Sony's PS3 baseball sim arrives March 8 with Move compatibility, 3D support, free month of MLB.TV, baseball-themed DualShock 3 controller; PS2 and PSP versions also planned.
Major League Baseball's opening day doesn't come until March 31, but Sony is already making its pitch for the next installment in its long-running baseball sim series. The company today announced a March 8 release for MLB 11: The Show on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PSP.
The PS3 version of the game will introduce Move compatibility and 3D support into the series. According to ESPN, the motion-sensing control option will be limited to a Home Run Derby mode, while a new analog stick scheme will be used to control batting, pitching, and fielding. For purists, the game's previous button-based control scheme will be included as an option.
Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer will return as the cover athlete after adding a third consecutive Gold Glove and fourth Silver Slugger award for his performance in the 2010 campaign. He was also named 2009 American League Most Valuable Player and is a three-time AL batting champion.
Sony will be rewarding those who preorder the PS3 edition of MLB 11: The Show with a free 30-day trial of MLB.TV, the streaming service that lets players watch regular season games from around the league on their PS3s or PCs with DVR-like features. In addition, Sony will be debuting a baseball-themed PS3 controller alongside the game. The MLB 11: The Show Edition Dual Shock 3 controller will sell for $54.99 and come in white with a red baseball stitching pattern on the front.

annoyingdevil- move is only for home run derby which seem a bit disspointed. it just like an add on to the game to see maybe how well it does. and maybe next year they add the controller to whole game. I understand where your coming from the wii with the baseball but i wouldn't really consider wii sports baseball a real baseball game. one of the reason i got a ps3 is for the sow just got it the other day. and having a blast. 2ksports... well i dont need to say we all know.
@annoyingdevil home run derby mode is a mode where a certain number of batters take turns to see who can hit the most home runs in one session hope this helps
damn what is home derby mode ? oh well if theres a demo that has move control and home derby then im just gona play the demo and i wont get bored .
i was addicted to wii sports baseball but after that there were no more baseball games on the wii now i have ps move i hope this game has superb controls like sport champions . ive never played baseball , ive never whatched baseball but im still looking forward to this

You know... I'm not too big on getting a controller just because it's a different color. But for some reason, I like that baseball DS3.
hudler, vasgersian, and the soup are great in the game im not sure what your taling about. the game play is easily the most realistic of any sports game. has by far less glitches then the 2k series. and their marketing scheme is that its one of the best sports games out there. they dont have to have a million dollar give away just so people would buy the game. and i agree tulo def should have been on the cover, or doc. pumped for this game to come out!
@hockeybub89 Definitely not torture. Albeit not crazy about 2k7-2k9, last year's was much improved and a lot more fun to play overall. The Show wasn't nearly as fun for me, although it was the prettier-looking game. I'm also big into presentation and commentary, and if you wanna talk torture, talk about listening to hours of Rex Hudler, Matt Vasgersian, and Soup, as they repeat themselves with their bland and annoying commentary.
Looks like I might have to order this into the UK. My American wife loves the old Basey Balls
What's up with everyone caring so much who's on the cover? It's what's on the disc that matters most. That said, Tulo should have been on the cover, or maybe Carlos Gonzalez. Read the preview by ESPN and this game sounds like it's going to be fantastic, as always... Can't wait to pick this game up on release day. Lookin' to get a new controller too, might get this cool looking baseball one.
@Egotte Why would you torture yourself with another one of 2Ks pathetic excuses for a baseball game? Since EA won the NFL license, 2K Sports can't make a decent sports game outside of basketball to save their lives.
you've gotta be kidding me if Joe Mauer is on the cover again. he didn't do horrible but he definitely didn't have his best season. I honestly think they just need to keep putting MVP's on the cover or a Cy Young. like how Roy Halladay is going on the cover of MLB 2K11. just goes to show how uncreative Sony is anymore, especially with the look of that baseball controller. that's a controller that came out 15 years ago but with a Playstation home button and red lines. I like MLB The Show, don't get me wrong but the games are too similar every year. I played 08 for a while and then upgrading to 10 and it felt almost the same, just very slightly updated graphics and updated rosters but that's required for sports games. they need some new, better announcers too. not ones that said stupid crap like "this pitcher knows the importance of first pitch strikes" I mean come on? even a little kid in the crowd probably knows the importance of that. and let's not forget "he needed an oar to hit that" or "that was almost in the dugout! what are you swinging at?" well if it was almost in the dugout, how did the catcher catch it? okay, rant over :]

Last year's didn't do it for me. I'm getting MLB 2k11 only, unless the new control scheme for The Show is better than the same old tired one they've been using forever.
the last installment was awesome and this 1 is still going to be the same awesome baseball experience but why are they still making these games for the ps2?
