Madden backs off
Madden NFL 2003, Medieval: Total War, and Icewind Dale II are the games moving up and down the NPD sales charts this week.
Blizzard's Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is still refusing to give up the top spot of the NPD sales chart, despite an aggressive challenge from Madden NFL 2003 last week and the continued popularity of The Sims and its numerous expansion packs. Icewind Dale II is the only game present that wasn't in the chart last week, reentering the chart at the expense of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto III.
Best-selling PC games for the week of August 25-31, 2002:
Rank / Title / Publisher / Average Price
1 / Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos / Vivendi Universal / $56
2 / The Sims / Electronic Arts / $43
3 / The Sims: Vacation / Electronic Arts / $29
4 / Medieval: Total War / Activision / $32
5 / Medal of Honor: Allied Assault / Electronic Arts / $47
6 / Icewind Dale II / Vivendi Universal / $45
7 / The Sims: Hot Date / Electronic Arts / $30
8 / Neverwinter Nights / Infogrames / $56
9 / Backyard Baseball 2003 / Infogrames / $20
10 / Madden NFL 2003 / Electronic Arts / $39
