'Nearly' 30 3D PS3 games due in 2011

@solamon,again no,360 does not support native stereoscopic 3d.This is not my opinion,this is fact.I know that Crysis2 runs in 3d on both consoles but the 360 version is NOT native 3d.It is side by side stereoscopic 3d which as I said works ok but true native stereoscopic 3d is much better.

@solamon http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33071 as for xbox, suffice to say it 'can' do 3D but it's pushing things and technically it's HDMI doesn't have the bandwidth. PS3 games may not do 1080p 3D either (but could) but the console itself doesn't have enough power though it's HDMI is able to (hence full 3D 1080p blurays on PS3). Crytek, not caring anymore about PC, has obviously used the lowest common denominator method again and found what was workable for Xbox while keeping performance up and applied it to PC as well (though I'd hope you could force it on in the drivers and avoid their cacky version). Edited this down as it was too long and repeating, and a bit confusing.

@EbeneezerGoode: I'm still not convinced. This is a quote from the very first line of the article "Crytek says that the 3D mode in the Xbox 360 multiplayer demo of Crysis 2 does not represent the quality of the stereoscopic support in the final game. " They then go on to explain that the demo was based on an old implementation of their 3d tech. Either way, from what this article says, the game is offering 2 different views for each eye on the 360, which is stereoscopic 3D. I'm not trying to sound like a 360 booster, I'm just not seeming to find the info you are.

3D is fine when the source is fine. simple as that. Movies, games, they all differ in their execution. I also have a 3DTV (well actually I returned it recently but not cos of 3D but other issues, but will pick up a 2011 3DTV again soon), watched many films, some were poor some were eye popping. Game wise there's a definite immersive effect when done right, but then i've been using 3D on PC for over a decade so no suprise there. 3D is not a 'fad' and this time it won't die, the tech just wasn't good enough in the past, and it's only just about good enough at this time but in the near future it will be pretty much perfect and then all you naysayers will be swooning over how great it is and eating your miserable, holding back technology for your own personal tastes, words! :)

@IceJester45 Headaches, glasses, and inflated movie prices. I don't like 3D. Sony is trying to use this whole 3D gaming thing to sell me a new TV. It ain't working. Oh, and, yes, for what it's worth, the Xbox 360 does 3D too. And, no, I'm not going to buy a TV for that, either. ************************************************************ I'm not either. I'll get one eventually, but it won't be anytime soon. I want it more for the 3D movies then the games.

@the_requiem hahah talk about poor argument, you are talking to a person who has a 3D tv and i can tell you about my experience and my friends' experience. First of all people can't say all the movies suck in 3D, some do suck and I admit it but not because the 3D but because the content of the movie sucks like Piranha 3D. Moving on, you can't expect all the games in 3D to be good, sh!t are all the games in 2D good?, the answer is not. To make it short I saw a trailer for Uncharted 3 in 3D and it blew me away, that game is incorporating 3D the way it was meant to be!! i would recommend you to watch it but your poor ass can't afford a 3D tv bwaahahahah don't worry i'll enjoy it for you hahahah

Personally, 3D does nothing forme when I see it in a movie and I imagine that it would just annoy me when playing games. It just seems like a cheap gimmick and the flavor of the month.

As long as I can play those 30 games in regular HD 2D, I'm happy. Sure, there a few games I wouldn't mind trying in 3D, but I'm not running out to but 3D hdtv anytime soon. I just got a new Sony Bravia 60" LED to replace my defected 55in LCD. Thankfully Sony had a good replacement program going on for defected HDTV.

@Sharon Actually, not really. PS+ subscribers got the regular one downloaded to their system automatically. I had to delete it and grab the 3D one which is in the 3D folder of the PS store.

Watched despicable me at the cinema. That was amazing in 3d. Watched it last week in 2d and it kind of lost the wow factor (still a great film though). If video games gain a similar wow factor in 3d then i will be jumping on board... when i have the money of course.

