I truly believe the developers of AC3 should engross or clean up the storyline of the series rather than creating "missions". I personally got involved with Connor's story, and even Desmond ( underrated in my opinion, but sadly no one will be better than Ezio ... ) and Ubisfot ain't gave us a chance to penetrate more into both stories. Seems to me that they've spent a lot of time generating this buggy and flaky Anvilnext engine, and didn't have the time to polish and fill the storyline. I know that DLC's and expansions will be made, and ... [SPOILER] ... we will play as templar agents hacking Desmond memories and... [SPOILERENDS] we will have the chance to explore more about Connor, how Desmond descends from him and such but I can't relieve myself of the feeling that game industry and AAAgames are being hastily made to fulfill FU%šing deadlines. We all lose in this scenario.
Ubisoft aware of issue affecting "very small number" of players, working on fix; gamers advised to not load saves while DLC is downloading.
Some Assassin's Creed III players are reporting in the Ubisoft forums that after downloading the game's just-launched Hidden Secrets expansion, their in-game progress has been wiped. A Ubisoft representative has responded to the issue, noting that the company is able to reproduce the problem and is working on a fix or a workaround.
"From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players," Ubisoft community developer Gabriel Graziani said. "That said, we're taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously."
To avoid encountering the bug, Graziani said players should not load their Assassin's Creed III save game while the Hidden Secrets DLC is downloading in the background. "This appears to be the key trigger for this bug," he said. "You can do anything else you want to do, just don't load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading."
The Hidden Secrets for Assassin's Creed III launched this week and introduces three new missions (Lost Mayan Ruins, Ghost of War, and Dangerous Secret) that total one hour of gameplay, Ubisoft said. Successful completion of each mission will reward players will new in-game weapons.
In addition, the Hidden Secrets content adds two single-player costumes (a Captain of the Aquila uniform and a traditional Colonial Assassin outfit), as well as a pair of new multiplayer characters: Redcoat and Sharpshooter.
very small people have this problem and they know that and trying to fix it ... BUT when a very big num of PC gamers have a low FPS rate in boston and the whole game and they DID NOT DO A THING !!!!!!!!!
i was downloading some gears 3 dlc a few months ago and after it was finished it had erased everything from my hard drive. profile, saves, dlc, installed games. everything
this is a disclaimer for the 1% - the 1% of game players below 7 years old... Don't do anything while your console is downloading a patch...
Why would you open the game when a DLC for the game is downloading?
It is common sense not to do that.
@MorokooI'm sure a lot of them are learning the hard way. Can you imagine all those hours and progress being wiped out?
@JESSITO are you 7 years old? lol
Rushed pile... LOL
Do you know how many lines of code that game has? Do you know the expertise that has to go into the game, don't even talk about a patch that has to find and re-write files...
The people who made this mistake got their game wiped. Dont load games while downloading patches.
Who plays their games while downloading DLC for that same game at the same time? Maybe it's because I have a bit of OCD, but just thinking of trying that scares the heck out of me. It sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Thank you PlayStation Plus for automatically backing up my saves to cloud. This is why you pay for a subscription for consoles, Free Games every month, auto updates& auto saves backups. (without subscription still can play online for free suck it xbox 360 users) :)
Where the heck did that come from? console wars forum is that way --->
Smh.... Feels so good to have both consoles.
@CrimsonCorp AGREED dude.
@CrimsonCorp @candyass While It does sound Fanboyish and I have all 3 consoles + all handhelds + Wii U he does make a point. I can remember quite a few other news stories about games deleting and/or corrupting saves, PS+ does a great job of backing up saves.
Manual backups are nice but how many people actually remember to do them.
A lot of people (including myself) bought the season pass, entered the code and didn't get the unlocks. Support has no answers for us and I don't think they care. They took our money and gave us nothing. Awesome.
Now DLCs have bugs too? Sheesh maybe next time bugs will come when you're downloading a patch.....and then you gonna need a bigger patch to patch what patch did....
I lost over 25 hrs of hitman absolution because of a bug that deletes your save file. now this garbage! wow you know what im thinking more and more of buying games a couple months down the road, tired of supporting poorly tested games that lauch with a myriad of glitches. how does this garbage even get through testing?
It happend to me my save is fucked. Was playing the game while it downloaded and then took me back to the start and the auto save saved over my progress. Not happy
Lol, that's what idiots get for spending money money a promise. Fucking season passes? Not only are they 1st to get new DLC, but also the 1st to experiences bugs and glitches.
