Official website teases "important announcement" for role-playing game series next Tuesday.
The official Japanese Pokemon website has posted a teaser for an "important announcement" next Tuesday, January 8. No further information is available.
The most recent core Pokemon games were Pokemon Black and White 2, which released in North America in October 2012 behind positive critical plaudits.
Both games cracked the NPD Group's top ten United States sales chart during their debut month, but neither charted in November (a month filled with heavyweights like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Halo 4).
Most recently, the Pokemon Company released an official Pokedex iOS app. Similar to its in-game counterpart, the $2 Pokemon Pokedex iOS app provides a range of data, including information regarding how to evolve certain Pokemon, locations where specific creatures are found, and which types of attacks Pokemon are susceptible to.

i used to like linking my gameboy game through the n64 so i could use my TV as a giant screen rather than the shitty screen they gave you but emulators work just as well so w.e

SCREW A REBOOT!!! Make a Pokemon MMO on WiiU!!!! As long as the gameplay is different as in the players actually ARE the pokemon as in Mystery Dungeon or rumble, then this should be great and shouldn't affect handheld sales of Pokemon since they are 2 different genres of pokemon

@ekeapoel Ummmm....my opinion disagrees with your opinion. Pokemon has lingered too long on the DS systems. Many 3DS owners have been anticipating a Pokemon 3DS game for a good while now. (Rumble doesn't count, that's horrible). DS owners have gotten a very large helping of Pokemon. 2 generations, plus a remake. That's more then any other handheld has had. The series needs to move on.
I would like to see a brand new 3DS Pokemon with every pokemon from every generation present, so every random battle is actually random, instead of a damn Pigeon or something. Break up the monotony and add variety.
2 Like I think they need to do a full 3d pokemon game. I also think that the series needs a fresh start. They need to reboot the series and star with a new interpretation of Red and Blue. The series needs to grow up little bit, the people that play pokemon are no longer six year old they are of all ages. A better story line would also be desirable not just some ridiculous Team that whats to take over the world. Pokemon games sell like crazy, i just don"t get way the production values are so low, nintendo needs to stop been so cheap and put money into making those games.
@yamilvirginio I hope they never change main game asthetics. Pokemon don't have to grow up to become a better game. Players, however, are those who have to stop with this obsession for mature, realistic games. Most part of good games are rejected because they just look "childish" or too simple, so they become underrated gems or a cheap XBLA/PSN title. I miss when games were not all about graphics in 1080p with DLC support. To hell with this cursed generation.
@rushiosan I not talking about making it realistic dude. Have you seen the Zelda franchise specially ocarina of time and twilight princess. Those two games have a perfect valance between anime and realistic. When you try to satisfied everyone you end up with a bad product if you put childish graphics in a game intended to be for everyone you end up with a game like the wind waker or skyward sword. Yea they are great games but do you know what the have in common, the sales are poor compere to games like twilight princess and ocarina of time. Do you know way because childish graphics only attract children and most 6 and 7 year old already have mario and ton of other games . I not saying Pokemon should be violent or serious but they need to improve the graphics, improve the story line { its becoming like mario now }, add cut scenes. I love the fighting style it should stay the same. Nintendo also needs to improve the online service is terrible
1 Like @yamilvirginio @rushiosan I agree with yamilvirginio. nowadays kids really aren't as into pokemon as we were as kids. it used to be played by every kid on the block. everyone had red and blue. nowadays kids are playing rated M games on xbox or ps3. most pokemon fans are growing up and i say Nintendo needs to see this and appeal to the generations that is growing up by creating a new generation of pokemon. ive looked around and i think this is a perfect adaptation that everyone would love

this is the direction pokemon needs to go. not only will it appeal to the long-time fans, but as we see kids these days playing more mature games, and watching more mature shows, younger kids will also want to watch this new show, if it were to become a reality.
thats another thing, everyone here is assuming its a game. maybe it is a new show. possibly a new generation of pokemon. maybe a new spin off like a table top game or what not. the possibilitys are endless.
the two things i want to see are 1- a new adaptation of the show. more mature, but not to loose the love and compassion we felt for this show as a kid. 2- a pokemon mmo. a free roam/sandbox game where you can meet other trainers/ friends along your way. like skyrim but with other people. also id like to have it as to where you are enjoying a journey not interrupted by the need to have the perfect team an EV training. having your walls and wall breakers, leads all that shit. i want to have a game where you have your team youve met along the journey and just enjoy the dam thing. separate thing for the intense competition. theres my rant

1 Like @Morokoo It's perhaps the only reason I would consider buying a Wii U. Not to give them any stupid ideas, but can you imagine how much money they would make if they used the controller a la the leaked Rayman advert, and released actual Pokemon figurines that could be put into the game?

Need one in the series with more of a story where the earlier pokemon are the main ones Red blue gold silverthose generations, but it isnt just go next town get a badge go do something to access next gym, need a full story
2 Like They need to make a Ruby/Sapphire remake and also another game like Pokemon Colosseum/XD without only catching Shadow Pokemon. A longer story couldn't hurt either.

1 Like It is a console release?! I feel like Game Freak just keeps pokemon (main series) on hand helds so that they don't have to change or update it drastically.
@granola_goodnes actually that have said they do that because they're afraid it will deter from the overall pokemon experience.

@strangemk1 That will never happen. Nintendo won't go any further than Miiverse and Pokedex. Their games are very important to them like that.

@dayzline @strangemk1 I know. I understand that the marketing scheme Is exceptional. They would make loads. But, it's not Nintendo's style. Pokemon/Mario/Zelda and all that are their own creations, and they're very protective over them. Most people come back to Nintendo because of these characters, thus making you buy another Nintendo product.
Putting Pokemon or any Nintendo game on another platform would just mean people would expect more multi-platform releases, and therefore, kill off Nintendo as a unique company.
I mean, back in the 90's there was no way you'd see Sonic on the SNES, or vise-versa. It only happened to Sega because of the Dreamcast flop.
Imagine if Halo were released on PS3, or Uncharted on Wii-U? It's not right.
