the 1 thing DLC ruined was multiplayer maps..so many games today feel bare bones in the map dept.
New Halo 4 maps, Extraction mode arrive December 10

Crimson Map Pack brings three multiplayer environments to sci-fi shooter, new 5 vs. 5 objective-based gametype; free with War Games pass, $10 otherwise.
The leaked release schedule was right. The first Halo 4 downloadable content expansion--the Crimson Map Pack--will launch December 10. The content includes three new multiplayer maps and a new Extraction mode and is free for those who hold a $25 War Games pass. The content will also be available as a separate download for 800 Microsoft points, or $10.
As was previously announced, the Crimson Map Pack features the Wreckage, Harvest, and Shatter maps. The maps will be playable in their own playlist that only features the new environments. The DLC also includes eight new achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore.
The Crimson Map Pack also brings a new game mode to the mix called Extraction. This new 5 vs. 5 objective-based gametype tasks players will extracting assets from various locations. Once a squad has found an extraction site, they must plant a beacon and protect it. The defending team will receive a point if they control the beacon. If they fail to do so, however, they attacking team will be awarded a point. The first team to extract five points is the winner.
Two further Halo 4 expansions will follow the Crimson Map Pack. These are the Majestic Map Pack and the Castle Map Pack, due in February and April, respectively.

This should be free or at the very least should be much cheaper because only 8 MP maps is way too few, couple that with the fact that 4 are to small team games and 4 are to big team games and you're bound to get bored of them fast, as did I.
Looks pretty interesting. I hope 343 fix some the bugs with this game when this dlc release.
I'm just going to enjoy my Vanilla copy of Halo 4. I have way too many games on my plate for PC, 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, and handhelds to buy more maps.
such a blatant stab at getting more money...$10 more 1 month after game release... at least if it came out 6 months later we could assume they worked on the dl pack after the game's release but they had it ready but decided that it wouldve simply been too much content for $60. They should be pissed on
@Pavlara You obviously don't understand videogame lifecycles. The game development is actually done about a month and a half or so before release with testing going on up until about two weeks before release. Devs have started using this development down time to start on DLC. It's why Borderlands 2 had DLC two weeks after launch. Not because it was cut to "make money" but because the dev team started on the DLC as soon development of the main game was over.
@Pavlara Well, I see your point, but if they waited 6 months, people would be mad for a lack of DLC. Developers can't win.
If they're only going to be on a special playlist they are a waste of money. Very disappointing...

@ChiefReaver but as of now you can only play it in customs, I assume this map pack will open a new playlist for extraction.
I got the collectors so im gonna be getting this for free well in a way it's free i guess XD but like really if they had these full 3 maps ready this soon after the games release it's kinda obvious they have been ready and could've just been put on the disc, but instead they want 10 bucks for 3 maps. FOR 3 MAPS!!!
@Bangerman15 If you got the LE edition you get these next three map packs without paying more correct? Just want to confirm.
2 Like @Bangerman15 Sure they could have been put on the disc, if you were willing to wait till December for Halo 4. Things have to pass QA and they might have been nearly ready by the time the game got to stores. I doubt they were ready when they went to fabricate the discs though. The price seems normal though... or has been for the last several Halo's I think. At least it's not $15.
wtf? Extraction is already playable, they are going to charge for it now? It was even on the disk...
No... they're just adding an Extraction playlist as a temporary hopper on the same day the Map Pack comes out. Next week is Team Regicide, and the week after is Extraction.
Since they're willing to add new game modes, how about Invasion for one of the other two map packs. Invasion was a ton of fun in Reach and it's one of the few things I'm sad they removed from Halo 4.
@Spartan_418 It's not really new, it's been there. I liked Invasion though, it was just to short.
Was fun for a couple of weeks, but it's going in against Far Cry 3 tomorrow; more my kind of shooter.
Wait, so is Extraction going to be available for everyone? Or are they seriously charging people for a game type that is already on the disc?

This could have all been on the disc. I am not expecting good things next gen at all.
@HonorOfGod Next gen, you will be paying for each chapter, each gun and each multiplayer maps.

@HonorOfGod If the map packs were on the disc we'd probably have gotten Halo 4 next summer instead. Sadly DLC is an industry model to keep the revenue stream going. It's optional though. At least a year from now they wont be semi-worthless due to a new Halo.
@HonorOfGod *They're adding more stuff to the game*. What the hell do you mean 'what is the point'? You pay money to get stuff. Didn't you get your stuff?
