New media: Wipeout Fusion
We have new screenshots from Wipeout Fusion for the PlayStation 2.
Sony Australia has released a number of new screenshots from Wipeout Fusion, the eagerly awaited antigravity racing game for the Sony PlayStation 2. So far, Sony Computer Entertainment America has not confirmed a release of the game in the US, but given the fact that previous Wipeout games on the PlayStation have also been released in the US, it's highly likely that we'll see SCEA publishing the game in that territory. In the meantime, development is steadily progressing at Sony Liverpool in the UK. The new screenshots show a more detailed track design, a variety of jumps and loops, and weather effects such as fog and sand storms.
There are a total of seven venues in the game, with three tracks each. Additionally, you can unlock mirrored versions, giving you a total of 42 tracks. Wipeout Fusion sports six different game modes, including a revised arcade mode, a full league mode, an elimination mode, a time trial mode, an endurance mode, and a secret zone mode. The antigravity spacecraft are a lot more detailed in the new Wipeout game, and there are many more parameters influencing the handling and characteristics of each ship.
We'll have more on the game soon. In the meantime, check out our preview and our impressions from this year's E3 show in our Wipeout Fusion gamespace .
