To be quite honest, I don't mind that they have redone the old expansion packs, they've improved them! Seasons is so much better! I like all the sims, I will continue to waste my money on the imaginary world, I love sims, sims 2 and sims 3 all equally.
EA announces Sims 3 expansions for 2013; new games will allow players to send their Sims to university, explore houseboats, and travel to the future.
The Sims 3 series will have new content this year. EA's Maxis label has announced additional expansions for the PC and Mac versions of the game, including The Sims 3: University Life and The Sims 3: Island Paradise. In addition to these, an untitled new expansion and a stuff pack are currently in development for release later this year.
The Sims 3: University Life is expected to be available from March this year, and will allow players to enrol their Sims in university, attend classes, earn degrees and experience college lifestyle. In addition to new gameplay elements, players can also take their Sims through a new college town to explore new features.
The announcement also revealed a limited edition pack that is available for pre-order, which includes a party pack with additional in-game items.
The Sims 3: Island Paradise will allow players to take their Sims out on customisable houseboats and investigate uncharted islands, manage resorts, and explore the ocean. The expansion is slated for release in June this year.
In addition to the new games, EA has also revealed an untitled expansion pack that will grant Sims the ability to travel to the future, and a stuff pack featuring iconic movie themes and settings. Both untitled games are expected to be released this year.
The expansions and stuff packs will require The Sims 3 for PC/Mac to play. For more on the core game, check out GameSpot's review of The Sims 3.

considering what EA did to the mass effect trilogy(and no, I'm not talking about just the ending, I'm talking about how their stupid deadlines and greed for profit cut short it's potential for greatness. sure, it's grand now...but imagine what it could have been if BIoware had been given free reign....), It wouldn't surprise me if they have us buying 'building houses' and 'making sims' as expansionpacks for number 4. plus all the other stuff they'll be reselling rather than just putting in there to begin with. How many times are we gonna have to pay for the same shit? If EA gets to decide, until the day we die.
EA. Rat Bastard of the gaming industry. No bleepin' question. Thank you.
Wasted stupid students playing beer pong and bitching about each other... looks like a great Expansion pack idea... NOT
People are complaining about The Sims 4 not being released, what are you going to do when it is? Complain about them not releasing 5 or complain about what's wrong with it's expansions you don't have to buy?
I love the sims, but they're just repackaging their old expansions into the 3rd installment. I'm not even going to bother with seasons nor university life.
The Sims 3 is a decent game, but man does the price add up with all the expansion packs (some of which should've just been in the game to start with.)
@LesserAngel on steam right now to add the entire Sims 3 DLC will cost $420.
Not even sure if Steam has all expansions though (might may be origin exlclusives? im not sure)
But even during the steam winter sale, 66% off, so ~$150 where not everything was on sale is still way too much for a single game...talk about nickel and diming...EA knows how to squeeze money out of people.

They really need to fix the horrible LAG that happens when the game engine cant reset a sim thats got stuck in the map, I hate it, its annoying as hell have a gaming rig that can play this game like on high and yet this stupid 1-2 sec stutter keeps popping up because theres some engine coding issues. They should at least fix that before they release any more and the new expansions should have 1000 Sim Points with them like Adventures did and stop doing stupid ones like Diesel stuff and High End Loft Stuff (NON OF IT WENT IN MY LOFT)
@Dav_id83 I agree. On a side note the only way that I could find to fix that annoying stutter was using mods that actually could reset the stuck sims and cars... Sorry for being "ignorant" but it just seems as if the actual developers could not fix something that fans could, and that is just a bad thing for a company's image imho.
@Dav_id83 Totally agree to fixing the bugs.
It is time for The Sims 4!! Sims 3 has lots of expansions with lots of useless stuff that you never use, useless actions, and annoying activities...
@Alves_19 Not to mention The Sims 3 is so poorly optimized it can take 5 minutes for the game to load if you have enough expansions installed. They should really just make these spin-offs like the Sims Stories games.
I stopped picking up anything "Sims" when the Aspirations EP came out. The game is lame compared to it's predecessors.
I've been considering getting The SIms 3 for the PC and all of it's expansions, I love Sims 3 on the 360. If the PC version is as good as that one then that would be a nice time sink.
@Smokescreened84 Usually the console owners complain about the lack of expansions for them. The Sims 3 alone is a bit empty, add some expansions and it's great.
@Smokescreened84 How could it possibly be worse than a console version?
@mat989 Lol I do, I like the expansions.
@mat989 The expansions aren't usually too bad, at least some of them. I really enjoyed Seasons, for example. But the stuff packs are a complete waste of money, and anyone deserves to be burned for buying one. (Especially the Katy Perry Sweet Treats expansion)
@mat989 Gotta' catch 'em all. University was my favorite Sims 2 expansion so I'm excited about this one. However I'm not to impressed with the stuff packs
@V3rciS This coming from someone who's trolling a Sims blog..
@V3rciS Some people do, and I appreciate & respect news about all games even if I'm not interested personally. I don't understand why you'd read or comment something you don't care. Leveling up maybe?
What worries me is the fact they release them much faster now, which means less time fixing bugs and with every expansion new bugs+old bugs... I like Sims 3 a lot, own most of stuff but they have to slow down a bit and fix issues.
Also this long term announcement means no Sims 4 this year at least which makes sense. EA is struggling economically so a big investment in new engine+game development isn't logical. They just need to keep hoarding money for now and the Sims 3 is their most stable franchise at the moment.
I haven't experienced any bugs lately besides one of my Sims getting stuck in the shower three times recently..
