Sega, Namco Bandai, and Capcom crossover JRPG exclusive for 3DS.

Namco Bandai has confirmed that the JRPG Project X Zone will be out in English this year.

According to a post on Namco Bandai's UK page, the 3DS title is now slated for a summer release window for the US and European markets. The RPG features characters from Sega, Namco Bandai, and Capcom together in a single game. The strategy RPG also features tag team combat via the pair unit system and other mechanics including solo attacks, support attacks and cross hits.

The developer for the project is Monolith Soft, the same team that did the 2005 import crossover title Namco x Capcom. For more information on the upcoming 3DS title, check out GameSpot's coverage.

Well if you're localizing this Namco, any chance of maybe Namco X Capcom for PSN? BTW, SO getting this game day 1!

Scored an 8/9/9/8 in Famitsu, so it is a fine game. I shall be buying this, as will some friends of mine (you know who you are). But yeah, as CHROME trolled below me, it is likely to "flop" as this is game is very niche. But then, maybe they have anticipated that. Most likely they have.

Hopefully Nintendo has their back and pushes this game. It is receiving a nice amount of attention on these websites so that should help with sales.

@abHS4L88 It would be nice for the developer. But all the marketing in the world isn't going to change the fact that it is only guys like us that are interested in these sort of games lol. I think that that is a good thing though. I feel proud to enjoy the more obscure titles while everybody else enjoy their mainstream rehashes.

Mmm, I could see this game appealing to kids also, I mean seeing a bunch of awesome looking characters keep the living crap out of bad guys would look very appealing to children.

@CHROMEFLAMIN I'd love to know how this is "same ol', same ol'" -- what games -- SPECIFICALLY -- is this the same as?

@CHROMEFLAMIN

Still didn't answer the question I gave you earlier. Is it because you have no answer and just want to spout out nonsense about this game?

I didn't realise this was Monolith Soft but that has me kind of confused. Nintendo has effectively owned monolith from 2007 but I'm pretty sure they aren't the publisher for this.

@WeWerePirates

They're the ones who developed it but Namco Bandai published it. Even though they're a Nintendo 1st party, it was probably fine with Nintendo for them to develop this game (along with another developer, forgot the name).

Physical Support or it will not enter my house.

@Araknie This.  Yet I fully expect Banco to do everything in their power to ensure N.A. gets screwed over, Crapcom will just screw everything up in general, & SEGA (Wheeeeze...) would just stand around with their Segata plushies stuck where the sun don't shine.  As usual.  I only hope whoever is publishing this doesn't let at least Banco anywhere near the publishing side of this release.

 And it's a physical release.  With one of those weird things called a...uhmm...hmmm.oh!  Manual.

abHS4L88

@Atalalama @Araknie

Why would Namco-Bandai screw things up? They're the ones who wanted this game to be localized and they are the ones who published it, not SEGA or Capcom.

abHS4L88

@ZeroX91

As far as I know, it's mainly with localization and this game is coming world wide so I don't know what they could possibly do to screw things up.

@abHS4L88

Well they do have a history of screwing over JRPG fans, granted that's Bamco of America/Europe.

So , original dante, megaman, Jin, Dimitri and Ryu in on etactical RPG? I'll et a 3DS just for this game. Only MGS, SE and nintendo characters are missing it seems.....

@evil-zodiark

Lol, that would be insane if Square-Enix, Konami and Nintendo threw their characters into the ring also. Aside from Konami, both Square-Enix and Nintendo already have popular cross over games.

Another RPG for the 3DS, Jesus Christ this is awesome. I believe it's actually a SRPG, but still. It is the main reason I bought a 3DS, seeing how the DS has about 500 RPGs available. Just don't make me neglect my PS3.

Just 3DS? Why not Vita too? :(

Well huh, VC fans with a 3DS better buy this because it's the first thing about VC to hit the West since 2 years!

Gurzociurlo
Gurzociurlo like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

@Victorious_Fize It was developed with Monolith Soft, which is a first party Nintendo developing team, that's like it won't be coming to PSVita.

Anyway, if I have to give my opinion on it, I'm not a big fan of the genre, but I'll keep an eye on it.

All I can say it FINALLY!!!!

Really, since it sold horribly in Japan, the rest of the world needs to ensure that this game is a success!

@00LiteYear

Lol, I don't think it would fit, there's already around 200 characters confirmed for this game, sounds good but it would be a good way to dive into the rich history of Namco-Bandai, SEGA and Capcom that we're not aware of.

@Tripwolf

Despite their recent behavior, some of the best crossovers of all time are from Capcom.

djmaster1994
djmaster1994

@abHS4L88 @Tripwolf nah the best crossover is Smash Bros.

@djmaster1994@Tripwolf

I wasn't talking about the best crossover, although I do think Smash Brothers is one of the best crossovers of all time (my personal favorite), you have to recognize that Capcom is excellent at creating a crossover fighter from Marvel vs Capcom, to Capcom vs SNK to now Street Fighter x Tekken. I just wished they weren't so greedy with DLC.

Had this been other-than a strategy RPG hybrid I would have got behind it, as it is there are too many that try unsuccessfully to do this, and it takes finesse to execute a less-than straight-laced game of this sort...

@CHROMEFLAMIN

Because it's Japanese or for the 3DS?

Care to explain how this is recycled trash?

Also, thanks for proving what a closed minded pathetic excuse for a gamer you are, seriously, there's no game out there like this and you're calling it recycled trash? But I bet if it was some gritty realistic hardcore shooter you'd be all over it calling it revolutionary and innovative.

ChargeMan1991
ChargeMan1991

@abHS4L88 @CHROMEFLAMIN So now you're calling Western games trash?

Seriously, I'm starting to a bit tired of people saying similar thing. I don't agree with what CHROMEFLAMIN said, but I just don't get why most people hate Western video games. Yes, a lot of FPS's these days are just like what you've described, but not every game from the west is like that.

This is the reason why I don't game much anymore. -___-

abHS4L88
abHS4L88

@ChargeMan1991  @CHROMEFLAMIN

I wasn't calling Western games trash unless that's what you consider all western games. I was just making a generalization of what people like CHROMEFLAMIN would prefer over something unique like Project x Zone.

While I do highly prefer Japanese games over Western, I still enjoy my fair share of Western games. Granted they tend to focus more on realism and "mature themes" (not necessarily mature gameplay) many are still very interesting and unique, it's just the over centralization and focus on those that hardly seem different from each other that's given a lot of gamers the perception that Western games are all the same violence, bloody realistic gritty generic shooters which is completely untrue and a disservice to developers who actually try to put out something unique to a certain genre (like FPS) and it gets on my nerves when I do see a unique FPS title getting written off as something generic or a COD clone.
