BioWare confirms June 26 launch for release of additional endgame content for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of sci-fi RPG.
Mass Effect 3 fans hoping for resolution on the game's resolution won't have to wait much longer. BioWare today announced that Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut would be released for free on June 26.
Set for release as a free downloadable content pack, the Extended Cut will add more cutscenes and content to the game's epilogue. BioWare has said the additional scenes will "include deeper insight to Commander Shepard's journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers."
According to a FAQ on BioWare's official site, "The Extended Cut expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. It provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for. It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings."
After Mass Effect 3's March debut, some fans vocally expressed their distaste for the endgame, saying the conclusion (which was capped off by one of three largely similar cutscenes) did not sufficiently reflect player choices made over the course of the trilogy. I won't lie, I bitched about the original 'ending' along with everyone else, but may I just say THANK YOU. Lucky I had a 'restart mission' right at the end of the game; got to see what my choice looked like and watched the rest on Youtube. I was pleasantly surprised and very excited. All I really wanted was some [relevant] explanation and not for certain things to blow up. As far as I'm concerned, it's fixed and completes my favorite series on an appropriately epic note. ^_^
Got my RR back to 100% so I could start the last mission again to see the new Synthesis ending.. It was good, but then I still like the original too as I used my "Imagination" as to what would of happened after. And it wasn't far off. The rest I just watched on here.
1 Like Watched the videos on youtube, well I guess they improved the endings, they were fine, too bad they didn't release them when they were supposed to. Now it all feels unnatural and forced and I just don't care anymore.
1 Like I haven't even beaten the game lol. I'm like halfway through it doing some n7 missions. I don't even know if it's worth playing through. The game just doesn't feel like an actual rpg or mass effect game. Excluding the ending the game just feels so rushed and not very fun to play. Too much auto dialogue, meh cameos of squad from the 2nd game, fetch quests, etc. Oh well Mass Effect 1 will always remain one of my favorite rpgs along with the kotor games.

To me the game was no ALL about player choice, the main drawcard for me was a credible story that didn't stink of cliches and dudes with big chins. The player choice part was a big bonus! Really though, if you only played without either doing a second playthrough (which I am sure a good 80-90% of the whingers didn't) or without reading everyone else cry about on internet forums (which I'm sure 80-90% of people did do) you wouldn't have any goddamn idea whether your choices meant anything or not.
If the game presents a strong experience why go back and cry about what could've been? In the real world those people are commonly known as dreamers....
The problem with (and the lesson that should have been learned from ME2 for christ sakes....) is that the story telling component transitioned from being a vital focus of the game's presentation, to simply a means to introduce varying gameplay experiences to players. Look at the series: from ME1 to 2 the game transitioned from an RPG to action elements, to the complete reverse. By 3 the game is pure action, with slight RPG elements. Things like story endings and "finallys" were being thrown out the door... and it should have been more than evident.
On top of that, once 2 was going through it's motions; and there were Mass Effect books, comics and everything Star Warsish was released, it was no wonder the end of ME3 would leave a quazillion questions to be answered. This game merely served as a catalyst into the ME world.
With these very two clear distinctions between what was occurring in reality, and what so many disgruntled people expected, I don't see why there was a need to even add additional endings. I can sympathize with those that may believe that the story presentation went from intriguing to disappointing - however to want a whole new ending is pointless. If you don't like how someone presents a story, you don't ask them to "try it again" LMAO!. You just say "that sucks I'm not buying that @#$% any more" Halfway through 2, I knew how the series was changing. I knew what to expect. Therefore, I got 3 only expecting a good action game. Anything additional was just "a side show"

It reminds me of TV movie once, set in the American South during the slavery era. There was this young girl who keeps bullying and making fun of a black boy who is the son of the slaves at his house. One day, she and the boy fell down together. The girl saw blood on her clothes and screamed because she thought she was bleeding. But she wasn't, it was the boy's blood. She doesn't believe him at all, because the blood was red and the girl was taught that black people did not have human blood so she ran into the house saying the boy hurt her.

@sieg6529 I personally don't mind Origin, I mean its just a dumbed down version of steam. If it was compulsory to have if Mass Effect 3 was a pure single player game, then yes it would be absolute trash but since it has multiplayer the ability to add players you enjoy playing with is fine. My problem with it is, if you're going to copy someone else (Valve) at least MAKE IT BETTER NOT JUST A COPY AND PASTE JOB. That is why Electronic Arts is the most pathetic company.
2 Like Everyone is so cynical. Bioware gives the people what they ask for... Something many developers would not even consider doing after launch, but even then people still say it will suck and that it isn't worth the time or memory on their hard drives.. before they have even touched it! Give Bioware a chance, they went out of their way to lend more closure to their story and please their fans.
4 Like Bioware didn't give what the fans asked for, because if they did then there wouldn't have been a really crappy ending to ME3 in the first place.
I am or was giving Bioware a chance, but I wanted a whole different ending not just more cutscenes and crap that this Extended Cut will consist of.

9 Like I was just saddened by the overall feeling that the game was rushed. They could have done so much more and made a 4th game. A two-parter, if you will, to finish the fate of Shepard and his friends. I just felt so much closer to my crew mates in 2 that I did in 3, not to mention that the story in 2 was way more fleshed out.
@WarpedCore Yes. It took two full games to get to the epic battle with the reapers and it was over in one game? The most destructive force in the galaxy gets defeated in a couple weeks? It just felt too short.
3 Like I doubt that they could add anything to the endings to improve them. It's nice that they are trying but short of being rewritten and half of the cast being asked to come back to record alternate and improved scenes, I am positive nobody will be pleased.

2 Like @Leejjohno For those who already know the ending... it can only get better, if only slightly! Whoa, so many plotholes though I can't wait to see their attempt at patching that. No doubt rewritting would have been easier.

I've only seen the refuse ending and it is a lot better now, with a greater focus on narrative than player imagination.
I still didn't like the fact that the illusive man couldn't be worked with or persuaded given the choices we made in ME2.
