Does anyone know what weapons come in the Ninja Gaiden sigam pack? Nice to see that Evolution studio's allows all the vehicles to be downloaded stand alone if people wanted as consumer choice is always a good thing.
Content packs for Phil Harrison's favorite racer and Ninja Gaiden Sigma pop up on Sony's online service; Stranglehold, NBA Live 08 demo'd.
Last week's Thursday update was big for Sony's PlayStation Network. In addition to Incognito's long-awaited and well-received Warhawk, Sony's online service saw the addition of Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix; an add-on pack for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that, among other features, updated the game with online play; demos for EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and NASCAR 08, as well as 2K Sports' All-Pro Football 2K8. While that amount of content is sure to be anomaly on any downloadable game service, Sony has another significant content infusion in store for PlayStation 3 owners this week.
Leading this week's offerings are add-on packs for Evolution Studios' dirt racer MotorStorm and Team Ninja's action game Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The MotorStorm Weekend Add-On Pack includes a new track, four new vehicles, nine additional races, and a new online mode, and is available for $5.99. The new vehicles waiting to be caked with mud are the Wakazashi Razor bike, Wombat Mudslide ATV, Atlast Varjack mudplugger, and Atlas Arizona big rig. Each vehicle is also available as a stand-alone download for $0.99.
Also available is the Ninja Gaiden Sigma Weapons Master Add-On for $2.99. The first of three planned updates, the Weapons Master pack augments the game with five survival modes.
The PlayStation 3's growing pile of game demos also expands by two this week. Though the full version of Midway's Stranglehold was pushed back to September 25, the free trial can now be had on the PSN. EA Sports is also passing off its third demo in two weeks to the service with a trial of NBA Live 08. NBA Live 08 will officially take the court October 2.
Xb360 charges you monthly and then charges you for points. while you get free downloads yes!!! You still have to pay for the good stuff as with the Ps3, but you dont get billed monthly on the Ps3.Bonus i say! The network is still young and will grow from strength to strength. Patience is key. The main thing is you pay for the game you buy, if you want extras you pay. If you bought a burger and wanted cheese you would pay for the cheese..
ninjasam Yeah screw that, im not paying a WHOLE 3 DOLLARS FOR AN ADD ON! THATS CRAZY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yeah! Cuz u know......those 3 dollars could be better wasted on a cheeseburger.
Serious I can't believe that the people complaining are actual PS3 owners. Its Free! We are getting demos, wallpaper, and videos for free! And the demos have been great! X360 owners are paying for the privilege to just come online. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually u can go online for free on Xbox Live. U can also download demos and vids and stuff.
yeah.. umm. Grim, 4 maps for gears of war were 10 dollars. for the last 4 months. I realize they're free now, but when you already pay as much as you do for xbox live, for them to put those on there for 10 dollars is WAY more ridiculous than how much you get for 6 dollars in this update for motorstorm. so I'm not sure how you think that xbox live is a better deal in this regard
I know its free - my point was that by the time you pay for your motorstorm update - it costs more than xbox live does for that month, whilst alot of that stuff comes included with the subcription on xbox live - either way you are paying for extra stuff - but I would rather just know I am paying once a year than every month for little things here and there - imagine the costs if you regularly bought updates and things.. Trust me - its free to entice people into microtransactions. No service is "free".
Why do they always make us pay for this stuff. Release some free content once in a while. Kind of like Epic and their Gears of War map packs. Gears was a highly successful game and they didn't charge for their stuff. Well the PSN is free, so I guess it does off set it a bit.
"Let's see 80 Microsoft Points is equal to US $1. so your average 800 point content is equal to $10. So the Motorstorm pack would have cost 480 microsoft points The master wepon add on would have cost 240 points. seems like a deal now doesn't it?" I agree that some 360 stuff is overpriced, and also you have the subscription cost too. BUT - I got a bunch of gears of war maps and loads of other stuff included in that subscription price. For me - the measly update for Motorstorm should of been free - the $6 that it costs is almost 2 months xbox live - which offers some very cool free stuff. Both the sony and microsoft network have their good and bad points. But I am voting for microsoft this time as I personally prefer a "pay for what you get" system, and £3 a month for xbox live (if you get the camera, you get a year xbox live - which totals up to about £3 a month). No hidden costs except stuff which you would like to get as an extra. But one extra track and a few cars... surely this should of been there in the first place, as there werent that many tracks in the game. And to pay $6 for it... By the time I get Wipeout HD I would of spent about £20 odd on microtransactions - where in xbox live alot of that stuff is free.
