@AvatarMan96, I really hope it does. I love both series soo much!!! Its going to be so amazing, I just know it. I have to have this game!
Level 5 teams up with Capcom for new crossover title; will be penned by Ace Attorney director Shu Takumi.
Japanese developer Level 5 has announced the pairing of two of the DS's most popular crime-solving characters at its Vision event in Japan. According to reports from Japan-focused gaming news site Andria Sang, Level 5's Professor Layton will be teaming up with Capcom's Ace Attorney in Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, which is being developed for Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld. The game is being penned by Ace Attorney director Shu Takumi and is set to be a mystery crime thriller. No further details or a release date were announced.
Capcom's collaboration with Level 5 was first revealed in September, shortly after Capcom's research and development chief Keiji Inafune praised Level 5's CEO Akihiro Hino saying, "In the future, they're going to top us." On the collaboration he said, "Right now, the two of us, with our staff, are working together on some truly interesting things. Even though Hino is younger, he's someone I respect. I wanted to try working with him, so I contacted him."
Level 5 also revealed more about the upcoming Time Travellers, which is also due for release on 3DS. The game was previously announced in Japanese magazine Famitsu back in April, when Hino said the game was being developed for "unreleased hardware."
A trailer shown at the event--which is currently available on YouTube--shows a redheaded girl riding a train, interspersed with a countdown and a shots of a mysterious figure with a suitably evil-sounding voice. The trailer ends with the girl standing on top of a clock tower and appearing to leap from the top. A release date was not given, but Hino mentioned that he expects the game to sell between 500,000 to 1 million units.
Finally, a few more details were given about Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, which is also a 3DS title. The game will take place a year after Layton and his companion Luke first meet and will feature two timelines: the present Layton and a younger Layton. It will also feature a new online service, which will allow players to download a new puzzle every day for a year.
Please let this game come to North America... Please let this game come to North America... Please let this game come to North America...
I've never played any thing from the Prof. Layton series, but certainly seeing some new Phoenix Wright material is certainly a awesome and pleasant (albeit completely out of left field, lol) news! And for it to be coming on the 3DS no doubt is pretty awesome-sauce. I have to say this has even more swayed me closer to wanting to get a 3DS now. Here's to hoping this will open the door for seeing a proper new continuation for the AA series on 3DS (and beyond) as well. ;)
this game just climbed up the stepladder to #1 on my 3DS list. i cant wait to solve puzzles in court (NOT being sarcastic).
The question is really, is it even possible for the game to live up to the expectations? This a match made in heaven after all
"Sure I'll give you the clue that will prove your client innocent... but first, please help me with this puzzle." Phoenix may just have a breakdown if this happens... XD -T-
Ahhhh dude, I didn't want to buy a 3DS...but I believe I no longer have a choice in the matter. I better call the missis and tell her the honeymoon is being downgraded.
I'm surprised I never thought of a game of Professor Layton and Ace Attorney in one game. Well its definitely on my list of 3DS games to get.
Sadly, I've never played games from either of these series, but this is like the coolest crossover idea EVER.
So how will this game work? Will it be a totally new game that both work on, or will it be a mix of the two existing? Perhaps they will focus on one of the games alone... but all the same, THIS IS INCREDIBLE! :DDDD
We finally get to see PW in full animation because of Level 5, cool! I'm interested to see how this game will play; arguments and riddles mixed? Hmmm....
This is the most random piece of news I've ever read. Doesn't mean I'm not excited. PW is one of my favorite franchises!
Everybody! Read here; it says that Phoenix Wright is in the game! This is finally possible! It's probably not forever, though, just some other adventure he had before he lost his badge... Please, I need some more hope! You guys have any ideas at all how we could just forget the stuff in AA:AJ ever happened? Could Capcom just say "Oops, that's a mistake, just forget about it."? http://ds.ign.com/articles/112/1128842p1.html
I've never played an Ace Attorney game before so I'm not sure if I'm going to get it or not...But it sounds cool!
This is awesome news, and it means that I'll need to save up money for a 3DS instead of doing something about my now-useless PC paperweight...
only one problem: i still have to play through a few ace attorney games and the layton games. heres to hoping this game doesnt see light for another year or so
oh my god... i cannot believe this. love Ace attorney and have been about to play through the prof layton games.... this is going to be epic
