Mass Effect Infiltrator en route to iOS
EA's third-person shooter tie-in for Apple hardware will boost galactic readiness in Mass Effect 3, unlock exclusive weapons.
Those who want to boost their galactic readiness factor for Mass Effect 3's finale but can't be bothered with multiplayer will soon have a new option. Today, Electronic Arts announced Mass Effect Infiltrator, an iOS title that will impact the Galaxy at War mode in Mass Effect 3.
EA described Infiltrator as a "fully featured" third-person shooter set within the Mass Effect universe. In it, players assume the role of an intergalactic hero charged with freeing prisoners from a Cerberus base, as well as gathering damning intelligence on the criminal network.
Freed prisoners and gathered intelligence will boost a player's galactic readiness in Mass Effect 3. BioWare has previously addressed this galactic readiness level, saying that those who do not participate in Galaxy at War through Mass Effect 3's multiplayer modes can still achieve the "optimal, complete ending" through single-player alone.
Beyond galactic readiness, Infiltrator will also give players the chance to unlock exclusive weapons that can be used in Mass Effect 3.
Mass Effect Infiltrator will be available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