I can't believe that the people complaining are actual PS3 owners. Its Free! We are getting demos, wallpaper, and videos for free! And the demos have been great! X360 owners are paying for the privilege to just come online. Maybe it won't seem like much if we use the lame Microsoft point system. Let's see 80 Microsoft Points is equal to US $1. so your average 800 point content is equal to $10. So the Motorstorm pack would have cost 480 microsoft points The master wepon add on would have cost 240 points. seems like a deal now doesn't it?
love some the exclusive content(nba is old though). but i hate how some members who were against the microtransactions when ms started doing it are now supporting it. "Why does a "Weapons Master Add-On" only add survival modes? Should we get...I dunno...weapons?!" a weapons master is a person who has mastered a weapons of different styles hence they named it that.
More mediocre game demos. Sony seems to be shooting itself in the foot. Nothing has come out with a big bang yet.
they shouldnt make every single add on more money it should be free i mean full games like warhawk yea n big add ons maybe but small things like the extra vehicles in motorstorm that is ridiculous..but nba live looks awesome from the demo and anyone know when "Home" will come out???
My reasons for bugging against this "addon" is that the game is not very feature-packed as it is. And having ONE track and only a handful of cars (etc) hardly seems something worth a purchase. With benefits like blu-ray, I would of hoped that the game would of been fully fleshed out without the need to BUY more cars. The whole point of blu-ray is that everything will be on one disc. If we all have to download extra stuff, then its no different than having a 360 with its smaller disc format. Alot of updates and things for games for 360 games are "free" (included in subscription)... Now, I prefer to pay my £5 a month for xbox live (or £3 a month if you do the year subscription) than pay £6 odd (probably costs more for UK) for little updates to games. Especially when the bluray format is supposed to get rid of the whole "lack of content" because everything is supposed to be on the disc! I can understand paying for loads of vehicles that you like, like if you just want motocycles etc. And if you wanted like 10 extra tracks - something like that seems like a worth purchase. But ONE track for the cost of 1 month xbox live with all the cool stuff it offers? Something tells me that Sony is trying to make its cash back from the lack of offering a subscription. ONE track? Sounds like one too many microtransactions to me...
PSN is great. I like the online functionality on my ps3 better than on my 360. I dont know if I willl get the moterstorm add on. its annoying that they dont do these for free I know thats asking alot but I already bought the game. I will get a new game instead.
The add-on to Niinja Gaiden is supposed to be one of 3 If Team Ninja decides to charge us once for all three packs, meaning just $3 for all three add-on then maybe I'll DL it. Besides, I've yet to finish the missions
jocacu... You are absolutley WRONG!!! Xbox live with 10 months was way better than PSN today? HELL YES!!!
What I'm wondering is why are people so happy to be paying extra for content that should have been in the game.
AMEN SALUU!!!!!!!!! Saluu: "**** the ****** strangehold demo and live, wher the HELL is SKATE?!!! DAMN IT!! "
Great update. I don't know why people are complaining about PSN. PSN is out for what... 10 months and people want PSN with more stuffs than Xbox live which is out for way longer than PSN. Do you think Xbox live with 10 months was way better than PSN today? Shut up you all.
OMG! I live in the U.K. (Wales) and the only things that have been added to my playstation store out of that huge list are: Motorstorm weekend and a Dirt demo! the only other things that have been added are some trailers which are not very good at all....... GRRRR!
