They are so hush-hush on this update, a specific date would be real nice instead of me going into the settings and checking for an update everyday.
Capcom plans to let gamers get a taste of upcoming action game as soon as Nintendo launches its new handheld's downloadable storefront.
Mega Man Legends fans have been waiting more than a decade for another 3D adventure starring Capcom's Blue Bomber. While the publisher still hasn't set a proper release date for the 3DS debut of the third full game in the series, fans will soon be able to get a look at the game in mid-development.
Capcom today announced that the downloadable Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be available on Nintendo's 3DS eShop as soon as the online storefront opens for business. While the 3DS launched in North America last month, Nintendo has said the system's downloadable game store won't launch before late May.
The Prototype Version of Mega Man Legends 3 will give players their first chance to try out the new character Barrett and will feature a series of missions. Once those are cleared, Capcom said players will get access to a debug menu that lets them use new abilities and see unfinished areas of the game.
For Mega Man Legends 3, Capcom is leaning on the series' fan base, billing it as "the first Capcom game to be co-developed by the fans." The publisher has invited gamers to influence Mega Man Legends 3 development by visiting the game's official site, voting on character designs, suggesting Easter eggs for the game, and more.
Capcom did not specify a price for the Prototype Version of Mega Man Legends 3.
@xOmniCloudx I wanna come out and first apologize to the Megaman fanbase. Clearly I came across the wrong way. I wasn't calling any of you Megaman gamers "fanboys" although that's not derogatory in this sense anyway. What i was trying to say is I have never played a Megaman game but I will likely pick this one up because it looks like a good game. I was simply trying to praise the game on the appearance of merit. Having never played any in the series, what I see in the previews looks to be a great looking game, regardless of title of history. Unbiased, with not predisposition or precedence, the game looks good. Maybe this will be one to get me into the series. To all those who enjoy the series, my sincerest apologies for any condescension taken from my previous remarks.
@inaka_rob That was un-called for, I said you were free to have your own opinions but... You calling me a little kid because I enjoy games that are rated E? I thought Rated E was for EVERYONE not little kids? See this is why People like you really need to open your eyes more, Yes I know Mature games are for Mature People who want something for their tastes Go Figure, I play them allot myself but just because we decide to play a game thats aimed for Everyone(or a nintendo game for that matter) were called kids? Back in the old days, nobody gave a care over how games were and looked, we only cared about gameplay. thats why nintendo is still here since way back then. Whatever you think of them is up to you but remember that they are just one big company, and just like every big or 3rd party, they have their own styles. Dont like it, thats your decision, dont throw it off, its like someone is throwing off the Mature rating and calling you a little kid for playing them.
@Marcster1994 Well to sweeten the pot I say they include remakes of 1 and 2, I would gladly pay 50 dollars for that.
I doubt the demo will cost a cent. Nintendo stated they wanted improve on the shopping experience of the terrible DSi and Wii Shop and start distributing free demos. I don't see why not. The Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and even the Wii all have free demos.
@inaka_rob Thats a childish thing to say, Nobody "Grows out", Mature people who actually "Grow up" dont care about the games looks or bloody style, rather the gameplay and concept, and lets be honest, Nintendo's the only company to make a game for Everyone that everyone actually plays. If your slow, Adults got more into Pokemon Black/White than the kiddies because that game actually went back to its roots and made itself a true sequel to Red/Blue which brought their attentions back. Games like COD and GTA and so on that rely heavily on graphics and being Realistic and bloody dont appeal to the Mature gamers out there, the gameplay and concept itself does and they enjoy every game no matter what it is, why do you think Nintendo's games are still popular? because their loved by everyone for the gameplay and uniqueness and not just the audeince the rating box says its for. You dont have to like nintendo, thats your decision but saying that youve "Grown out" is immature to say.
@KillerBill316 Agreed. MML is a game meant to be played on the big screen. It should haven been for wii.
