Mass Effect version of Risk shown off by BioWare

Latest video-game-themed adaptation of Hasbro's board game coming later this year.
BioWare has announced its own Mass Effect-themed take on Hasbro's strategy board game Risk, scheduled to be released later this year.
The developer took to Facebook to show off the game's box. "Oh yes, it's real, and it's coming this Fall!" said BioWare.
The art used is the same as the cover for last year's Mass Effect 3, suggesting the board game adaptation will revolve around Shepard's last adventure. And the Galaxy at War tagline is clearly visible on the box, too--Mass Effect 3's galaxy-wide resource management and conquest system would likely make a solid base for Risk's territorial objectives.
Hasbro is no stranger to video game adaptations of Risk and has previously themed its iconic game around Metal Gear Solid, Starcraft, and Halo.
BioWare is still teasing additional DLC for Mass Effect 3, with eagle-eyed data miners recently uncovering files that suggest the company will bring single-player data into the next wave of co-op levels.

Cool now can we get a Mass Effect RTS? From the time I played the first Mass Effect I always thought wow this universe would make for a great RTS game.

I..fully..await this. And will buy it considering I have the small cash. I love Risk and have a good history with it. Plus, Mass Effect is one of my favorite series of all time. I can't wait to hear more actually. :p
Risk isn't a very interesting game, could make a much better board game with the Mass Effect license if given to a better company.
@Legolas_Katarn You're...very wrong (I guess it IS an opinion :P) about that lol. Risk is one of the most popular strategic board games of all time. I'd love to see that theme set in space. With the right people, and attitude, I've never had a bad time with Risk. :)
@TheBlackSpeedRisk gameplay rarely changes much based on what theme it adds form what I've seen (with the exception of Risk Legacy that has permanent map changes effects based on how games went). I would much rather see a bigger more interesting game made with the Mass Effect universe. With all the races, technology, and ships they could do something like Twilight Imperium or Star Trek Fleet Captain or, they could make a game with combat and unit placement that is something like risk but they can make it a lot more thematic and interesting like War of the Ring, with all the varied abilities people can have and the war going on they can make an interesting mission based miniatures game like Earth Reborn. I wouldn't want the game to end up almost exactly like one of those either but the Mass Effect universe can get a much more interesting game out of it then just another version of risk.
@Patohua1 @Legolas_Katarn @TheBlackSpeed ? I listed some of the most popular and best reviewed board games out. They have sold very well, had expansions, and in War of the Ring and Twilight Imperiums case have been reprinted over the years because of their popularity
@Legolas_Katarn @TheBlackSpeed Legolas Katarn, your idea sounds good in theory, but the problem is no one would ever buy it because they wouldn't understand it. There are so many other unique franchise games that simply hit the market stillborn because they were so complicated and no one could tell if it was worth buying without playing it first. Granted, I agree that Bioware should try to make this version of Risk more unique, but I am glad they are going with the Risk title
@Legolas_Katarn @TheBlackSpeed I get what you're saying. It just seems extremely ambitious and more innovative than what I think they're going for, at least right now. But yeah, that IDEA in itself, and those ideas, seem cool. I took love and appreciate the lore and universe enough that its OWN board game would be amazing. For now, I can just deal with this though. Who knows the variations and adaptations that can be added with the original ruleset though. There are plenty of board games that always offer different ways to play, and I would hope and imagine this is no different.
I wouldn't be surprised if they lopped off some parts of the galaxy and you have to pay extra to get them to ship it to you. And after you conquer all, you can expect the whole board to self destruct for a 'bittersweet' ending with all the artistic integrity in the world.

How many endings can you whip out and are they colorfull? And please don't tell me we can win against the reapers in a board game without making awful decisions!