Im am not convinced in the future of 3d in games or movies. Dont worry about the quality of the story or gameplay just make it in 3d! Whenever ive see a 3d movie at the cinema ive always had a headache at the end of it. Im keeping an open mind about the 3ds, but will wait for some decent rpgs to come out on it first and I wont be getting a 3d tv anytime soon.

if they liked their games on 3D they should try that was did in arkham asylum game of the year edition its in 3D and 2D mode and sold with 3D glasses

@EbeneezerGoode Maybe you can point me to some articles to support the claim that Crysis 2's 3D is somehow different on the 360 or less that full stereoscopic 3D because everywhere I look it says the 360 is the same as the PS3.

shadowhunter0 What the hell you on about. You know lots of people that turn the 3d off while playing the 3ds. The handheld isn't even been released yet. It's only in Japan at this moment in time. 10 minutes is simply not enough time to get the proper 3d effect. Don't post your useless crappy remarks until you autually play it for at least 30 minutes or you own one.

Or maybe 20% of Killzone 3 demo downloads were people who accidentally downloaded the 3D version because they saw Killzone and just grabbed it. Doesn't that seem more likely?

@Crash_WL It still doesn't take away from the fact that the people who experienced YLOD are in the minority. One should always be careful when buying a completely new product, due to the likelyhood of faulty new hardware. 3D has a ton of potential, depending on the genre of game of course. I'd rather have a console that evolves with new features, compared to shifting out my console every 5-10 years for an even more expensive one. YLOD has been fixed, so there's nothing more to do. Of course Sony isn't going to give you money because you bought a procuct that broke. Technology is a pain at times. And the only real counter is to take care of your tech, as well as waiting a couple of months after launch. Buying right a launch is rarely a good idea when it comes to technology.

My work contract is up at the end of April so if I can't find another job, I'm going to have to watch what I spend. I would like a 3D television as I do have a interest in the technology (and remember the bad old days of 80's 3D that looked like the picture and a couple of blurry shadowy outlines around it making it impossible to watch). That being said though I'm still unsure about if it has legs to make it a long lasting format after all there have been numerous times to introduce 3D that have failed miserably. Hopefully with Sony and their partners investing so much money in 3D games it may be last longer then many expect.

I think 3D would be much better if they increased the refresh rate or something...I would like it if it wasn't for all the damn blurring in the theaters whenever someone moves a muscle... I did get a chance to do some gaming in 3d in japan...that was awesome....I think 3d games look much better than 3d movies...I was surprised... when you think about it...animated 3d that pops out at you looks pretty cool sometimes....so a game is somewhat animated..so it has a better impact than live action film in my opinion

I'm not saying the 3D movement should be killed... if people like it and want to pay for it more power to them. I know that my 2D picture isn't going anywhere anytime soon so wont be forced to switch. Ultimately, I just don't see the industry moving to have a prevalent presence of 3D. And making media in 3D is expensive so eventually the industry will cut its losses and try to find the next big thing. Of course they are going to dump money into it now, new product success is all about right-time, right place, and going all-in, but the later is the only one they can control. This is a bet for Sony, a big one. If I were asked to bet money on whether the would be making new 3D TVs or media in 5 years I would bet on no.

@Crash_WL You know ylod can be fixed in less than 30 min. And will cost you nothing if you have the right tools? I'll fix it for you for $20.

@kiramasaki 3D isn't cheap technology. It's only cheap when one has to wear those red and blue glasses.

Until game makers can make matrix-esque virtual reality sims, they can take their 3d and shove it; thats what 3d is , its a cheap attempt to make you feel like you are in a game or film but its such a shoddy and poor technology. So as much as I like sony, get back to me when you can create something i want like FF VR.

Well that guys comment disappeared somehow but he was trying to defend 3d gaming on the ps3 but said he couldn't buy it because he lost his job. That beautifully proves my point. Nobody wants to pay that kinda money to see games in 3d.

@cloud310 , i've never seen anyone complain about blu-ray. Can't think of anything you could complain about other than price.

Also I'm not buying the 3ds for its 3d. I will have the 3d turned off half the time. I'm buying it for the games and system. I'm on the go a lot. So don't throw that garbage at me. My point simply was that I can enjoy 3d games and movies for a hell of a lot cheaper. THANKYOU.

@WeskerTeam, I will be playing it on Friday and I can't wait, as for 3D on PS3 I don't know what its like, but I'm sure the hell not paying the price Sony are asking for to play two games
