PS3 Firmware 2.60 coming Jan. 21

It wont let me play combat arms i downloaded it last night through the whole night and it wont let play it now because i don't know where to push play and play against other people . can i have someones help please

I think Sony can shove their Firmware-updates somewhere ... ! If they don't include BC (PS2) again into the Hardware! "and" the Software Emulation for those that own thouse sad "light PS3" (that was released after the 60GB Original complete PS3 entertainment machine)... they dont interest me anymore. What was they thinking anyway? This suped up über-consol, isnt that impressive anymore, it cant even run its little brothers games ... buhuu ... stupid. In the next Hardware Update (model) of PS3, please go back to the beginning, ad PS2 BC, the two lost USB ports (hate to have alot of hubs everywhere), and what about the "card-reader", give us all that. And PS3 is again ... "über". Another smart move whould be to add a super-multi-media-format coverage into the machine! Xvid, Avi, Ogg Vorbis, Matroska, FLAC, SACD, Midi etc :)

B/C is a must for new PS3 owners who are just making that transition from PS2. Its an expensive console so all they have is their old PS2 games. And only 1 console has 100% B/C and that console is off the market. The 80GB has 50% at best so its an important issue.

still no reason to turn off my xbox 360 and turn on my playstation 3...how about some good games instead...stop wasted resources on junk like home and fix the god awful menu and please show me why I sent 500 dollars on this thing...I was told it was the better hardware...so...

i really want BC, i know its possible, i dont care if i have to pay or not as long as its not one cent more than $20.

photo gallery? i don't use or view photos on my ps3, just games, movies- bluray and streaming. and occasionally music too.

Will tihs let me play AVI? I don't understand why i can't play these files i've downloaded. I have downloaded a bunch of full DVD rips and when i stream them to my ps3 not one of them work. "type not supported"

This is by no means confirmed but according to a Sony rep that I spoke to, BC is coming back to the PS3 through emulation, it will be done much the same way the Microsoft does it for the 360.

Guys, cheer up, they are releasing an update later this year that will let us play games and watch blu ray movies with 3D GLASSES !

Sony will clearly never (re?)release backwards compatibility on Ps3. Ps2s are still selling like crazy, in part because they took out BC of the PS3 skus.

I'm more excited about the DivX support than anything else. Although, the photo gallery is a nice enough feature/addition as well.

Forget the photo shop. Get bc on ps3. BC ON PS3. BC ON PS3. BC ON PS3.

I'm glad they're adding the guest access feature to the Playstation Store. Now I can show my dad what I want to buy on his account instead of having to log in two times.

Photo Gallery sounds interesting... other than that, sounds like a ho-hum update to me.

Eric Lempel, Sony director of PlayStation Network Operations, has just updated the official Sony PlayStation Blog with information about the PlayStation 3 firmware 2.60 update coming tomorrow. The update will include Divx 3.11 video playback support, "guest access" to the PlayStation Store that allows non-members to browse the store, and a new Photo Gallery application.

"The key feature is a new Photo Gallery application, which delivers a suite of tools for sorting through and displaying your digital photo collection. Digital pictures can be organized in groups according to various criteria, including the camera used to take the photos, the event date and time, colors in the photos, as well as the number, ages, or facial expressions of the people pictured. You can also create slideshows set to music and build photo playlists with an easy-to-use interface."