I don't see anywhere in this article that they are charging for it. Also if they did charge for a demo, then that is fine with me. We used to buy demos all the time when the PlayStation was around. Nobody cared about those magazines, all we wanted was those demo discs. Mega Man Legends needed a new installment, and Capcom rarely makes bad games, so I am excited.
they can't give the demo for free? that is bs (along with 80% of the best games for the 3ds this year will be remakes). charging us for it....really? i know capcom's greedy, but i hope ninty doesn't let this become the norm. at least make a demo of the demo for free.
@ inaka_rob Okay.So you don't like Nintendo first party games anymore.Whatever.You can't please everybody. But I don't think it's reasonable to insinuate that everyone "grows out" of it by saying new kids and casual gamers are born every day.Plenty of adults positively love those games.I like them better than any game on the HD systems I've ever played, except Portal 1 and 2,which I rank right up there with them.
This is so great. My only saddness is that I never played Legends 2,and it is one of the hardest games to find EVER.On places like ebay and such, you pay anywhere from 60 to 100 dollars.I can't believe people are actually trying to sell it for that.
They finally come out with Mega Man Legends 3, but just had to put it on 3DS, a system I don't own or can buy... epic sadface :(
I hope they don't ruin the legends series like they did with dmc4 and re5. Also, I hope Capcom releases L1 and L2 on the PSN and mm64 on the wii as well. Can't wait to replay them, I was a kid back then and didn't pay much attention to the story :P
...Are they serious? Ive DREAMED about a new megaman legends!!! OMFG ARE THEY SERIOUS? My excuse list for getting the 3DS (when the price drops a bit, of course, atm the game lineup blows to justify that price tag) is already Zelda (obviously) Star fox, Mario party, Mario cart... god so much, but now, Megaman legends? this has seriously made me so happy
@hotdiddykong I dont really know what your talking about... I just dont care for nintendo games any more. In house games that is. I simply feel... I outgrew nintendo. I bought a wii. I played a bunch of games. Zelda, Metroid, Mario. I didnt like any of them. its that simple. I out grew nintendo. BUT good for nintendo, new kids and casaual gamers are born everyday.
@kiramasaki Well, you don't have to play it with the 3D on, just turn the 3d off if it's not your thing.
This is just like Dead Rising 2 Case Zero, especially since its the start of the 3DS eshop makes it interesting. Capcom's really on ball here especially with the 3DS, MML3,Resident evil mercenaries, Super street Fighter 4, Professor Layton Vs Ace attorney, God knows whats next!
Mega Legends is the ONLY reason I will ever buy a 3DS. there isnt a single game that intrestets me. Resident evil I suppose. sorry. I know nintendo makes great games, but I just dont like them anymore.
I wish Capcom would've brought over the first 2 Mega Man Legends on PSP. I have the PS1 versions, but, I've yet to play thru them & have heard the controls are much bettter on the PSP versions.
I was wondering whatever happened to that weird Mega Man Universe game they were promoting a year or so ago....turns out its canceled.
@Miketendo: I can tell you're young. Mega Man Legends has ALWAYS been the blacksheep of the Mega Man franchise and gets hatred from a lot of the other MM fans. It has nothing to do with name recognition. It has to do with the fact the first two games are awesome. Learn your history and don't fail next time.
1 and 2 were the reason I bought a PS1. I'm very excited :D I'm sure they will release a console version as well, notice this one is called prototype
Honestly im not gunna lie, I have never played a Mega Man game... Go ahead, boo if you must but atleast I'm not sold on fan boy name recognition. I will likely download this, because it looks like a good game not because it loos like a familiar name.
please dont mess this up having a new playable character who is more agile than megaman worries me =/ i hope megaman is the main character and they dont suddenly switch on us like metal gear solid 2.
@cmacinnis, what the hell are you talking about there are like 2 or 3 megamans ( zx is one for sure) on the ds, and none that i can remember on the psp
I'm still super pissed that this is only for the 3DS. Yeah, fans have waited a VERY long time for this game to be released, and I'm sure a pretty large portion of those fans do not own or intend to own a 3DS. The first two are some of my all time favorites, so it frustrates me knowing that I'll probably never play a game that I've waited 11 years for.