Maybe these bugs and glitches will wake people up to stop throwing money away on false hopes only to be disappointed. I can only imagine what bugs and glitches the next gen brings.
@ carpetfluff....dunno why, but the reply button won't work. Anyway, nah, it wasn't actually packaged with the GPU. The code card was made to look like one of the typical code cards you get handed by the retailer as part of the retailer promotions. Same thing I've received from places like Gae Stop for codes to get a free game or unlockable item etc. It looked exactly like the one I got for Borderlands 2 at the same time, except that one worked and Borderlands 2 has rocked. The one for Borderlands 2 also didn't result in wierdness like links to a customer service company appearing on the supposed download page that then resulted in the customer service people claiming they don't do serviec for the company, emails with links to my free download that didn't work, more links to their obvious front company for getting peoples' info in hopes of hacking them, etc. Even if you got to Ubisoft's website you can't find a link that is at all helpful in trying to address the issue with Ubisoft directly. It was a scam...no doubt in my mind.
Whatever. Screw Ubisoft. I got a code-card for a free d'load of this game when I bought my new NVidia 680 4GB. Enter code, etc., get emails, etc., and none of it worked. This was supposed to be an official promotion...it was on their websites, etc. Then, to add insult to injury, the links to customer support in the emails and on the site let you send an email and they respond with "we don't do customer support for Ubisoft." Complete BS.
THEN, I get a hacking attempt on my gmail account (thankfully GMail blocked it cuz it was from China). Coincidence? I thnk not. Can you say SCAM? So I repeat: Screw Ubisoft.
How does the DLC have bugs?
It is just a plain stupid idea to PLAY THE GAME while an Add-on to it is downloading, I mean jeez.
I love the spin corporate always puts on these things: "...should generally only affect a very small number of players..." I think the RROD only affected a small number of players, too. Plus..."should"..."generally"...how ambiguous can you get?
No one is ever honest about these things. Just once, I'd like to see:
"Guys, sorry. We messed up. In our haste to release DLC while our game was still relevant, we skimped on most of our testing procedures. To be fair, if you bought our game at launch and had to download the day 1 patch to fix a myriad of bugs, you already know that we OFTEN do the absolute minimal amount of testing. Sorry you lost your save game, but don't let that deter you from buying the next iteration of <this game>, due out in exactly one year."
@sundown19 To be fair; I don't know if anyone would think to test the 'what happens if you load a saved game while this dlc is still downloading in the background' scenario.
I'm almost hesitant to call this a 'bug'- if you try to change the data files for a game whilst also playing it, this sort of thing is going to happen. It certainly must suck for anyone who's had it happen, however.
I don't feel any pity for people who did it, it is just plain stupid to play something while an add-on to it is downloading.
@majere613 I dunno Raist, I don't see how downloading missions / extra characters has anything to do with your save file.
And data loss will always be called a bug.
Because of the period in which Assassin's Creed III took place, I initially read the headline as "New Assassin's Creed III DLC wiping slaves".
I'm like, "Oh come on! Being politically correct is one thing, and works of historical fiction have leeway to adjust the facts, but pretending slavery wasn't going on at the time? Really?"
So then I realize my error, and cheer to myself "Yay, slaves still exist!".
And then I immediately felt bad again.
Huh, why would you be playing a game, while the DLC is downloading for that game anyway? That just seems odd.
@dylan417 Ghost Recon Future Soldier for me. I was so pissed. I did all the unlocks and everything. Ubisoft totally f'd me >.<
This is starting to happen with a lot of DLC lately, I feel bad for any player who put in as littel as 5 hours in a game or up to a 100hours+ in a game and has had there file deleted, I now keep a back-up file, though it's not usually up to date daily as I may have to replay 10 hours or so but that's better than wasting 200hours fro ma deleted file.
I know the ecomony is hard and companies have a deadline to release games to maintain the quarter profits. But I think we need an overal less game, but more high quality games, where games are fully polished. ACIII has the most bugs and gltiches out of the whole series, A game like Dragon's Dogma was released 2/3 finished, this statement was made from the developer. Put the time to release a fully finished product including all content, polsihing, etc. Sucks to see gamers waste hours in a game becasue their file was deleted, A small number of people have been affected, doesn't matter the number it's unacceptable.
Consoles should have automatic save backups, just keep a backup whenever a patch or dlc is detected and there, these terrible issues at least don't make you lose progress in an open world game. Save corruption/deletion is one of the worst things that can happen in any game, nevermind an impossible final boss, the save gets wiped on a game you spend several dozen hours playing, it won't kill your in-game character, it'll kill the motivation to play your $60 game again!
