PSP Go to support non-gaming apps

I agree 16gb isnt enough even though you can add another memory stick of 16 gb it still isnt enough because I know Im gonna have a butt load of games and it wont be enough for guys like me who keep music and videos as well

PSP Go.. needs way more storage. Why not sell a 120GB Hard drive based model? The iPod classic isn't that thick... just add the drive! A little thicker will not bother us.. we want storage!

@hatieshorrer for one thing, it was revealed that the majority of older psp games will become downloadable when the psp go launches. and as for me personally, i haven't played my psp in over a year and sold pretty much all my games. also every game that is going to be released on umd will also be downloadable. there are also talks of a goodwill program that will allow you to trade your umd games for the digital download. and another thing is that the psp 3000 can't do everything a psp go can do. the psp go supports bluetooth connectivity not only allowing headset connectivity and mobile phone tethering but also giving it the ability to use a dualshock 3 controller.

@fester420 You dont get it. If you only want download games with short load times you can still get them on a PSP3000 or lower but if you buy a PSP Go you cant play any games that are UMD exclusives and if you trade your current model for a PSP Go you loose the ability to play any UMD games you already have. Also it isnt a mater of weather 16gigs is enough memory its the fact that a PSP3000 and a 16gig memory stick PRO DUO cost the same amount as a PSP Go and as I said before you miss out on any games exclusive to UMD and you get a smaller screen that probably cost less if you can get a PSP3000 that can do everything a PSP Go can do and more then the PSP Go should be less expensive maybe $199.99 seems like a fair price.

@ bowlingotter I agree with you on this one. Apple is definitely changing the landscape of gaming so much Sony probably feels the need to counteract somehow. Not sure if this will be successful though because this seems like an attempt to cater to the IPhone crowd, ppl typically that are not serious gamers. Its fine and dandy if Sony is going after this demographics, but as a traditional gamer, I would prefer to see Sony focus more on what it does well: development of ground breaking high quality software/hardware. I know in the current time frame they are probably under a lot of heat to come up with something just to show they are doing something to recapture their market share, I'm just hoping their ventures into PSP Go and other future handheld gadgets won't become too costly and doom them into any financial meltdown. i can't understand why people are so upset that there is no umd drive and the screen is smaller. for one thing, the battery life will be much better and 2-minute loading times will be a thing of the past. and if you know anything about screen resolution, you will realize that a smaller screen equals less pixelation which has really bothered me with the psp. as for the people complaining about not being able to download anything because all they have is dial-up, get high speed internet, it's cheap nowadays. I haven't used dial-up in about 10 years, where have you guys been? as for people who are concerned that 16 gigs isn't enough space, you will always be able to delete and redownload the same game at no extra charge. i am really looking forward to this and can't wait to get one this october.

@scarface_psp - I've heard (unofficial obviously) that the price will be what the original PSP was. Was it 3 or 4 hundred?

i hope the new app will work with the PSPs from 1000-3000. hope Sony makes a update for it. . and it will be cool to watch you tube vids on my PSP 2000

A PSP 3000 cost $169.99 A 16 gig memory stick PRO DUO cast $79.99 So why buy a PSP Go for $249.99 when you can get a PSP 3000 with 16 gig memory stick for the same price that has a larger screen and UMD drive.

Seems to me like they are making it out to be more like the iPhone than anything.

This'll prob be 150 quid when it hits the UK. With a bit of bargain hunting around town you could probably get a good few goodies thown in too. I bought my 3000 around release day and got it for 130 with 4 games so it is possible.

@tekken220: Don't know how you go from the comment "grab one while you can" into "make psp games sell so poorly" In my opinion (and that's all it is) the PSP2000 is & will be a superior version of this console, the 2nd hand titles already available for a couple of pounds(uk). UMD movies already available, Removable Storage & in case of failure battery, Mp4/divx support. As well as the PSP store, so hyped on this 'revised' version. This will be much like the 1xxx - 54xx series of the original psx which through use of the serial port could be a vcd player, hooked up to a pc to hack cheat codes through cheat devices. After this model they removed the serial port. Overtime Sony constantly make changes to the hardware to limit its true capability... and just in case you think i mean piracy i mean by expanding what the hardware can really do. see the price tag?... the cost to produce is lower than the 3000 model but the price is...! you know what, sony is going to share the sales profi of the psp go with game developer due to play free games by custom firmware all over the world. it is not fair for the developer to take all the lost of the piracy yet the system sales very good!

i already have a PSP3000... am seriously doubting now i will buy the PSP4000 :( they could really go off the charts and so something mind blowing but damn.......

This is all about the panic that the iPhone is starting to generate real games, and they're working. Why don't they concentrate on the one thing they have over the iPhone: BUTTONS. Just add a second analog stick and there you go, something no one else has.

@BLuFAlc0n Again I must completely disagree with you. Have you tried using touch sensitive buttons? Samsung had that on their phone, the E900 I believe (cant remember the model right now). The next generation didn't have it. Touch sensitive buttons are terrible, you never know if you pressed it or not. Seriously dude, why do all your comments suck?

The price of the GO is putting me off I hate to say it. Its going for 230pounds and well I am not willing to pay that for a handheld or a larger console for that matter. For 230 I could get myself a PS3. But I am not disregarding it yet I am just going to wait till it comes down in price. The apps I doubt I will be interested in as I have a ipod touch I use that for.

if they drop the price a bit for the PSP Go, maybe i'll get one but for $249 i think i'll stick with the old PSP.

IPhone has more than 50,000 crappy apps they mean. I would like to get my hands on a dev kit and the PSP Go and make what is supposed to be made for it...Games!

@gamingskater I didn't mean for my comment about a PSP phone to sound negative. I think it'd be cool if they could pull it off but I just don't want the PSP to go the way of the Nokia NGage. Also I don't want the thing to be useless for those who don't want to sign up for a cellphone plan. I don't know it's just a thought. If they could do it well then I'd be all for it.

@Kman8909 ...the thought about the psp phone is gr8. i mean maybe that'll add more glamour to it and it will be complete. Nevertheless a simple gaming only console is fine with me. Anyways the non gaming apps support sounds cool. Lets See what quality apps we get...

ah this is aggravating! I want a NEW psp, not a new design. This design would fit a NEW psp with 2 analog sticks. You realize guys that it really is just a matter of time though, right? It has to be.

Why the hell is Sony trying to compete with cell phone companies? Game systems are game systems and cell phones are cell phones.