@ shabib68 "Yea you guys who are hating on Sony have no clue what your talking about. First, you have to pay for XBOX Live than you have to pay for every freaking thing off XBOX Live." Incorrect. There are demos galore (including mandated demos for EVERY Live arcade title), Free Add on packs (depending on the game) and even a few free Live arcade games. There still is PLENTY of paid for content, it is a store after all. Oh, and Access to it all is Free, you don't have to buy gold to use Live Silver (A la sam's club) "I am pretty sure in a couple of months those add on packs will be free as well. " Based on? Did they announce it like the Gears or Halo maps where they were paid DLC for 6 months then free? Or are you basing this off something else (IE: wishfull thinking).
I liked Motorstorm, but not so much as to pay $6 for more stuff. And, WTF?! Where the hell is custom soundtrack feature or single player race customization?! I'll pay $6 for that but where the hell is it?!
Quite a good move by Sony, but are the demos free as well? Or do they come with a price tag like the upgrades?
@Rangel_19 "Well, hopefully the PSN can be up to par with XBOX Live soon. I just love the fact that it is free. I can understand that we need to pay for some stuff/content we get from them, but at least we don't have to pay to go there in the first place!" One can only hope, however XBox live doesn't charge to connect It's a Store and they want people there, so the Silver Membership exists to do everything but online multiplayer and voice chat. For the majority of the service (IE Everything but Online multiplayer) The Free Xbox Live Silver is better than PSN. Nothing Sony can't fix, but it will cost some $$$ and take some time.
yea i have to agree with shabib68, psn you may have to pay for some stuff but on xbox live you have to pay for the online capability in the first place let alone then paying for the content, and its kinda stupid that i see some videos costing ms points when i go on here and see the video for free.
Well, hopefully the PSN can be up to par with XBOX Live soon. I just love the fact that it is free. I can understand that we need to pay for some stuff/content we get from them, but at least we don't have to pay to go there in the first place! Pretty awesome for all the Sony fans out there!
Frankly it doesn't bother me if they really add something, it does bother me when it's just a tactic to make easy money. Some Xbox 360 games got supposed additions which are only like 100kb big, all it does unlock something that is already in the game, and that does piss me off.
the onlyu problem I see is gettiing games that cost $60, and the companies not finishing them so that later on we have to purchase more stuff for it.
Great we get to pay money for stuff that should have shipped with the tech demo known as Motorstorm and I remember us (gamers) getting the Ninja Master pack for free back on the Xbox. I guess Next Gen really means you pay $60 for an unfinished game and you must pay more to get the finished version.
One of the scarce good download weeks on the PSN, going in the good direction, i hope they can keep this up
Good update I must say. I love Motor Storm, And finally some demos that are released before the games are released, always a plus
I don't know how this plays out exactly in motorstorm or other games with DLable content, but once you DL new vehicles, how do other ppl online see your new vehicles if they didn't DL it? Do they not see it? Do they see it? If so, then isn't this DLable content really already in the game, and you are paying to unlock it (reminiscent of that Apple network card that had an unlockable .n network for an extra $5)? I'm not sure where I'm at on the issue, I'm guessing it's our own fault for turning DLable content into such a profitable venture for companies. Not only will we pay $60 for a game, but we'll pay $5 increments to make it better. Hopefully, this doesn't end up costing more than a full-fledged expansion pack.
Gettin' my PS3 today, anyway, and a few more games, including Motorstorm, to add to my pre-PS3 library I started cuz of deals I've seen leading up to today. I'm excited to hear about these updates and demos and, yea, it sucks to have to pay for items that should have already been in the original Motorstorm, since I'm hearing that it's fairly "barebones" but I'm amped to play it. Couldn't get into it on the store demos like I wanted to so I've played very little, to date... I like the fact that they're giving up some good ish. Yea, my dude and co have 360s and they do get demos quicker than on PSN but doesn't matter to me...only if there is something that I REALLY wanna play and they get it first and start telling me about it, making me salivate. Right now, NBA2K8 is the one that could cause that but only if they demo it before the release...
Yea you guys who are hating on Sony have no clue what your talking about. First, you have to pay for XBOX Live than you have to pay for every freaking thing off XBOX Live at least with ps3 playing online, browsing the web and downloading majority of the stuff is free. I am pretty sure in a couple of months those add on packs will be free as well.
