Six weeks after the infamous data breach brought it down, the PlayStation 3 and PSP's commerce service returns; free Welcome Back games not yet live.
"The PlayStation Store is back online and thank you everyone for your patience," she said. "You will notice a huge lineup of new downloadable games, demos, add-on content, themes, avatars and videos. Also, PlayStation Plus has been updated with new full game trials, free games and DLC, free avatars and even more discounts."
The PlayStation Blog has a full list of backlogged content that is now available. It includes such PS3 downloadable titles as Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls ($14.99) and the exclusive Under Siege ($19.99). The TurboGrafx-16 rereleases Alien Crush and Bonk’s Adventure ($5.99) are also now on sale.
Not yet available are the games Sony is giving away free under its Welcome Back program. "You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live," said Chen. "It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we'll be sure to let you know when."
The next PlayStation Store update is slated for Friday, June 3, with at least two more to follow next week during the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Today's restoration of the PlayStation Store comes a month and a half after a cyberattack that resulted in the exposure of some 77 million PSN accounts and an additional 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts. This week, Sony Network Entertainment president Tim Schaff is expected to testify before Congress to explain the security breach.
@mclebron23 clearly you are the nerd dude, you have three consoles and no friends.... lol.... plus you take a comment personally??? wth?? this is a blog and i can say whatever i want about the crapbox system... i dont care psn got hacked, it's still here and better than crapbox... hope to hear another lame comment from you :) and for the record i am 8 years old XD
@demonkingx5 Ok, maybe do that on a pc forum for pc gaming newcomers rather than people who play consoles. I'm sure alot of people know about Steam regardless and could easily find out if they were interested in pc gaming. You say stop 'snitching', do you know what that means? It means (put in a childish way) to 'tell on someone' i.e report them. I didn't report you, so either you've got your definitions mixed up or you're simply making false accusations. In fact someone reported me here, and since you brought up the topic and are probably just annoyed by my posts, I would assume it was you. How ironic.
@irishdude199210 im letting people who dont own just a console who got steam about the deals they have. there are people who got ps3's & steam you know & grow up stop snitching on people over the internet
Great! But am getting lots and lots of error codes. Hopfully just teething issues. As for games freezing, Fallout 3 is the worst offender.
Well I'm glad that everythings back up except..... HACKERS are still on COD The PSN Store Keeps Crashing Some Games now freeze **** WHEN WILL THIS END! GET IT RIGHT SONY!
@demonkingx5 The point is talking about Steam is off-topic, plus you were simply advertising it. Really obvious advertising too e.g 'Go to Steam to.....'. Talk about Steam when comparing it to psn, but don't just randomly advertise it.
@Thehobb...Crapbox 360? you're obviously 12 years old and a big nerd. Which system got hacked again? Oh yea ps3. BTW i own ps3, 360 and Wii so dont pull the "you're a fanboy card" I just call it how i see it and im not an obvious ps3 fanboy like your corny ass
guys, be patients or get yourself a crapbox 360.... let sony do their stuff properly! damn whinners!!
@5cott I have nothing in particular against the 360, there are things I do and don't like, but the same goes for everything really. So in that way, I suppose I agree with you, however I might mention that no proof has ever been exhibited of Sony's "poor security". Dr. Spafford (the guy who got everyone thinking this) admitted his so called analysis was based purely on speculation, and that he had no understanding of Sony's security. Now, this doesn't prove Sony had proper security, but some people went looking at information stored by google cache, according to which all accessible servers were not only up to date, but were behind multiple firewalls (directly contradicting Spafford). Again, this isn't quite proof, as the inaccessible servers could have been out of date, but I wouldn't say that's a likely scenario.
looking for some serious battle field bad company 2 players on the PS3 only PM me if you want to play. NOTE this is not a clan try out
kuda001; Yeah, I just saw that too. I have to say, I think this is a step too far. I understand the first attack (not that I approve of it... I simply understand), but doing it again immediately is overstating the point.
@GrayFox_360 Be patient. I know that's a strange word for a gamer, but patience yields it's own reward.
Im kinda disappointed they didnt roll out the welcome back program yet but i already downloaded infamous 2 demo and its great! too bad they DELAYED the welcome back program
@Kuda001 If this is true, and I'm having my doubts, one thing I hope it does is make it easier to catch these guys. They really think they're Robin Hood figures, they're not. They're industrial spies. Somebody needs to take these guys to a strip club and get them a couple of lap dances. Maybe they wouldn't be so pent up afterwards.
Apparently they have been hacked again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13636704
@ketchupclaw So they "claim" to have attacked Sony Pictures. What are they going to do? Disrupt the shooting of the new Spider-Man movie? You'd be doing me a favor.
"You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live," (rolls eyes) figures.
I sincerely hope Sony hasn't been hacked again (not the psn). If it is true I can't help but to feel sorry for the company. Seriously hacker folk, enough is enough. I'll just have to say a prayer for karma and believe the hackers will get what's coming to them.
EDDD BOON bring Rain back so mk can be complete quan was a dumb mistake dont mess it up put him in the playstation store as a DLC character
This would be cool, except I can't change my password so I can't get my PSP online. The stupid website is down, so I can't change it.
im not buying anything untill the welcome back pakage comes and it better not come on the 7th meaning sonic 2 wont be free with the playstion plus . there trying to be cheap
