Sony is continuing to flesh out its selection of titles on the PlayStation Store with a decent-sized update this week. For the PS3, Namco Museum Essentials is a $10 arcade pack that includes the original editions of Galaga, Pac-Man, Dragon Spirit, and Xevious. Moreover, the publisher is including Xevious: Resurrection, a new remake of the top-down shooter that features a high-definition face-lift and what Namco calls "enhanced gameplay for today's refined shoot-'em-up audience."
There is a weighty trio of PSP titles this week, with one particularly lengthy title headlining the pack: Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? ($20). The offbeat 8-bit-style strategy game allows players to create deadly dungeons filled with a menagerie of monsters. Also new are the comic-book-based Unbound Saga ($15) and a portable edition of the PC adventure classic Myst ($20).
Crossing over from the original PlayStation is the 2001 military tactics sim Spec Ops: Ranger Elite for $6, which Sony calls "one of the first realistic military tactical combat simulators to be released." For the same price, gamers can also pick up a new Ghostbusters-themed costume pack for Little Big Planet. The package includes the iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man uniform and a few other series-themed outfits.
Last but not least, PSN is offering a series of catalog games for 50 percent off for one week until July 23. Savage Moon, Crash Commando, PixelJunk Eden, Brain Challenge, and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade have all dropped from $9.99 to $4.99, with Flock! going from $14.99 to $7.49. Also available at a $5 discount is Wipeout HD for $14.99.
The Ghostbuster costumes for LBP are pretty sweet.
The namco collection I would have paid 5 bucks for, but definately not 10. Thats the price of a full downloadable title but your offering 4 games from the early 80's (even if they are classics) and a "HD" remake of one of those. Please.. somebody already said it but my Genesis collection cost 40 bucks for over 40 games. 40 games from the 90's. I'll plug my Atari 2600 in.
"enhanced gameplay for today's refined shoot 'em up audience." LOL
jeez, bad Pac-Man photo; is it just me or does it look like he's almost giving a thumbs-up endorsement of ecstasy usage?
The namco collection is crap, its not like sonic's ultimate genesis collection now thats a heck of a deal for 30 bucks, they want 10 bucks for about 8 games, your crazy sega gave me 45 for 30 bucks..
Savage Moon is awesome. I play that all time. Game Sharing is the bomb!
oooo when i heard namco museum i thought u meant like a nude picture of taki or something... nvm
i just got the new namco museum ...and like it alot :)
wow. I'm so glad I got a PSN card today only to come home to a PSN sale! I got the Dead Kennedys and Green Day packs for Rock Band (inb4 lolPunk) and I was gonna get Everyday Shooter, but instead I got PJ Eden. Now I just need to decide between Crash Commando and 3 on 3 NHL
Hey guys, what do you think of NHL? It's cheap, and I'm saving the last $20 on my wallet for MvC2. If I can get some money from my folks it's no problem to spend all of it. But I was thinking if I should get Eden or NHL, because I still have Comet Crash and people here are wanting some offline multiplayer right now.
Think I might get the Stay Puft costume.
How many times do they want me to buy Pac Man? If there were 1 original idea for every 100 ports, re-releases, re-hashes and tossed-off sequels, we'd be in the midst of a freaking renessaince here.
@chibi-acer They saving all for psp go release date. I bet they will have at least 100 psn update games (including ps1, psp old umd and apps) more than today's psn catalog at launch. And before Xmas you will see 130 more than you see now.
The PSP shop on PSN still has a ways to go. 3 new titles is nice, but it'll at this rate it will be a while before they have a substantial library. They really need to crank it up if they really want the PSP Go to succeed. That, and there's a bunch of games I want to play on my PSP now, but I hate UMD so much...
I have to buy Unbound Saga, just because it looks like a 3D Comix Zone, also I would buy Myst, but I imported it on UMD last year, why did it took such a long time to release it?!
Such as the "random, bad" Castlevania:SOTN, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy VII, etc etc? :)
lol i agree with bleigh316 but there are a few titles in that bunch that i do consider some of my fav games like crash
Really? more random, bad PS1 games?? those are not what you'd call classics.
