remake Snake Eater 3 "big boss pic" with Psp Portable ops story entertwined. Hense the new famsistua(whatever) + ps3...

This has been my theory since the last countdown was initiated: S - Snake E - Eater 3 - Three 5 - Five "Snake Eater" was the third game which takes place around the time of Big Boss, and the fifth game will be a prequel or sequel to that game.

Metal Gear prequel set post MGS3 as big boss, on PS3 is most likely what it turned out to be. I was hoping they'd do an alternative universe game, for example, Metal Gear Liquid, where you play as bad boy Liquid Snake before Shadow Moses.

haha gamespot rick rolled us all by replacing the original story page with a 404 page and moving this kojima rick rolled us again with another new timer set to expire i think sunday night at 9pm EST. But now its showing, in addition to what was there before, a P, a R and....... BIG BOSS! Definitely a Metal Gear game then :D hope its new and not a PSP game, doubt it, not with Bog Boss looking that good. Wonder what the P and R could mean now..?

heres an off the wall theory: raiden goes into a mission with snake commanding from codec. and at the end we find out snake is the evil mastermind. battle to the death!!! (original MG throwback). goodness my mind is racing.

lets hope the server dosen't crash from an overload, like, five seconds before the reveal.

It will be Raiden as the protagonist though, unless Kojima has someone else up his sleeve. I'm excited, as Hideo hasn't led me astray since MGS2, which I believe was a great game with a somewhat fuddled story line at the end. But, MGS4 cleared it up famously and more importantly made me enjoy Raiden (something that MGS2 failed to do in my humble opinion).

and while we're on the topic of "metal gear theory". why is it that raiden lived because of his suit and grey fox didn't. raiden got way more f'd up the GF!?

@pride_of_84 - That doesn't mean that the rest of your analysis isn't right on... after all Solidus was a clone of Big Boss and recruited Raiden in the same fashion. The Patriots were trying to recreate events as Zero idolized what Big Boss symbolized. They were both recreated as Cyborgs and have very similar styles. I think you are on to something, I just don't know if they are going to take the series in that direction.

@pride of 84 - Unfortunately, as cool as that sounds, Ocelot was the child the Boss was referring to. She had him after an affair with the Sorrow.

Guys, stop arguing. It's about a new MGS game, for goodness sake. Isn't that good enough? We should appreciate this exciting time as it is.

all right heres my theory: snake is too old for another game.. raiden is the next logical choice. the boss gave birth to GF, then raiden was his clone. grey fox and raiden are nearly identical (swords, blond, ect.) both child soldiers the boss revealed that she had a child i seriously doubt kojima did any of this by accident... Anyone of these things are nothin, but all together they make me think. plus it just seems like something kojima would do.. if u think im wrong by all means convince me.

@pride of 84 - That was amazing!! I remember being blown away by that ending. It was so well done, having you believe from the Title Screen that Snake was gonna off himself. When I beat it on Boss Extreme in under 5 hours (basically perfect game) I was hoping it would show more. But at least I have that Big Boss corpse mask that I can run around wearing :) @mad krips - Too true!

i like the godfather 2 idea. an act in the present, then a flashback act to fill in the blanks leading to an Ah Ha end!!
